Shameful

Flex fare, date change requested, €202 more! I wonder how much I would have paid if it hadn't been Flex.
Flight A3 335 from Chania to Athens on September 6, 2025, delayed by 2 hours -> connection to Athens _FCO on time.
Having a broken shoulder, I asked the stewardess if she could put my bag in the overhead locker; she looked at me as if I'd sworn at her and demanded that I help her (!!). Ridiculous dinner: a tiny tub of cold pasta and a cracker (1 cracker!) Shameful, never again.

Losing our ID on our return from…

Losing our ID on our return from Constantinople to Athens on 27/7/25, we had the misfortune of being stranded at the airport. After contacting the Greek embassy, the company we were traveling with, told us that we would have to buy new tickets (6 times more expensive than AEGEAN) and take one of the morning flights to Greece.
Then we decided to look for tickets through another company.
Our problem was solved by Mr. Murat Bahin employee of Αegean. With his help we were able to return without stress and at a very good price. I would like to thank both the person himself and the Aegeanairlines that chose this person to be part of its workforce. Mr. Bahin is perhaps the kindest person I have ever met, he is empathetic and able to solve all problems. I thank him from the bottom of my heart and wish him the best. Personally, this person should be awarded as the employee of the year.
I would like to add that all the staff at the Gate at 4am were incredibly polite and helpful.

You won’t arrive on time

Never on time. Food sucks. Rude staff. App is not user friendly and never works. Delays during transit and they make you stay in Athens until they book another flight for you. Very bad. Would not recommend.

Used to like them, but not anymore

Used to like this company but now they really let us down. We missed a connecting flight due to their delay and had to spend the night at the airport, in addition to booking new tickets which we paid for ourselves. Now they are blatantly refusing to compensate us, so we have turned to lawyers for handling it further.

Not one single representative from the company cared to offer the slightest help, even though we did nothing wrong ourselves.

Will never be flying with them again and we will make sure to advise others to avoid them at all costs as well.

EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTING

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with this airline. I was about to board when an assistant denied my boarding, claiming I didn’t have a Schengen entry stamp, even though I had been in the Schengen area for over a month.

Instead of calmly checking, she loudly yelled at me in front of other passengers, mishandled my passport, and spoke to me in an unprofessional and insulting way, even saying I shouldn’t be allowed to set foot in Greece and that I would now have to explain myself to the police.

Minutes later, she found the stamp in my passport, something that could have been avoided if she had taken a moment to look before berating me. By then, I had missed my flight. To make matters worse, the airline did not rebook me on the direct flight I had paid for. Instead, I was given a cheaper, non-direct flight at an inconvenient time, and I ended up arriving home 14 hours late.

Animal endangerment and neglect by Aegean Airlines

Aegean Airlines allowed three of our kittens to be left in the hold on one of their planes that had just flown three hours from Thessaloniki to Paris, meaning they were sent back to Thessaloniki ANOTHER three hours, in the crate, without food, water, or the ability to use a litter tray.
They then tried to tell us it would be TWO DAYS before they could fly them back to Paris to us.
Absolutely unacceptable, from an airline who transport animals.
Do not use this airline if you care about the safety of your animals, or animals in general.
Criminal.

"Low cost" airline when it comes to service without the ticket price benefit.

expect low cost customer experience without the ticket price benefit.
They are thieves! i called customer service and they told me that to update tier (i needed 1570 miles) i can either travel within 2 days, buy miles or get gifted miles. i was gifted 2000 miles (and they charged me ££ for the online only service) only to then tell me that these miles cannot be used against my allowance to upgrade and they wont refund me the charge either!!!

also last time i flew with them i told them that i suffer from migraines and i need a lot of water and their response was "you are only entitled 1 cup of water"!! i paid £400 for that flight and they dont even give you more than 1 cup of water!!

They act premium but they are thieves! dont offer any benefit to loyal customers (i have been using them solely for 3 years trying to accrue miles, only for them to keep changing how many miles i am allowed to accrue and thus never been able to hit my benefits that was originally promised)

Very bad experience!

Very bad experience!
When checking in, Aegean’s system automatically assigned seats in a way that placed my 3-year-old in a different row from me and my husband. I called and had the seats rearranged by phone, and when I checked in, I received boarding passes with those corrected seats.

