Good quality cottages
Good quality cottages with a simple booking process. Great communications during the run up to and after the holiday
A great week of autumn sunshine, based in this converted windmill
Accommodation over 5 floors is unavoidable inside this old windmill conversion, with spectacular views from the upper floors. Well furnished throughout, with many bespoke cupboards/shelving due to the circular shape. Really enjoyed the eclectic collection of art work which is displayed throughout the property. The welcome basket was full of local goodies. There is small private outside terrace which is great for sitting but probably not enough room for children to play. The narrow driveway access is not for the faint-hearted. Kirkbymoorside is not too touristy and has a lot of amenities. Good central location for access to the moors, the beaches, local market towns, several National Trust properties and York itself. We were also spoilt with a great week of autumn sunshine!

Great apartment well situated
Great apartment. Although advertised as en-suite it wasn’t but this was fine as it was only my husband and I. Well equipped although a coffee machine would have been nice. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Damp smell especially evident in the bedroom but to be expected in such an old building.

I’d happily book with Yorkshire Holiday Cottages again, I found them informative leading up to my holiday, collecting the key was easy, and a welcome gift was waiting.

Yorkshire Holiday cottages
Good communication from Yorkshire Holiday Cottages. Only slight negative was I struggled to find Owner contact details- They were buried in an email on travel directions

we stayed in Ladybird cottage in Whitby…
we stayed in Ladybird cottage in Whitby and it was the most disgusting place we have ever been.we left 4 days early arriving home yesterday because we just could not stomach the cottage any longer. On arrival it was difficult to unload the car, no parking nearby so paid £9 per day for overnight parking, this wasnt mentioned when we booked. The dishwasher was full from the previous guests and the cottage was disgusting. The dust and dirt covered everything ,i wrote clean me in most areas , there had been no cleaning done at all and covid obviously does not exist which really annoyed me as we were told not to arrive before 4 pm because of the extra cleaning , what CLEANING ????? we even had to clean the bath before we could use it!!! i would be grateful if anyone has a contact number for the complaints department for these people as im taking this matter further and would advise anyone considering booking with this firm to reconsider!!!!! Wanda and Jason

Lovely small cottage in isolated hamlet…
Lovely small cottage in isolated hamlet in the Dales, perfect for getting away from it all but not too far from many local beauty spots and to enjoy lots of walks. Across the narrow road from a farm the only sounds you hear are from cows and sheep. The only downside we found was the fact you couldn’t have the windows open due to the number of flies.

Complained about Geelong, Whitby, and wanted to be moved
Complained about Geelong and wanted to be moved. Owners and agent not bothered as they has been paid and we were told basically tough, nowhere to move you you, not our problem. Disgraceful. House poor quality, neighbours abusive towards holidaymakers, I was told to pack my f...ING bags and leave because I was a holidaymaker, owners only interested in protecting their future home. Am taking owners and agent to small claims court for full refund as totally let down, angry and disgusted. Not a nice place, not relaxing, far too expensive, no help whatsoever if there is a problem. Owners and agent should be ashamed. Photos in adverts are outdated and old, doesn't represent what you get...or what you actually dont get, eg comfortable seating, a room where 5 people can sit together, a bath you can actually use if you are taller than 4 foot, the list goes on and on, but still owner and agent not bothered and taking absolutely no ownership of issues

Economical with the web descriptions!!
Economical with the web descriptions, the property needs greater clarification of its position. It is extremely difficult to locate. The access is not straightforward; the steps from the front are very steep.
The upper floor stairs are VERY steep, and difficult to access especially when taking up the suitcases and down; bedroom access is virtually a 'hands and knees' job.
Leaving that bedroom is best done by backing out and down!!! Sore heads and shoulders result. It needs greater clarification to include elderly visitors as well as young children. We are a pretty fit 70+ couple but would not like to make the stairs too often!
To state on street parking is available is just a joke; parking is almost a mile away in the Harbour car park!
As for the 'Welcome Pack', it is an insult! 4 individually wrapped biscuits, a handful of teabags, two toilet rolls and a tea towel doesn't come close! Our previous two stays on this visit were both Air B&Bs, where we were given much, much better packs!!!
Will we be recommending the place? NO!!!!
If this is an example of the standards set by Yorkshire Holiday Cottages, we will not be using them again!
In response to a request for further information, I would add:
~there was no handwash, soap or liquid, provided in either of the bathrooms/shower rooms
~there was no shower gel provided in either of the bathrooms/shower rooms
~there was less than half a centimetre of washing up liquid available
~there was no antibacterial liquid available anywhere in the house
~an electrician called to carry out repairs, whilst we were there, having been told the property was empty!
~3 Prospect Place is totally invisible from the road
~its backdoor opens onto the back of the property above!

Lovely clean apartment
Lovely clean apartment. Well decorated and nice outdoor space plus parking space.
On arrival, we received a welcome pack, wine, milk and biscuits which was much appreciated.
The bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in!
About 10-15 mins walk downhill into the centre of Whitby.
It would be advisable to book if eating out as we really struggled to get in anywhere. Would definitely go back again.

We stayed at Captains cottage...
Rip-off accommodation. Property poorly maintained. Stains and mould on worktop, smoke alarm hanging off ceiling. Bulbs removed from ceiling light on top floor landing making this a hazard, stains on carpet, smell of damp and mould throughout. No privacy as cottage located on public walkway therefore having to keep curtains closed. Window from bed 2 looks directly into neighbours lounge.
We came back before our time was up!

Super clean and cosy
Super clean and cosy. Huge beds and cosy bedding. Plenty of fluffy towels. Well stocked kitchen. Will definitely visit this property again. The location is a bit tricky for those with mobility issues when walking to and from the town, but if you're driving it is all on one level from the car parking space and even my partner who can scarcely walk managed ok.

Grubby and Smelly Cottage in Whitby.
We returned 2 days early from our stay in Sea Salt Cottage because we couldn't stand another day there. The house was smelly and the paintwork and doors were very grubby. The fridge had black mould in the bottom of it and the drains smelled awful. The walls had dirty marks on them. The wardrobe was damp with black mould so I chose to keep my clothes on the spare bed instead. Sky tv had less channels than our free sat box at home which was disappointing. There were no instructions on how to turn the immersion heater on for us to use the shower so I was wandering about trying to find out how to use it. The windowsill in the shower was so dusty that I could write a message on it! The rest of the paintwork in there was cracked. On the plus side there was a new bath so the shower was clean and the bedding was clean as were the towels. However, I was feeling ill every morning because of the smell so we came home missing 2 days of our holiday. I let the company know that we had left and I have sent an e mail and 48 hours later I have not had a response. Its not good enough. The accommodation was not cheap and we were really looking forward to it.

Really nice cottage centrally located…
Really nice cottage centrally located for all of Whitby’s shops, bars and restaurants. It is accessed by several short flights of steps, just something to be aware of when carrying cases to and from the property.
Lovely garden which has sun all day.
Very dog friendly as is Whitby itself.
