As a Dentist, I have no prior experience of fitting and testing RPE. However, I recently attended a Fit Testing Course with Nathan and I now feel fully confident in the fitting and testing of FFP2/FFP3 masks. The course was enjoyable and informative and on completion I was able to straight away start testing the members of the dental team with confidence. I would recommend this course and Nathan to all. Thank you very much Nathan for all of your help.

Seemed very rushed and only 6 passed out of 10 . Masked were not checked before fit test was done and was this the reason so many failed the test as masks are good quality 3M FFP2.

Hi folks,
It is regrettable that you did not discuss this with me prior to my leaving the premises as we may have been able to discuss this in more detail and address the points you raise, rather than have left the 3* review and associated comments. Sadly this was not the case; and so I feel it is key that I do so here so yourself, and others, feel reassured that the testing procedure I adopt is in line with HSE guidance and facilitated in such a way to ensure the safety of those required to wear RPE.
All delegates received a toolbox talk on RPE function and the correct method for 'donning & doffing;' all of which seemed well received at the time and any questions asked by your team were also answered thoroughly.
Following this training, the masks were "checked" visually by myself to ensure that they were worn correctly prior to test. I also ensured that any other PPE & eyewear was considered as part of the test.
The fact that we only got 6 passes out of 10 shows that thorough & robust testing was undertaken. It is my obligation to identify ill fitting RPE so that it isn't put into use and workers remain protected whilst undertaking their daily activities.
I am sorry that you were not happy with the 6/10 outcome in respect of the reputable, compliant RPE you have sourced - especially at a time when RPE itself is in such short supply - but I have a professional & ethical obligation to ensure I'm doing the best possible test. I do somewhat set out as such to identify devices that don't fit or protect, so that pass results will ensure RPE protects those wearing it; which does then mean some may not 'pass'.
You may have had a better pass rate with another, non accredited tester. I, myself am fit2fit accredited as a tester (and trainer), a fact of which I'm quite proud and feel confident that when I pass someone they can be as best as possible to assured they will be protected with their RPE if guidance is followed thereafter.
Happy to discuss further by phone or email. I'll also be more than happy to test on alternative devices if or when you are able to source these.

1974 Rapport helped save us
Nathan trained us just a little over a month ago in RPE qualitative fit testing. His techniques in teaching have clearly been built up over time and lots of experience, his methods are seamless. He’s a really really nice guy too! Having just endured our first week back at work, Nathan has given us the tools to ensure our staff and ourselves are safe going back to work for routine work, and we can’t thank him enough. He’s a true hero, he’s helping us protect not only ourselves but our patients too!
This week wouldn’t have been possible without you, and so a huge shout out to 1974 Rapport, we wouldn’t be where we are without the training day- and without your guidance and support, we would have fallen to many a scam when trying to equip ourselves with the right protective equipment
