Zoofy's worker butchered my door

I was in urgent need of replacement of my door lock, since it no longer locked properly.

John agreed to do the job through Zoofy, on a booking for 3 days later (late afternoon). While the timing was tight, I accepted it, assuming I would be at home all day in any case.
Unfortunately, from that point on, the experience rapidly deteriorated.

=== Service Issues ===

On the first visit, John arrived but left shortly after, claiming he lacked necessary parts. From his behavior, it seemed more likely this was due to inexperience — it genuinely appeared he had never replaced a lock of this type before.

He scheduled a follow-up for the next day but refused to come in the morning, despite my request, only agreeing to return between 17:00–18:00.

In reattaching the old lock, he made matters worse: previously, the lock would not secure the door; after his intervention, it would also often fail to open. I spent the next 24 hours essentially locked inside my apartment, unable to leave for fear I wouldn’t be able to get back in.

When he returned the following evening:
- He attempted to install a new lock, but caused severe damage to my door in the process: (1) he chiseled away a large amount of door material in an attempt to fit the lock incorrectly; (2) he drilled straight through the door, enlarging and destroying the interior lock cavity, and misaligned the screw holes — removing critical material where the lock is meant to be secured.
- Ultimately, he gave up, loosely reinstalled the original lock (he was about to leave after only putting 2 out of 6 screws back, and only added the remaining ones after I pointed it out), and told me I should “look for someone else,” as he wouldn’t be able to get another lock for several days.

This second failed attempt occurred late in the evening, leaving me with no time to arrange alternative help — and no functioning front door lock going into the weekend. I remained stuck at home, unable to safely leave even to buy groceries.

The behavior of the worker was unprofessional and the damage he did to my door is appalling.
Please *do not contract this worker* unless you want your property to be damaged.

=== Issues with Zoofy ===

Apparently Zoofy has a policy for which they won't cover any damage done by their workers. This is of course a serious danger for the customers, since it is clear at least some of Zoofy's workers are **dangerously incompetent**. I suggest very strongly to STAY AWAY FROM ZOOFY in the future. I for sure will never user their services ever again.

Zoofy's response came 3 days after I contacted them, so it was utterly useless. Of course I could not have stayed locked inside home for *another* 3 days.

SCAM BUSINESS - last attempt before reporting to the authorities

I tried booking a service through Zoofy, created a profile, and attempted to schedule an appointment — but no one ever showed up, and nothing was confirmed or delivered.

Despite this, I’ve received multiple payment reminders for a service I never received. I’ve contacted both Zoofy and the collection agency several times, explained the situation clearly, and yet I continue to be contacted about a supposed debt of 120 euros.

This is completely unacceptable and feels deeply unethical. If this continues, I will report Zoofy’s practices to the Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM). Asking customers to pay for a non-existent service is not just poor service — it’s misleading.

You submitted an urgent job request through our platform. As part of this process, you received multiple automatic confirmations, including the “we’re working on it” email, the appointment confirmation, and a reminder. The professional assigned to your request attempted to call you twice and, as is standard with urgent jobs, immediately set out to assist you.

However, upon arrival, you were not present at the location. This was frustrating for the professional, who had made time and incurred travel costs to carry out the work. As per our terms, an appointment that cannot go ahead due to a no-show results in a cancellation invoice — which is what you received. In fact, we even adjusted the original invoice in good faith after further communication with you.

Since you refused to pay the adjusted invoice, the matter was transferred to a collection agency — and unfortunately, this has added extra costs.

Using words like “scam” is not only inappropriate, it’s also unfair in this context. We facilitate thousands of jobs every week with independent professionals and handle complaints seriously and with care. In your case, we've responded multiple times and clearly explained the situation — but that doesn’t mean a valid invoice simply disappears.

REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!!

REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE!!!
So first they are sending random guy who doesnt even know how to do work, First thing that he done is asking for more money (CASH ON BLACK & Cash only no cards) because its extra work for him and if we dont want to pay more through zoofy then cash only that they dont see, After that he was making like is big trouble behind of small fix. And on the end for 35 min of work with extra money payed he puts 2 hours of works material that he didnt mention and put a lot of it for extra money and material bringing because he didnt come prepared on job so for 100e JOB he charged me 300e, 81e is job he put materials for 57e and didnt have invoice for any materials and 35e for ophalen that he didnt come prepared, after talking with them they have only put down one hour down and I payed 205e. FIRST THEY ARE SENDING SOMEONE WHO WANTS ONLY MONEY AND EXTRA THROUGH CASH AND AFTER HE OVERCHARGED THE Invoice. WOULDNT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY.

We also want to firmly address your comment about off-platform payment. Payments outside our platform are strictly prohibited. This is clearly communicated during the booking process, in our terms and conditions, on your booking page, in the FAQs, and in every email we send. If a professional suggests this, the right action is to refuse and report it to us immediately — not to proceed with the job and then complain afterwards. We issue these warnings for a reason.

Zoofy has a great customer service

Zoofy customer service helped me with my issue and dealt with it seriously. They explained to me few unclear quotation and I also got refunded from an overcharge.

We paid €120 for nothing

We paid €120 for someone to come over, only for him to tell us he couldn't fix our problem. This could have easily been avoided with better communication beforehand.

When you post a job on Zoofy, they assign you a random professional. We messaged him via WhatsApp beforehand and asked if everything was clear or if he needed more details. He told us that everything is clear. When he arrived, he took a quick look and immediately said he couldn't solve the issue. Apparently, things weren't as clear

Perhaps we could have communicated more to confirm he fully understood our issue. However, I believe it's Zoofy’s responsibility to ensure that the assigned professionals know exactly what's required. As customers, we're not experts, so we can't always know what specific information is necessary. Zoofy earns a commission for every job, so they should ensure that the professionals they send can actually complete the job.

My advice: Always contact the assigned professional in advance and specifically ask how they plan to fix your issue. If their response isn't clear or convincing, cancel the job. Otherwise, you might end up paying €120 just for someone to show up and tell you they can't help.

The website is easy to use

The website is easy to use. It took me just a few minutes to create a profile and then put in a request for help removing building rubble. The contractor came two days later on my requested dated and time. Really good service and communication. Highly recomend.

It’s my first time experience

It’s my first time using this website. I think this is great helper for foreigner who lives in Holland. Customer service react really fast and help me correct my mistake. The plumber also super professional. He try to check the problem in kitchen, but also make sure toilet, wash machine all the sink are okay. The whole team is very sweet and carefulness.

Horrid experience.

Horrid experience.

The person who accepted the job did not at all know what they were doing, they showed me the work ( which was faulty), pressed the payment machine in my face so feeling coerced i payed where upon the man leaves quickly. Customer support did not want to help instead throwing a brick wall up to prevent any recompense. Absolute joke of a company, save your money and go elsewhere.

Absolute thievery

Absolute thievery going on with this company, avoid at all cost unless you like not having the job done and being short 200 euros, good luck with their guarantee of no cure no pay. the moment you remind them of it they change the bill into something else. This company will grab money from your pocket and flip you off while doing it. Avoid at all cost.

A good platform to get required workers but consumer experience not satisfactory

Zoofy is good to organize a professional quickly for the desired job. But if somethings do not go well during the actual work getting those things sorted is really difficult. Contacting zoofy through a customer care is near impossible and the bots just picks up keywords from FAQ and does not really helps. Becomes extremely difficult and frustrating to log in a complaint about the work done to Zoofy. Will seriously rethink engaging again considering the amount we pay.
