In a hunt over Christmas / New Year 2025
I tried to find another car for my family holiday, YES Rentals were recommended to me
YES Rentals were amazing, went online that evening and the following morning car ready to pick up from Christchurch - they had it ready a lot sooner too what was absolutely fantastic company and a credit to YES Rentals - the shuttle service too - very quick and efficient.
We then unfortunately had a problem with the battery while in Queenstown. YES rentals were out within 30 minutes of the phone call to fit new battery - BEST rental company I have ever used. Very impressed

Was amazing helped out when we had to change our car and even forwarded our pickup time. We had one issue where the battery died but a yes rental mechanic was with us within half an hour and replaced the battery free of charge. Very good service and staff.

Thief tried to steal my car in northern island.
Yes Rentals have not send tow truck even on my expense. Actually they could, but said it may come today, or tomorrow or maybe the other day.. Had to sort it out by myself to get it done. When something happens they leave you hanging.
DO NOT EXPECT ANY HELP FROM THEM
For a small side window and ignition switch they charged me over $2400 which is absurd.

Also, just FYI, cars (Toyota Aqua) were very old - one was 2018 and the next one 2013.

Be warned - Yes rentals isn’t at the airport with the usual car rental places. Our flight arrived late, we went across to the car rental place to find no sign of Yes rentals. The shuttle bus to the offsite office was a LONG walk with luggage and children. And there was no shuttle operating - you had to call them to ask for a shuttle and the office was closed!!
So we had to get a taxi to the hotel and another taxi to Yes rentals (~$70 each way) to pick up the car. That was an expensive waste of a few hours in our first day of holidays.

The car was fine and the Yes rental people were good at the office, refunding me a day’s rental.

Dropping off the car was the next problem - we had to drop it off at another offsite storage place for an unexpected extra $45 because it was a 9:30am flight and yes rentals was closed before 8am. So another trip, another shuttle bus and another long walk …

Would have been cheaper and easier to get a rental from the airport in the end.

The vehicle I rented was the cheapest I found during the Christmas period, and being a HYBRID, it was very fuel-efficient! The staff were very friendly, and I purchased YESRENTALS' own insurance and roadside assistance, so I had no worries at all. The shuttle arrived promptly after I contacted them at the airport. It was truly great value for money! It’s disheartening to see some previous reviews. We can’t expect both low prices and completely new cars—it's understandable that the rental cars have high mileage.

We got a car with 2 wheels from four rundown profiles. The third one was already damaged so that we continuously lost air pressure today ending up in the tire shop with a run flat tire.
The material to refill the car for interim drive was partly not fully there and already used.
Furthermore, the front weaping water already ran empty after 2 hours.

Also calling them for help was not helpful.

Open how they will react to the repayment of the wheel.

Great friendly and helpful would recommend them without hesitation

BEWARE 🛑...Do not rent from this company. This my 2nd review. The first was about below standard vehicle, prices and terrible service and response to windscreen damage. Now, this!! They offered a refund after acknowledging the below standards and major issues. This took 10 days to show in my account, a day later they charged my card again.. These people are dodgy and NO Good!! I will be filing charges of theft, credit card fraud first thing Monday. Chrystal McMoore

The process to investigate a case takes unbelievable long. Paid the NZD6,000 deposits in late April (got slightly hit by the car behind). Did all the procedures needed before leaving NZ. It's late July now, we still don't know the results. Yes Rentals just kept saying investigation is in process, please be patient. We can't proceed any claims submission on the booking platform (Ctrip) yet, because YesRentals cannot provide the actual amount we are liable. Also, there is no toll-free number to call from overseas.
