While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

My experience was first class. The medical assessment was straight forward, just make sure you bring along all that is needed, plus fill in the forms where necessary beforehand.

Don't expect any kind of thorough medical in 15 minutes.

It was a 15 minute appointment and apart from blood pressure and a (questionable) eye test (see below), the rest of the time was ticking all the boxes, mostly without asking me!
But then again, what can you expect in such a short time and with dozens of boxes to fill?
The eye test was in poor light and the doctor should surely know the implications of having had cataract replacement surgery. I can read a licence plate at over 40 mtrs for goodness sake.
So, job done, but if DVLA ever get wind of this I'd imagine there will be some fundamental reaction. I only need this to retain my C1 at over-70 and am in pretty good shape, but goodness knows how many Taxi and HGV drivers are on the road with unrecorded medical issues.

Thank you for your feedback.

We’d like to clarify that the standards and requirements for driver medicals are determined by the DVLA, not by our organisation. If you have concerns about the rules or processes, we encourage you to raise them directly with the DVLA. We are in regular contact with the DVLA’s medical team to ensure our procedures align with their guidance and regulations.

Regarding the appointment duration, a 15-minute medical is standard and sufficient to meet the DVLA’s requirements. Our process has been thoroughly tested, and our doctors, who have conducted hundreds of medicals, are experienced in completing these assessments accurately and efficiently. While we understand the perception that 15 minutes may seem brief, it is designed to address the specific criteria outlined by the DVLA rather than to serve as a comprehensive health check.

For the vision test, our doctors follow the DVLA's protocols, which are focused on specific eyesight standards for driving. It is worth noting that the DVLA bases their standards on an individual’s ability to meet specific criteria, such as reading a licence plate at a set distance, rather than other medical factors. However, we do acknowledge the low lighting and we will explore avenues to improve this.

We appreciate your input and are always looking for ways to improve the experience for our customers while continuing to meet the strict requirements set by the DVLA.

Best wishes,
Your Driver Medical Team

Extremely convenient.

At my age I require a Medical every year. My 'usual' Driver Medical practitioners did not answer their 'phone so I Google searched only to be surprised that I could get a medical locally and on the day. As I was working nearby and the appointment time was convenient, I immediately booked to find that the cost was £7.00 less than I paid last year.
