HWAM Stove

Following a previous inset stove purchase form Yorkshire Stoves, we purchased a free standing Hwam stove with external flue kit, Aug 25.
Showroom experience was good, Chris came up with a solution for the installation in our new extension.
Unfortunately, the installation didn’t go to plan, Installer bored out the flue exit too high on the wall, not to the agreed dimension with Chris, this resulted in the installer taking the back edge of the concrete lintel out which supported the steel work for our new extension opening, this was obviously a concern and potential long term issue.
We had to engage a structural engineer to develop a remedial of new block work and steel angle to support the existing lintel.
Although this did take some time to complete due to other installations, but to be completely fair to Yorkshire Stoves, Chris and Matt, not once did they shy away from the issue, they carried out the remedial works to the requirements of the structural engineer at their own expense to put the job right.
All in all, happy with the finished product.
Thank you.

Very pleased with our stove…

From our first visit to the showroom and to having the finished stove fitted we have been really pleased. We were given loads of good advice before choosing what we wanted.

They came on the day promised, worked really hard as our chimney was all bricked up and was very very dusty and sooty. Covered everything in the lounge even though we'd covered it with thin sheets.

Very pleased with the fit and the stove gets the lounge to 30 degrees and kitchen to 25 which our central heating doesn't. Should have done this years ago. We chose the Dunsley avent 4 which seems very efficient and heats our 3 x 4 lounge plus the kitchen and hallway leaving the doors open with just one burning log at a time.

Very happy customer.

Reply from Yorkshire Stoves

Hello Phil, As explained on our 2nd visit by our fitters. The reason the leak is happening is due to the flat roof dormer. It is collecting rain water which is pooling on the roof, this is then allowing water to seep through the roof ridge tiles (Because the dormer is incorrectly installed this has lifted your roof ridge tiles) This was explained to you by the fitters when they came out to inspect when you raised this issue. As far as we were aware, you we're getting in touch with a roofing company to check this over, we assumed this had been rectified. Following this we would be more than willing to come work with you and a roofer to explain the issue.

A thousand apologies for the awful review I put on your page, it was meant for Yorkshire stoves and fireplaces in Huddersfield and not yourselves. ☹️I removed it as soon as I read your comment and realised I had mistaken your company for the one in Huddersfield.

A great company with a wealth of expertise

We had been badly let down by another company but the experience with Chris and the team at Yorkshire Stoves couldn’t have been better. They had a stove in stock which fitted our requirements and after a couple of hours in their showroom we had placed an order. The installation went well and the two installers appointed were keen to make sure that it everything was as it should be and there was no mess whatsoever.

We were very pleased with the process from start to finish. The stove itself looks great and works well.

Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic service from the get go. Nothing was too much trouble for the guys who fitted the stove, we has a couple of teething issues which were promptly resolved. All in all a great experience.

Quick, reliable delivery and good communication

I ordered a logburner online one evening, received a phone call the next day asking which day would be best for the stove to be delivered. It was delivered a few days later, well-packaged and in perfect condition. I'm very happy with the communication, the delivey and the product :)

Great service from start to finish

Great service from start to finish. Easy to deal with. Loved the online quote system where the personalised quote was built to suit our individual circumstances. Reliable service, turned up for the survey and for fitting as promised. Cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. Absolutely thrilled with our multi fuel stove and fireplace.

Not a very nice experience

Bought an inset stove one that was a showroom display stove. After checking the details supplied to me via email, sizes output and suitability for my existing fireplace. Went to the showroom to view and verbally confirmed it would fit and showed the salesperson a photo I had taken of my fireplace and it was confirmed again it would fit. I bought it on the strength of what I had been told.
I had my existing gas fire removed and capped therefore our heat source for that room had been removed. This is 2 weeks before the second covid lockdown.
I am a more than an average diy enthusiast and after getting building control advice decided it was well within my capabilities to fit it myself.
On lifting the stove into its intended position it did not fit as I expected and would need extra time and cost to make it a suitable fit.
On checking the information I had been given it became apparent the width of the stove was 30mm wider than the size I had been given.
We liked the stove and I had already transported it home ordered the specific flue gather for that model plus other items before it became apparent it was not a straightforward fit I had been promised.
I returned to the showroom today to point out the fact I had been mis sold the item and not been given correct information.
Now we come to the reason for 1 star and this review. It very quickly became apparent they were not going to compensate me in any way, and said they would refund my purchase cost if I returned the stove. I had already spent an equal amount of money on associated fittings so not an option for me. It descended into a not very good customer experience and no apology.
This is supposed to be a company that sells stoves and this is their expertise. I have been totally let down in this instance and will not be using them again and would urge caution for future buyers. On leaving I heard what sounded to be a not very nice comment, probably not meant for my ears.

Great comapny, great personal service.

We've been renovating our house and had ordered two stoves from this company. They bent over backwards to get us what we wanted and gave us a good price for the two (we got quotes from other local stove centres.) It was no problem to come back and change one of the stoves when we had changed our mind about it's features. It was all done within a small time frame allowing us to get on with other less helpful companies completing the rest of the house.
We love the stoves and would highly recommend them as company.

Appalling service, lack of knowledge of building regs and aggressive attitude.

We paid over £2000 for a stove to be installed in our kitchen. The salesman came to quote told us it was a simple job. When the installers turned up they appeared to have no knowledge of what had been agreed and were going to install the internal chimney in a position that we would never would have agreed to in the quote. They charged us £50 for installing 4 tiles around the fire; these were not installed properly and one cracked. They used a huge twin wall flue in the kitchen which looked terrible - telling us it was the regulations. When we checked, we found this was not the case yet were subjected to arguments and an aggressive attitude from the manager when we challenged this. It took 2 attempts to get the work re-done, communication was terrible (2 installers turned up 6 hours early and started work without our permission after our builder let them in - and began doing the wrong job!) Even now, the chimney on our roof is crooked. We would never use this company again nor recommend them.
