Abusive surcharge for airport pickup

Abusive surcharge for airport pickup, despite it being the Addcar company’s only available location in Malta. This cost was not disclosed in advance, indicating a lack of contractual transparency, and was charged at the time of vehicle collection without giving the customer any real alternative, as cancellation was no longer possible without losing the booking. First I had to pay extra 15 Euro at the…

First I had to pay extra 15 Euro at the airport and they wanted me to pay another 50 Euro for late pick up, what was all mentioned as inkluded, when I booked the car via check24. On the airport I got a car with several dents and scratches what I don't mind but as soon I left the airport the flat tire symbol and a warning came up.
I wanted to change the car for what I paid 170 Euro for a week but they pretend that they had no other, so I have been forced to take it at 10:00 pm.
As I brought the car back the guy was very unfrendly, told me that I have not been the only driver and I will be fined now they try to squeeze another 200 Euro from my deposit of me.
The Last time I had for 34 Euro a much better car ,friendly service and all went easy with one of there competitors ...
never again with this company

- no staff competent to install the baby chair for us or ti explain / show how to do
- upon arrival, the agency didnt accept a debit card to serve as a warranty. Only wanted a credit card which we didnt have and didnt have any easy solution. Pretexted they didnt want to receive a payment because there would be a transaction fee. Why is it not envisageable to make the client assume that payment fee (1% maybe?) If it is the solution that is most convenient fir them? This is ridiculous and so adverse to the people who dont own a credit card. Beware reading the related fibeprints.
- Wouldnt call their manager and even said it is not possible to call !
- Didnt offer a solution. We had to leave in taxi and return the next day(extra time and cost). Then, told the booking had been cancelled for no show (lost prepayment of about 20 euros)
-We were provided another car more expensive than our initial booking with a lower franchise. That solution should have been mentioned the day before.

Regarding the baby seat, our staff is responsible for providing the equipment; however, for safety and liability reasons, they are not permitted to install child seats directly. That said, they should always be willing to guide and explain the correct installation process, and we regret if this was not communicated clearly.
Concerning the payment and deposit policy, please note that the requirement for a valid credit card is clearly stated in the booking terms and conditions, which are available prior to confirmation. This is a standard practice across the car rental industry, as the deposit serves as a security guarantee. Transaction fees are not the core issue in such cases, and alternative payment methods cannot always be accepted due to security and contractual limitations. We do understand that this can be inconvenient, but it is essential for the rental process.
In relation to the lack of immediate solution upon arrival, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused. However, when the required rental conditions are not met (such as presenting a credit card), the booking cannot be initiated. The alternative option you were offered the following day was based on availability at that time, which may differ from the previous day.
Regarding the no-show and cancellation, reservations are automatically marked as no-show if the vehicle is not collected at the agreed time and the rental requirements are not fulfilled. This policy is also outlined in the booking terms.
As for the vehicle condition, any pre-existing damage should always be recorded at check-out. We encourage all customers to carefully inspect the vehicle and ensure all damages are noted on the agreement before departure. We regret if this process was not clearly explained to you. With regard to the booking platform and local provider, it is important to clarify that reservations made through third-party platforms are subject to their terms, while the rental agreement is always concluded with the local provider. This is standard practice in the industry and ensures that services are delivered locally. Decent vehicle/subpar processing time

Decent vehicle, but subpar post-rental support. I’ve been waiting over a week for a reply regarding my incident (dent barely visible) and the final charges. Was ok experience

Was ok experience. There was a €15 airport fee to begin with which I was not aware when booking the car and if I was alone I would have made a big deal out of it or cancel as was same price as the car rental itself so there is an airport fee of €15 for the car so be aware, but I was with people and did not want to make big. Surprised they don't print the 1-2 pages contract when they have a printer to give you hard copy when they have printer and paper just there that would be nice instead of you have all in email when you are in a diff country without internet yet. I have rented in Les developed countries and they print the car documents and mark the rat spots with you there and give you a hard copy of Ur car rental so maybe next time would be nice to get that. There were extra marks on the car that I made the company aware and they updated their system and sent me the new images via email. Company needs to check their cars and I genuinely recommend you have a thorough look and a video of your car you picking up before fingers start being pointed. Car was clean inside. When bringing the car back the fuel gage needs time to drive before it goes up which is weird be aware so fill up maybe day before and top-up on day a lil as well. But luckily for me staff was understanding as I showed the lady my fuel receipt what I had just put in fuel and they knew this about their Kia picantos but bear in mind that. Worked out double what I had expected to pay from the website for the time of year but overall was ok experience from my side. A lot of charges mentioned if you bring car after hours when there is key dropping just there with other companies but luckily we were on time. Was ok experience. Keep in mind £1200 lock on credit card to make sure you have the funds before the day of purchase. It got released quick for me after 5 days back as in end as all my side was ok but quite a big amount lock for the small car I rented.

Bad experience this week with the…

Bad experience this week with the rental process: our bank card not accepted, and we should add a new conducteur to have a new payment method.
For the return of the vehicle , we filled up the tank and drive 20 km for return the car and we should pay again an extra because it was supposedly out of petrol.
Lots of Little things have changed and become important for our experience.
We don’ t recommand this renter for his flexibity and trade.

The employee was quite rude

The employee was quite rude. When I asked him why the deposit was so high, he replied, “That’s just how it is.” Then there was a mistake with the time, and he wasn’t offering me solutions in a polite way. I will not rent a car again with this kind of behavior.

Car rental Malta

Very poor

Very poor. The dashboard keeps throwing error messages for air pressure despite filling up and resetting. The staff are rude. Hidden charges and blackmail policy. Imagine coming from the other side of the Island and god forbid fuel is one bar less than full..35EUR.. travelling with family and kids..they know you will have to pay..rent from a reputable company not some shady business like Addcar/CS car rental.
