The folks in Newport were a quality…

The folks in Newport were a quality team. This was my second time in recovery as I didn't "get it" the first time a few years back. This time I was able to completely surrender my incorrect ways of dealing with life. Through accepting a new method of dealing with life's problems, changes and challenges (a higher power so to speak), I was able to begin a new journey with a set of practices and tools (mostly self taught while there at Windward Way through self learning of Taoism and Stoicism to look at life differently. Through this and the staff's excellent assistance in examining my past and current issues and coming up with a more mind, body, soul approach, I was able to escape the web that had held me back for nearly 45 years (solving problems and creating them through drinking excessively). I have been sober for 8 months and 5 days (my app keeps count :) and with my focus on living the remainder of my days with humility, compassion and absolute acceptance, I can find joy around every corner now. Thank you Windward Way for being at the birth of my new life.

AFRICAN AMERICANS DO NOT GO TO THE PHOENIX HOUSE ZINNIA HEALTH IS A SCAM

I completed my treatment at the Phoenix House in Rhode Island. I had the worst experience of my life. The first problem that I had with zinnia is that they offer you something they sell you on a location but when you arrive to the location it is not at all what they promise the second issue I have is at Rhode Island I initially went for inpatient treatment after completing only 3 days of detox because I had detox at home I was strongly urge or strong armed to stay in the residential treatment they felt that I needed to be in a 28-day residential treatment however I am an African-American female and in the entire program there will only three African Americans. We were treated noticeably different from the other residents. They employ associates known as RSS. These people run units I was assigned to the female residential unit ran by Samantha Samantha uses medication as a weapon and as a form of punishment she withheld my medication because I did not agree with her and was not afraid to tell her such this is a practice that they have known about and they did nothing to rectify I attempted to resolve my issues using the grievance process I wrote a total of four grievances while I was at the facility none of them were followed up on or even made mention of after turning it into a counselor when they realize that I was not a person who was out of my wits and I didn't know what humane treatment was they quickly stepped me down and I was step down out of the program a program that they said I desperately need it also I had an issue with it being coed with females sleeping in the same wing with males when they have experienced sexual trauma because this was not promised to me this was not related to me in any type of way I spoke to the director who basically told me that because I was only paying a $1,500 copay that's why I was at the Phoenix house and not in a house and not in a facility that was going to be make me feel safe and make me open to the treatment. After completing detox because I did not want to be housed any further with men I was told if I did not stay I had to find my way back to my home state the only bright star at the Phoenix House in Rhode Island is the therapist Paul and the psychiatrist Sally. I do not recommend zinnia to anyone especially the Phoenix House in Rhode Island zinnia health is a scam for everyone good review they get you have 15 others of us who did not have that experience

It was a breath of fresh air!

I completed treatment at Windward Way recently and it was honestly a breath of fresh air. I did not know what to expect going into it all but the staff were incredibly supportive, the facility was beautiful, and the learnings I took away from the program will fuel my sobriety for the rest of my life. Thank you!!!!
