Additional faff and costs

Ordered a Bike thing bundle for Denali D7Pro, only 2 extension cables included. 4 required if you're doing 3 circuits set up.... cost is crazy for 2 extra cables

Thanks for your review — but there’s some important context missing here.

The original D7 bundle you purchased in November was complete and included everything required for that setup. There were no missing parts.

You then later purchased a pair of D7 Pro lights separately (not as a bundle) at the end of December. The D7 Pro setup is different and, depending on how you want to run them (e.g. 3-circuit configuration), can require additional harnesses and Y-splitters.

This isn’t a case of items being missing — it’s a case of the setup being changed after the initial purchase. If you had contacted us before ordering, we would have advised exactly what additional parts were needed. We also cover this in our videos, and it’s clearly outlined on the D7 Pro bundle page where the relevant harness options are presented.

We’re always happy to help customers plan their setup properly, but it’s important that the products are purchased in the correct configuration from the outset 👍

Insane postage costs

They had what I wanted at a reasonable price but the postage is over £10! A £28 item becomes over £38 for no reason for something that fits through the letterbox. My own fault but I had to return it but it’s hardly worth it as the £10 postage costs don’t get refunded.

Thanks for your feedback — and we completely understand where you’re coming from.

To be honest, even we’re shocked at how high shipping costs have become recently. With rising fuel prices and carrier increases, it’s had a big impact across the board.

We are actively working on introducing **lower-cost shipping options for smaller items**, especially those that can go through the letterbox. However, due to the size of our operation now, we can’t just add these manually — we need to build it properly into our systems so it’s automated and reliable at scale. That work is underway.

On returns, postage costs are non-refundable as they are paid directly to the courier for the delivery service, not retained by us.

We do appreciate the feedback though — it’s something we’re very aware of and actively improving 👍

Terrible Customer Service

I wanted to flag my experience with A Bike Thing for anyone considering ordering from outside the UK, particularly from Mexico or other countries with strict customs rules.

I ordered an ezCAN II and harness extension kit for my Norden 901 in February 2026 (£226.04). The package was rejected at Mexican customs because ABT included an undeclared candy in the shipment — a practice they openly admit to. The package never reached me.
Despite the problem being entirely caused by their error, they refused to refund me for 50+ days, introducing new excuses each time — including most recently claiming I raised a PayPal chargeback when I never used PayPal at all.

I've documented the entire email chain at my github site and will provide link if contacted.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review.

There are a few important points here that need clarifying for accuracy and fairness to anyone reading this.

Firstly, we did not refuse a refund. The delay was due to the fact that the parcel was in Mexico and had not yet been returned to us. We cannot issue refunds on international orders until goods are confirmed as being returned — unfortunately, shipments to Mexico in particular do present a higher level of complications and delays, which is exactly why we have to follow that process strictly.

Once the goods were confirmed as returned, the situation changed again because a chargeback had been raised via your card provider. Regardless of how the payment was made, all of our payments are processed through PayPal behind the scenes. When a chargeback is opened, it automatically blocks our ability to issue a refund through our system until that case is resolved. This is outside of our control.

Had the chargeback not been raised, the refund would have been processed immediately upon receipt of the returned goods via our normal system.

Regarding the candy — this is something we’ve included in parcels for years and is widely appreciated by customers. It is not something that has caused widespread issues, but we do take on board that customs requirements vary by country.

We understand this has been frustrating, but the delays were due to a combination of customs handling, return transit time, and the chargeback process — not a refusal to resolve the matter.

Great, but one thing missing...

Easy online transaction, fast shipping.

Really needed as there is no obvious place for a rear camera on the R1300GSA with top box. I knocked off a point as I had to source M5-0.8 20mm screws so that I could add this without removing the stock cover plate. For 5+ longer screws should be included with Torx head and a sufficient flange to avoid the need for a washer (I don't want to crack the plastic).

Great Experience with a Fab Team

Great team. Reply to emails within hours and give advise on how to fit things before you have even purchased. Only place to buy lights and accessories in my opinion.
