Very poor communication

I placed an order for a kufiya in mid-November 2023. Since then, I've reached out via email multiple times to inquire about the status of my order. During an online chat on their website, they finally responded after several weeks of my regular reminders, informing me that they were awaiting restock in January 2024. However, it's now March, and they've disabled the web chat and implemented a ticketing system. Despite sending several emails over the last two weeks requesting to cancel the order and receive a full refund, I have not received any response at all. This level of customer service is extremely disappointing and unacceptable in the 21st century.

UPD: I received confirmation of a refund from them on the same day as my Trustpilot review.

Dear Red Brickz,

Thank you for reaching out, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the delays and the communication gap regarding your order. We genuinely appreciate your patience and understand the concern and frustration you're experiencing.

At Abú Wear, we are deeply committed to supporting the Hirbawi factory, the last remaining producer of authentic kufiyas in Palestine. For almost three years, we've been working closely with Hirbawi, not just as a business partnership but in a shared mission to preserve a significant piece of Palestinian heritage and craftsmanship.

The challenges we face are multifaceted, deeply intertwined with the complex geopolitical situation in the region. The Israeli embargo on the West Bank has imposed considerable constraints on the production capabilities of the Hirbawi factory. These restrictions affect everything from the availability of raw materials to the consistent supply of electricity, crucial for operating the looms that weave these traditional scarfs.

Moreover, the embargo impacts the movement of goods and the daily lives of the workers, often making it difficult for them to reach the factory. This, coupled with the escalating demand for kufiyas globally, has put unprecedented pressure on our production timelines.

We want to assure you that your order is of utmost importance to us. Our introduction of a ticketing system aims to enhance our customer service, ensuring that each inquiry, including yours, is addressed promptly and transparently. If you haven't yet received a ticket number, please reach out to support@abuwear.com, and we will ensure your concerns are tracked and resolved as swiftly as possible.

We're more than a business; we're a community that stands in solidarity with Palestinian artisans, and every order, including yours, contributes to this cause. We are working diligently to navigate these challenges and fulfill your order while upholding our commitment to the artisans in Palestine.

Thank you once again for your support and understanding.

Warm regards,

The Abú Wear Team

I’d say -1 if it was possible

I’d say -1 if it was possible. Have emailed numerous times to ask when an item will be shipped to me and one month later still waiting for any kind of response yet they have happily taken the money from my account. Have tried contacting them on instagram page aswell with no response there either.

Dear Sumaiyah,

Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. We understand the frustration that comes with waiting for an order, especially when it's something as meaningful as a kufiya from the Hirbawi factory. We're grateful for your patience and would like to offer some insight into the current situation and how it's affecting our fulfillment process.

Producing a kufiya is a meticulous process, taking on average about 1 hour to make one. These kufiyas are made en masse to ensure efficiency and meet the high demand, not just from us but from other authorized distributors globally. This collective demand has significantly increased, affecting how quickly we can fulfill individual orders.

Over the last year, the landscape of demand and supply has dramatically shifted. Where there was once a surplus of kufiyas readily available across all authorized distributors, we're now experiencing a scenario where global demand far exceeds supply. This shift has introduced challenges in maintaining stock levels and ensuring timely order fulfillment.

The last two batches we received cleared out the remaining stock in the Hirbawi warehouse. Currently, we're still processing orders from October, and the queue continues to grow daily. The fulfillment of orders is directly tied to the variants we receive in each batch from Hirbawi, which is determined by their production output and the collective order book from all distributors.

We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to expedite this process. However, the unique circumstances we're facing, including the increased global demand and the production challenges in the West Bank, have made the wait times longer than anticipated.

We introduced our ticketing system to better manage inquiries and ensure transparency with our customers. If you have concerns or require updates on your order, please reach out on support@abuwear.com and you'll receive a ticket number for tracking and personalized support. If you have reached out over the past week, we will reply as soon as we can.

Your understanding and support mean the world to us, especially during these challenging times. We stand in solidarity with the artisans at Hirbawi, who continue to work under difficult conditions to bring these beautiful pieces of cultural heritage to the world.

Thank you again for your patience and for choosing Abú Wear.

Warm regards,
The Abú Wear Team

Dear Tommy,

We're thrilled to hear about the swift arrival of your Hirbawi kufiya and are deeply grateful for your choice to engage with Abú Wear in such a meaningful way by leaving this review :)

When you purchased a kufiya from us, you actively contributed to the economic empowerment of the Palestinian community. Each purchase directly supports the artisans at the Hirbawi factory, aiding not just in their livelihood but also in the well-being of their families. It's a gesture that extends beyond the physical product to touch lives and foster economic stability in a region where such support is invaluable.

The Hirbawi factory, a cornerstone of cultural heritage, is more than a workplace—it's a space where tradition is woven into the fabric of everyday life. Your support ensures that this legacy of craftsmanship continues, allowing the artisans to pass on their skills to the next generation and keep the story of Palestinian culture alive through each kufiya.

By choosing Abú Wear, you're not just acquiring a piece of fabric; you're becoming part of a larger narrative that champions economic resilience, cultural preservation, and community support in Palestine. This is a narrative of hope, strength, and solidarity.

We at Abú Wear are heartened by your understanding of the impact your choice makes. It's supporters like you who empower us to continue our mission, ensuring that the artisans of Hirbawi receive the recognition and support they deserve.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a pivotal part of our community and for your significant role in promoting economic growth and cultural preservation in Palestine.

Warmest regards,

The Abú Wear Team
