Millions of computers (and people’s hard-earned money) are thrown out every year, usually due to simple problems that can be easily fixed. Mark couldn’t stand the thought of that and wanted to do something about it. Using his background in technology, Mark set off with his son Adam on a mission to come up with a way to help people get more life out of their outdated or broken computers. What they came up with is Xtra-PC. The team created Xtra-PC as an affordable and effective way to have an extra PC. Xtra-PC transforms old, unsupported PCs and laptops, allowing unused or compromised computers to be used again. We are committed to making old computers useful again and avoiding the unnecessary throwing away of hardware. Our location on the Colorado prairie defines our values of hard work, simplicity, sustainability, and the entrepreneurial spirit.

I was silly and bought 2 of these. I could not even attach to the internet once booted up my PC and of course no access whatsoever to any of my software - MSOffice Adobe etc. I'm quite tech savvy and have never been so disappointed in the haphazard method of installation, lack of instructions and in the result, so much so I didn't even bother asking for a refund.
Waste of time and money. Tried to use it with Lenovo notebook but only boots in portrait mode. Can't connect to the internet so can't complete install.
As a not very "green" 85 year old I thought I'd research this product BEFORE buying. Reading the comments on "Trust Pilot" my suspicions have been confirmed! It seems to be a scam!
Whether this company is breaking any laws or not under the "sale of goods" act I don't know. Perhaps there is someone out there with the time & inclination to find out
Please do not purchase anything from this company. They’re taking advantage of people who aren’t great with computers, often people who are older. What they’re selling is just free software (Linux) available to anyone, on a cheap USB stick. Once again, do not waste your money.
Thanks for Trustpilot keep me from being a fool again!
As I intent to buy 1 scam Xtra-pc and cannot remove that extra 1 pc (40% less) added automatically; I just thinking that should be some tricky marketing trap.... Finally I can understand that it is a kind of cheating scam..
A VERY CHEEZY PRODUCT. I DON'T RECOMMEND PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT.
I bought two; second one at half price. It has its own office program, so I couldn't use MS office products. Product not terrible, but I understand that it is free linux software on a usb ScanDisk.
*IT IS. XtraPC label is stuck ontop of the ScanDisk logo.
*Its version of File Explorer has no search box to search through your files.
*No refund if you open the package, so I can return just one of them, fair enough, BUT...
*The refund will be for the discounted one! Why should I be surprised?
*THIS IS A VERY CHEESY PRODUCT...TO SAY THE LEAST.
Re-branding free software and then upselling it as something it isn't.
Surely this is illegal, and utterly disgusting
Worst product you could ever buy. Avoid like the plague. It will hijack your computer and destroy everything you hold dear. These clowns should be drawn and quartered. They are criminals of the worst sort!
Since there are so many bad reviews of this company and product and it is considered a scam by some, WHY is a reputable worldwide company like YAHOO allowing them to run Xtra PC advert on their site. Yahoo is just as bad.
Don't buy this, it doesn't work and is a complete scam.
Beware of this gadget! It took forever to get it, was expensive, but the worst is they don't tell you that it will remove not only every program except Windows, but also all the documents, photos etc. connected with these programs.
The techies are no help and don't have any compassion. I am left now with the problem to somehow try to recuperate hours and hours of hard work with an additional program I had to buy to hopefully get some of these files back.
I was told to send the sticks back, but there, too, they have all kinds of conditions, and the customer has no idea whether a refund is forthcoming because you won't have the merchandise anymore.
I wish I had known what I know now: it's a very bad deal, and I only write this in the hope that others are prevented from making the same mistake.

just to add that as a uk cusomer on top of being charged $8.99 postage ,i have a card from royal mail demanding £14.40 customs charges ,this is not made clear to would be purchasers, cannot comment on the stick as not yet collected.
I was looking forward to receiving the Xtra-PC - Turbo 16 that I had ordered on Facebook. I waited patiently as I knew it would take time coming from the US.
After some time I got a card from the Royal Mail informing me that they could not deliver the package as there was an extra charge of £14.34 to pay.
I am disabled and will have to travel 7 miles to pay this and pick the item up as I dont want to wait any longer.
This came as a shock as I did not see any details regarding this on the website, it was only after this incident that I went searching and found details under shipping at the bottom of the page. I had to press on the shipping icon to find the details.
I am not very savvy with these kind of things so it is little wonder that people like me would not see this information.
It is my opinion that companies such as Xtra-PC should have to make this absolutely clear and let people know what they may have to pay from the outset.
I dont know what the product is like as I have not collected it yet but I could not recommend this company and would warn people to be very careful of adverts like this as I got caught out on Facebook once before. I did talk to someone named Kath on the chat option who seemed very nice but only got a standard type of answer about custom charges that she said were on the website, which they were but not as noticeable as the should be. I will never buy anything from adverts like this again.
They state this will work on a Mac. IT DOES NOT...... I have sent many emails asking for detailed instructions,. They acknowledge getting my email and state they will contact me and THEY DO NOT.
Hell will freeze over and they still will not respond. This is not a company you can trust. False advertising.W James
Xtra-PC tells you in sales pitch that they can fix any computer and start it again. The discs come with a cardboard piece of paper that is 2x3 inches. It gives you no instructions and no place to call for help. However, after writing numerous times they did ask for me to return the small USB discs and they would refund my money. THEY KEPT TO THEIR WORD WHICH IS MORE THAN A LOT OF COMPANIES WILL DO. MAYBE MY DELL WAS JUST TO FAR GONE AND NO ADMIN PASSWORD. Peace.
Ordered one unit but they charged me for two. No phone # to call.
Have not received it yet and already do not like the company.
Save yourself some money. DO NOT ORDER . Advertised with price plus postage =. Total price ?
No it’s not. Paid with PayPal but when it arrived had to pay extra £16.55 overseas delivery. When I contacted company got e-mail back saying that it was in small print that they were not responsible for postal charges in this country. When postage is quoted in a price I do not expect to pay extra .
Just a big con .
A very disappointing experience with this company. In no way do they live up to what you would call a responsible company. An order made on December 17th has still not arrived and the response they give when asking where the package is, is:
"Thank you for contacting Support. I have researched your order and it shows it is currently in transit. Our shipping policy states on our website, we ship out our product within 7 business days using USPS, shipment times with USPS are 2 business days in transit typical for US destinations, 7 business days to Canada, 2-6 weeks for other International destinations due to Customs. International customers, please note that once the package has cleared your countries customs port, it will be transferred over to your local post office for its final delivery. Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.
Thank you
Customer Support"
I was looking forward to seeing what the Xtra-PC could have done to improve performance on a few laptop but it seems like I will have to look elsewhere.
I can therefore not recommend this company for Internet trade.
If or when I receive the devices that I will add a comment to this entry.
