I wanted to make a refund and stop the premium subscription. They didn't responde. I finally deleted my account, and i saw a lot of people that saying that this is not going to solve the problem, they will consider that i didn't stopped the subscription and will take money from my account. The problem is that they are not going to respect the protection of data, and for this i can easly go higher. And by the way, they took more money than they should.

I paid £89.94 last September and, realising it's absolutely hopeless, decided in November to try to delete/cancel my profile & subscription with this scam of a site.
I found I was charged almost £180 this March 2024 for a renewal. Their cancellation process is baffling & really unclear. It's only when I complained did they give me a clue. You must email them with an attached cancellation request. It cannot be in the body of your email. A joke of a site. DO NOT USE!

Out of curiosity, last year I decicided to subscribe for a période of six months. The Overall experience Was very underwelming, with lots of request by phony Accounts and messages hat were clearly auto-generated. So I mived in and quickly firgit about the Thing. Time passed and one day i find in my Mailbox a message by a debtcollector in wich a payment of another 130€ was requested, since the subsription was renovated automaticly. They claimed i had a debt to pay. Had i paied that sum of money my subcription would no le nger be revovated. They threatened me of Further legal consequences in the case i should have decided not to pay The card that i usex was no longer active so they couldn't Just take the money. I found the whole thing rater ludicrous, since they expect me to pay for sonething i have not used and that i don'want to use, as if I subscribed with them a contact for electricity supply.
After several request of payment i received a Letter by a lawyer from my country (italy) with the same threats. No comment.

Long story short, this is a complete farce, the service provided is fishy, the cancellation options opaque (you have to send a fax at least 4 week before the expiration of the subcription period, with no warning mails sent remainding you of the whole Thing), and on top of that they threats People as if they borrowed us money.

Can anyone with a sane mind claim this is all fair and square? How a judge would comment on All of that?

Buyed a month subscription on 03.02.2024 and today I was surprised that I’ve found 60€ being withdrawn from my account, especially because I contacted the customer service in Romania, telling them that I want to cancel my subscription and delete my account. Didn’t have a good experience at all, stopped using the site in the last week, only enterded for a few minutes. I want my money back and this to be over. I did not subscribe for 6 months, just paid for one, which is not fair to be charge extra and AUTOMATICALLY! Don’t recommend this site for none. 0 stars.

As per many other reviews about Academic Singles, be warned – don’t buy premium! It is a scam, especially if you purchase this using your mobile phone. They advertise monthly subscription but take the full 6 months payment (without you knowing). Normally there is an opportunity to review payment options, but this did not appear on the screen. After I saw that they had deducted the total amount for 6 months (which I did not agree to),I contacted them immediately to ask for a refund and cancellation of my subscription. After many emails, they eventually cancelled the subscription but refused to give me a refund. This is very unfair and a very poor business model. There is no transparency or refundable options after payment has been processed. Their customer service is appalling. This dating site is a rip off.

What a scam. No way to cancel and after numerous emails to do so. They expect a letter to be mailed to them. Just a totally scam. All about just taking money and now it’s time to contact the bank. Never use academic singles under any circumstance. Shame on this company .

After reading so many horrifying reviews I believe it is time to settle this fraudulent organisation by reporting them to the Police. I have reported them to my bank and have written to them officially to cancel my subscription because they stole £350 GBP from me even after I had cancelled the subscription and then told me about terms and conditions which they had not told me about before.
I don't believe the reviews which say they found their mates on this site I believe with the level of fraud it must be staff written the rubbish.
So disappointed but will make sure no one suffers what I did and therefore I must take strong action.
To anyone reading this kindly let me know if you are interested in fighting with me because I am going ahead!!!!!

Scamers. Don't buy premium, don't buy anything. Make a research on the internet and check them out. Tehy insert small text and u think u pay only one month but actually next month they are taking at least 5 times more from ur account without any aproval. I made the mistake to create the account from this email on 17 january 2024, transaction on 22.01.2024 , and on 20.01.2024 allready asked for canceling subscription. They are not transparent regarding how you can close your account . I sent my hand writing request for canceling my subscription allready twice ( with all the information they require - registered email, username , transaction date, and how the payment wqas done) . They are not answering , although first time they did answered when i requested my subscription to be cancled only through e-mail.
I allready contacted customer protection service in my country, anyhow i will change my card. Be very carefull this is a"legit" fraud as u are not aware what u are agreeing with when u decide to pay to them that first month

I have deleted my account online. The day I created it I emailed them as they took more money than what was advertised on the site! And then asked them to cancel my account and emailed them again the next day. This was back in September, and no one has replied to my emails. INSTEAD I HAVE BEEN BOMBARDED WITH EMAILS FROM A DEBT COLLECTION COMPANY IN GERMANY! PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THESE GUYS, THEY ARE ROBBERS!

After I emailed them my proof they are still not taking any responsibility and can't send me proof that they emailed me. Who uses a fax machine nowadays! And who post out letters? Then they will come back with saying oh we never received your letter, show us proof you sent it!

Still stand by my review, they are huge scammers, please do not use them. What do we need to do to get them out of business?

Don't buy premium or be expected to be scammed and threatened. They use many forms of deception (eg. faded small text) to make you unaware that you will get charged much more very soon.

Unlike other services, that terminate when there is no payment, this one treats you with additional charges and starts sending threats to your inbox.

People working there, hope you are aware that a regulator will cut this business at some point and you will be prosecuted.

SCAM SCAM SCAM. Please do not download and subscribe any plans with them. You have no control over your account and won’t be able to delete the account as well. I’ve been billed at their will and bills have been transferred to debt collection agency. Even when I’m ready to pay and get done with them and asked them to delete my account, their response is they are no longer responsible. They are scammers and needs to be held accountable and I’m exploring legal options.

There’s nothing academic about the client base - very disappointing.

I am so disappointed by your service. I have been requesting for cancelation of the subscription but I am not assisted. Money is deducted from my account. I really would never recommend this site. It operates like a scam.

Biggest scam ever, it is impossible for a cancellation and when you’re finally able to cancel it, they send you an incasso firm with the note that you still have to pay membership and administration costs in total of 70,96€.

Academic Singles needs to be put out of business. The commentary on this site by Academic Singles consistently refers to fine print however your ads are clearly misleading people into signing up for what appears to be monthly membership which is actually long term without knowing this. Your profiles appear fake hence why I canceled straight away only to he hounded by you demanding payment after canceling in writing then accusing me and of signing up with a different email addesss. I am taking this to the Australian Securities to complain about the poor and unethical business practices of Academic Singles.

This is a scam company. When I realised immediately after I had paid that they had no potential matches for me ( and many sounding false) I asked for my money back under the law that says you can change your mind about online purchases within 14 days. They refused, saying that I’d already ‘used’ the site, but how else would I know that the site was useless.
£120 I will never get back and I’m asking a journalist friend to investigate this company.

I had virtually no messages until I ...yet again...tried to cancel my subscription.
Suddenly, I have an inbox full of messages...???

Got a couple of matches until I cancelled, then bombarded by lots of fake profiles.

Had a horrible experience signing up to this site. The checkout page was misleading so ended up having to pay a huge amount. No proper customer service procedure either.
