Disorganised and Keep Your Money

I cancelled my membership in May 2023 and received the "sorry to see you go, have a free month on us". I said no and thought no more of it. Due to my own stupidity I had not been checking my payments and the payment to Acorn was not cancelled. Even though I have sent them proof that I requested cancellation and they acknowledged it, it is "not company policy" to refund monies. I will keep fighting this as it's their error. Also, content quite old. They've now come back stating that they will return the monies. Still wouldn't use again.

Better Not Want To Watch More Than 4 Shows In A Day

Acorn will only allow you to stream four shows in one day. This includes just taking a quick look at a show to see if you like it. This is counted. They site bogus reasons for this. Too many devices being used at once is one of them! I'm the only one streaming! Also some other technical mumbo jumbo that makes no sense. I do not have this issue with any other streaming service so why only with ACORN.

Quality, not quantity!

Quality, not quantity! Fantastic original programming. We've been subscribed for several years now and still enjoy Acorn. We've just started watching Signora Volpe, thoroughly enjoyed the first episode.

Terrible

Terrible! Very little content. For $6.99 a month there are better choices starting with Britbox and Masterpiece. Their customer service is also bad- I think the responses are from AI. Nothing is personalized.

Poor

I bought a subscription for Acorn TV from Roku through my Roku Stick. I tried to log in to watch it and Acorn TV think I am trying to log in to a defunct account I had with them a while ago, so are blocking my access to my Roku subscription. Their helpdesk weren't any use and suggested that I cancel my subscription with Roku, who will not refund me as it's Acorn TVs fault and not theirs.

Very very difficult to cancel fee trial

Signed up for free trial and tried to cancel after a couple of hours because of constant buffering and content. It;s taken so many emails with them :issuing a ticket to be reviewed: Finally got them on the phone to cancel and have received an email confirmation but I'm still not sure it's a done deal. Take my advice and avoid. I have notified my credit card company to block any charges.

Despite continued promises from acorn…

Despite continued promises from acorn this is the 4th month that despite being paid my access to their programs has been blocked to me by them even though they have taken their payment, I can understand the odd hiccup but 4 times in a row and constant confirmations by them that its sorted, clearly it isn't, I'm not sure that its worthy this monthly hassle to continue remaining with them

I cancelled 6 months ago but…

I cancelled 6 months ago but subscription fees continued to be deducted. They found all sorts of reasons not to refund the fees, but ‘as a gesture of goodwill’ offered me a free month and a refund of the last 2 months which included a fee taken out after I lodged the claim. Also did not reply to a number of my follow up messages and kept saying it was resolved. Will never subscribe to Acorn again.again.

Streaming issues

Streaming issues. Via an LG smart tv through its browser. My connection isn't the current fastest, but other providers manage 1080 and even 4K - when available.
Regularly it's slow to load, sluggish to respond to remote control, and so far I've not had any programme stream without a freeze up with that dreaded spinner-spinning for an age followed by error code "PLAYER_ERR_TIMEOUT".
Funny how Netflix streams fine, Prime streams fine - albeit with a VERY sluggish interface - at 1080dpi
Yet Acorn can't manage any kind of reliable stream at only 720dpi. 4K appears to be a distant dream for Acorn customers. with service right now that's more nightmare than dream....
One more month I'll give them. After that, no more.

I made the mistake of buying an annual…

I made the mistake of buying an annual membership based on what I saw on Acorn UK. When I started my viewing in Canada they had very little that I was interested in watching. It seems that Acorn Canada is well down the list. When I did tried to watch something, the site kept crashing, so after a month of total aggravation I cancelled my membership. They, of course, kept the full payment for the year.

Streaming service is terrible

The shows are great when you can watch them. I tried to watch: My Life is Murder, last night and it stopped half way through. It would not play after repeated tries. Their streaming service is terrible and the worst I have encountered. I think they have problem when too many people are watching. I watched the same show today at 1 pm and it was great. I don’t recommend if you watch at night and don’t call or write their tech support, they either don’t care or know they have problems they can’t fix.

I was given a one year gift…

I was given a one year gift subscription through AcornTV. This membership could not be accessed through my TV. After months of communications with Acorn customer service I still do not have access and Acorn will not refund the service.

I tried a seven day trial through Amazon and had no problems with access. Still, Acorn TV will not transfer me to Amazon access nor refund my service so that I can transfer myself.

I was told to wait out the current billing cycle. What does that mean? Will Acorn finally provide me service next year?

Deceptive, bait and switch, poor support

This is a copy of an email sent to Acorn. Haha. Horrible company.
Five years ago I got your app and had nothing but problems on Apple devices. I was always led to believe that it was the fault of my devices and me. I had extreme difficulty canceling my membership. When I saw that a different company owned Acorn, I decided to give it another try. It has been nothing but problems. Once again representatives blamed me, my devices, my network, etc. I see from the numerous critical reviews on the App Store that others are having the exact same issues. Your response to them is usually to once again blame them, their devices, and their network. Odd that Apple owners all over are having the same problems on multiple devices and it is somehow our fault.
Numerous shows do not load and the number has been growing. The screen is just black. The app buffers and buffers and does nothing. The ads load at the top and the rest is blank. You go to watch a show and it tells you you need to pay but in settings it says your account is active. You’ll log out and log back in and it tells you your username and password are wrong. You ask for a password reset and it tells you you can’t have it. I lost track of the dozens of different error messages I have received and since the numbers are so long it’s impossible to remember them all.
I have no problems with any other streaming app. It is you and you alone. You are losing pissed off Apple customers. In five years you have not been able to fix this. Support tickets go nowhere. Once again I am led to believe that I am the only one having these problems and it is all my fault. Have you read the online reviews?
Looks like it’s time to cancel again and just go back to BritBox. At least this time after days of trying I will be able to cancel through Apple subscriptions.
You are the WORST streaming service that I have ever encountered. Who writes an app that doesn’t work with Apple devices? And don’t even think of blaming Apple (yeah you blame them a lot also). Funny how EVERYONE is to blame BUT YOU.
On the most recent call to you, I was told to cancel my Apple subscription and subscribe directly to Acorn. I did that 5 years ago and then couldn't cancel. I had to put a stop payment at the bank. I see again from the online reviews that others are also having difficulty canceling.
YOU ARE DECEPTIVE. YOU BAIT SUBSCRIBERS AND THEN THE SHOWS ARE BLANK.
On an App Store review, the developer responded and told me to contact an email address that DOES NOT EXIST. Are you kidding me?

I've been subscribed to acorn TV for… 18 months

I've been subscribed to acorn TV for over a year when suddenly I'm no longer able to watch anything and get the following error code "THE VIDEO YOU ARE TRYING TO WATCH IS ENCRYPTED AND WE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DECRYPT IT".
After repeated attempts to have this fixed I still get the same form email from them and nothing has been resolved. I'm trying to cancel now.
