Really good customer service.

First time customer here. Ordered a product and it didn’t arrive on time so I sent an email to follow up and Drew got back to me really quickly. He called the supplier and identified an issue on their end, they corrected the error and it arrived the next day. Fantastic, quick and friendly service from Drew. Would shop again!

####### AVOID #######

I DID see that age verification was required for the item I wished to purchase. I expected there to be a process at the checkout (same as vape oils etc) there was not. TWO WEEKS LATER I received an "age verification" reminder. I sent an email and followed the instructions. I advised within the email that it was 2 weeks ago the item was ordered and I didn't realise it was still pending. I am still back and forth trying to get my item. I wish I had read these reviews before placing the order. It seems there is illness within the family so the business has taken a nose dive. I also tried calling both the numbers on their website and it was on a Monday, there was no answer on either number. - Looking at the other reviews on here he seems to reply permanently blaming the customer as well so standby for that....and cue!

Edit: I must be psychic.

So as you can see from my reply to the email requesting verification that was the first contact about my order for 2 weeks.

From their terms and conditions:
"You also agree to complete the age verification process by responding to our age verification email that is sent to you after your purchase of these items."

The email he is referring to WAS my age verification email. It had my full name, the words "AGE VERIFICATION" and the order number in the title and a copy of my drivers licence was in the body of the email. He refused to tell me where I was going wrong but continually told me to read the instructions which I did, multiple times, with my husband over my shoulder also checking.

He has continually referred to me as being "arsy" and referred to this review as being "nasty". All I can say is if this review saves 1 person from having to deal with this company it will have served its purpose.

1 final thing. My refund has been processed and he withheld an amount. This is what I received about that.

"This is a standard email response to answer your query regarding age verification and the admin fee.... I have now banned you from the website, and refunded your order minus the £5.99 admin fee for securing your data on the refusal register."

so 5.99 for "securing my data on the refusal register" and 5.99 postage fee. Not sure why he withheld the postage since he didn't send anything. I may look into this further but to be honest I don't know if I have the energy to deal with this person any more. I dare say he will respond to this again but I won't read it.

the facts here are simple...

if this customer did read the info and warnings on the product page about needing to complete the age verification process as it is a legal requirement immediately after purchase her order would have been dispatched the following day. The instructions are clear, They are simple to follow, you are made aware of this before you place an order, we even have a dedicated page that answers all questions, provides info on the laws and requirements, and we also provide info on what will happen to us if we break the law. This is provided in a big red box directly above the buy button.

NO EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE! WE WILL NOT BREAK THE LAW FOR YOU!

Quote customer email in responce to a reminder we sent regarding age verification:
"Hi

I didn't realise this order was awaiting age verification. As far as I can tell, the email I received this morning was the first communication from yourselves since I ordered this item 2 weeks ago!"

If you had read the info on the product page and completed the age verification process immediately after purchase you would have had your item delivered the next working day.

I'm about 3 weeks I think since…

I'm about 3 weeks I think since ordering. Ordered the week before a scout camp, hoping it would be here before the trip started. The tarp didn't arrive which is ok as there's only a couple of sending days a week. But I'm now into my 3rd week and still no arrival and the delivery of 3-5 working days still don't have any tracking info.

Poorly functioning website

Poorly functioning website, allows for payment and completion of the order, despite not confirming the age, although there was such information.Possibility to pay with PayPal, but only in theory, because you cannot log in.Another problem is the lack of an option or I did not find one when buying as a guest to confirm the age, which is an option that should not take place with the correct ordering process, i.e. first confirmation of age then payment.Charging a penalty fee for a bad website, strange! Here they cite the terms of the purchase, and it works fine before paying!A lousy business based on penalty fees, not living on a commercial margin.

this customer disregarded all info regarding age verification before, during, and after his purchase despite trying to help him, there are no faults with our website. He took the attitude that the laws regarding age verification do not apply to him so wasn't happy when we told him there are no exceptions. There are also NO penalty fees. This is not true at all. The website clearly states in a huge red box above the buy button that you will be required to provide ID after you complete the purchase, there is also a link that provided clear, detailed, easy to follow and illistrated directions and also an FAQ section and info on the relivant laws and regulartions regarding selling knives. He was also sent 3 emails reminding him of this. We cannot be held responsible when a customer chooses to disregard the info provided for them. Why would any website let you log into your customer account with your PayPal credentials? that's ridiculous.

