It's not free. They first upload your file, and before downloading, you have to pay.

Downloaded the app onto my Mac. It is clear and easy to use. Am converting my WordPerfect files to MSWord and Zamzar making this easy. A huge bonus I did not expect is that Zamzar puts the converted file beside the old WordPerfect file in the correct folder. My life just got simpler. Thanks, Zamzar.

Zamzar has been my app of choice for converting pdf files to jpeg and png files for over 15 years. It is easy to use and a lifesaver when receiving pdf files.

I have downloaded the software onto my windows 10 laptop, and I was given 25 free file conversions.
I have a book in pdf format which I have tried on more than 3 occasions to convert to mp3. It has failed each time. I now have 21 free file conversions since Zamzar can't distinguish between a file converted or a failed conversion.
Why has the conversions failed? I don't know, since Zamzar does not give a reason.
I could have read the book from cover to cover in the time I have tried to convert this pdf file to mp3. So if you value your time, give Zamzar a miss.

Zamzar is the one online service for .odt -> .pdf conversion I've used which is both reliable and trustworthy. They're not constantly upselling me or gating me, but providing a valuable, free and open service.

I am writing in regard to a "successful failure", instead of the solid and valuable work Zamsar's service usually provides.

The transcription of an audio file of mine regularly misinterpreted a man's name, writing "Ibrahim" instead of "Abraham".

I contacted Zamzar on this issue, and they replied in a timely fashion.

The main problem was the difficulty of the Irish accent of the speaker, the source of the misunderstanding.

While the transcription software could not be rewritten at a snap of the fingers, various good suggestions and services from other companies were offered to remedy the issue.

In my case, it's easier and cheaper to just fix the problem manually after the Zamsar transcription is completed.

But I appreciate the respect and personal attention Zamsar provided in this matter!

I've used Zamzar for many years for myself - paid subscription. I now run a nonprofit, and Zamzar is kindly donating that subscription. Whatever file you want to convert, Zamzar does it well and quickly. I had an issue once with a publisher file. Zamzar figured out that it was a font issue in Publisher and helped me fix it. Zamzar is excellent, support is excellent, and the cost is reasonable. I wish all programs could be this good.

Ever since I found this website it's been an absolute breeze. It's the only place I go to convert a file, been like this for many years. I may not become the biggest customer due to my varying demands, but I'm a happy one. I hope you keep up the good work!

I work exclusively with Linux and therefore don't use MS Office. In order to properly archive emailed "doc" documents for a legal matter, I needed to convert them to PDF format. LibreOffice wasn't capable of doing this. Zamzar did the job quickly, securely, and excellently, free of charge. Thank you very much!

Excellent conversion software - tried many others to convert MOV to MP4 and none of them worked. Took out a free trial of Zamzar and voila it worked perfectly! Will definitely use again.

I used the web interface. The PC app was newly available, but I only needed to convert 1 file so I didn't try it out. I found the web interface easy to navigate and intuitive to use.

When you add a file to convert, you are presented with options of what format to convert to that are appropriate for the file format you're converting from.

I wanted to put the audio contained in a WAV file onto Facebook, but Facebook only accepts video files. So I needed to convert the WAV file to an MP4 file, assuming the MP4 created would only contain an audio portion and no visual portion.

When I attempted to start the WAV to MP4 conversion
Zamzar presented me with a little pop-up window containing a question - did I want to add a visual portion containing a black background? It stated this would be needed if you wanted the MP4 file to work on Facebook or some other sites. This obviously would made the MP4 file complete by having both visual and audio portions. I selected Yes.

The MP4 worked on Facebook.

I was able to do my conversion by taking advantage of the free trial. The WAV file was over 5 MB (more like 45 MB) so I couldn't convert it without purchasing Zamzar. The free trial acted as if you were purchasing Zamzar for $0 for 3 days.

I would've loved to keep Zamzar, but I couldn't justify the cost for the number of file conversions I do from or to video formats. I have and use dbPoweramp for audio file conversions. If you're going to handle all your file conversions in Zamzar to me it's a no brainer to get it. Pricing seemed appropriate for software you would be using all the time.

Based on my experience I highly recommend Zamzar.

From 22.8 mb to 3.7 mb. This is a great product and service. it was smooth and fast too.

Been using Zamzar's free service for years... my needs are few and very intermittent, but when I need to convert a file, I really need to convert a file, especially if it's an oddball. Offering a free level of service makes good business sense on Zamzar's part, I get that,... larger customers want kick the tires, drive it around the block a few times before signing up for a paid subscription. But for little guys like me, all I can say is THANK YOU Zamzar for your generosity and fantastic service!

Pros: Unlimited plan is cheap, fast, and bulk download, bulk upload, and bulk conversion are exactly what I need to convert thousands of files in less than a few days. Awesome.

Cons: The "advanced options" window keeps popping up and I don't know how to get rid of it. And it's too bad you can only do 25 at a time. But these are small things