Pedantic

When providing the age verification I got the response "please follow all 3 steps. step one asks you not to respond to our original email". All I did then was resend the same email deleting any reply content, it took me less than 10 seconds to do this. It must have take Wylie longer to send the email telling me to do this rather than doing it themselves. Very pedantic

Its not pedantic, we are required to keep your email in a database of hundreds of thousands of entries. We need to find it quickly if requested to by the police, so we ask you to send a clean email.

As the info states "no exceptions will be made" if you had done it correctly your order would have ben sent out the following day

No goods or replies after 2 weeks

I placed an order on 3rd September with express delivery that as of 17th September, I still haven't received.

I waited for a while before contacting them to chase the order as it did say on their website that orders were only being shipped fridays and mondays due to staff illness, which is fair enough and which i accepted when i ordered. However I contacted them last week to ask for an update on what's happening with the order and I've still not heard back. 2 weeks have passed, no update, no items and no money in my account. I see now reading other's reviews that I'm not alone, and that the business owner is struggling to keep up. If this is the case, don't complain about how overwhelmed you are, close the store for a while until you're back up to speed and have honoured the orders you've taken before allowing more people to spend their money with you.

I've asked for cancellation of the order now because I'm fed up of waiting and the time has passed when I needed them for, so we'll see if that comes to fruition. As a person, i understand there have been difficulties for the owner, but as a buyer from a business, it's disappointing.

Hi Paul,
After your purchase, I did send you an email explaining that I had sold out of a few items on your order and looking at a week or two for more stock to arrive. At present it is taking a little longer for stock to arrive with me. I am also temporaraly dealing with working alone on Wylies Outdoor World, down from a team of 12 pre-covid.

As our website does explain. Giving you all the information prior to placing your order. With skyrocketing costs, I have been forced to take on a second job temporarily meaning that I can no longer be as responsive to emails as I always have been in the past.

We are closed over the weekend to allow myself time to rest as I am doing almost 100 hours a week right now. You would have heard from me on Monday regardless of this review to give you the option of a refund in full or just for the missing items and your order would have been dispatched on Tuesday after the bank holiday.

I do apologise for the delay and the temporary issues we are addressing at the moment. Right now all small, independant businesses like ourselves are dealing with the long term effects of 2020/2022.

I can understand your frustration, but it is just a temporary drop in service. if you wish me to cancel the order that is no issue at all. It is entirly possible I have missed your email, I get over 150 emails a day, then social media messages on top of that.

my own mobile number is at the top of the website, you could have contacted me on that if you were concered rather than leaving a negative review in the hope of a responce and I would have addressed that for you as soon as I called you back.

Shocking delivery or lack of

Asking for a review when told a parcel has been shipped on 3/9/22 and is still not delivered by 12/9/22 will unfortunately not get a good review rating or comment. You have used Evri!!! as the carrier who have the worst reputation for delivery in the universe!!

Didn't arrive - Updated

Ordered 23 Aug and as of 9 Sep, it's still not arrive. Tracking says it is waiting drop off. phoned up, no answer. Sent email, no reply.

Update: The owner called me and explained that the item had been dispatched but might have gotten lost. He said he'd investigate and send out another set if needed. I was away until 19th September, but on my return home the items had arrived. Don't know if they were the original posted items or replacement, but they did eventually arrive. The guy I spoke with was actually very helpful and explained there have been a few problems recently. Despite the delays, it did eventually get resolved so am changing this from a 1 star review to a 4 star. Cheers Wylies for getting is sorted.

Delivery despite staff illness

The company put a notice on the website saying some orders would be delayed due to illness. It's good to see that honesty and care for the customer. Drew still got my order to me on time. Top man.

Nobody to speak to.

I received my order in timely fashion correct.The only reason I gave a 4 star rating instead of a 5 star was that I received no reply to my online chat and telephone went straight to answerphone. Nobody to speak to!