However, at baggage drop-off, all our seats were changed again. We were moved to the very back of the plane with the explanation that the flight was full and they “had to move us.” This happened on both flights. Completely unacceptable, especially when traveling with a small child.

Loyalty? What loyalty? Just unacceptable customer service

My daughter has an Aegean Pass and she was due to fly from London to Athens today but unfortunately due to illness she is unable to fly. Due to their loyalty scheme, Aegean also offer some free upgrade coupons and my daughter used this upgrade.
When she phoned the airline to change her flight as it was impossible for her to fly due to having the flu with high temperature, they told her that if she does not fly today, the ticket cannot be changed and she loses her ticket and her money altogether.
I found it difficult to believe that a big airline like Aegean would be so unsympathetic especially towards a loyal customer who spent a lot of money in buying an Aegean Pass.
I decided to call them my self and their representative very coldly was only interested to direct me to the small writing in their terms and conditions on their website. Who reads 5 pages of Ts &Cs of small writing anyway?
I told the agent that it was unfair to be treating loyal customers in that way (both my wife and I are also Gold members) but she continued to quote the small writing on their website and there was nothing she could do.
I told her that their customer service was unacceptable and that as a family we would stop flying with them.
Between the four members of my family we fly with Aegean in a excess of 30 flights per year.
That business will now go to other airlines.
Aegean needs to realise that it's the customers that decide whether they will continue flying their planes.

UPDATE 18.8.2025

Because I'd like to be fair and objective, Aegean responded to my written complaint within two days offering a free ticket to my daughter as well as reinstating her upgrade coupon and refunding the taxes.
So I am updating my score from 1 to 3
Thank you Aegean!
I still believe however that the company needs to revisit and resolve this issue so other customers don't have to suffer from it.

Ridiculous pricing

This airline was recommended to me by a friend, but my experience was far from positive. It's common knowledge that flight prices fluctuate based on searches, but this was one of the most blatant examples I’ve encountered.
I installed the app and selected a ticket priced at €218. I then tried to activate the youth discount, but the system kept throwing an error as it wouldn't recognize my last name. I suspect this was because I have multiple last names and had selected the last one, but there was no option to edit or change it. I attempted to contact customer service but couldn’t get through.
Meanwhile, the ticket price jumped to €256. I tried again on another device, and it had increased to €300. A third device showed €450. I also tried booking through third-party sites that initially displayed the €218 price, but once selected, I’d get a message saying the fare was no longer available.
Frustrated, I ended up booking a different flight with a layover for €220. I deleted the app, but later reinstalled it thinking it might be useful in the future. To my surprise, the same €218 ticket was showing up again! Ridiculous, to say the least.

Aegean air- where you pay extra and do not get what you paid for and bag check agents have no concept of how many spots sre on the flight

I booked a flight on Aegean Air on 8/12 from Heathrow to Athens. I am unbelievably disappointed in the baggage process for this airline and the bag claim attendants. I paid extra to purchase a seat in economy Comfort Flex that included a personal item, a carry on, and a checked bag. My carry on bag had many essential items in it that were to be kept with me at my seat, and it was smaller than the maximum size allowance and below the weight limit. Upon arrival to Heathrow at the baggage drop I was informed by an agent (seemingly associated with Aegean Air, unfortunately I did not get her name or badge ID)that I was required to check my carry on because the flight was full. This made me very uncomfortable as I paid extra money to have a carry on bag on board the plane with me by my seat. I have expensive and essential items in there that are too large to fit in my personal item bag and need to be kept with me in my sight on the flight. I did witness her tell a few other people as well that they would need to check their bags automatically (ie not gate check). You would think they would not allow people to purchase carry ons once the limit was reached. I am very worried about my carry on being lost or stolen as I had to check it unexpectedly and am extremely upset that I paid all this extra money to have it on board with me and it was taken away unfairly. I figured this would be the rule for everybody but alarmingly when I got to my gate, I noticed multiple people seated in the cheapest seats in the back of the plane that had huge rolling carry ons and personal items, and they were allowed to board with them. Many of them checked in later than me and my group. I kept waiting for the bins and seats to fill up like that bag check agent claimed but unfortunately she did not know what she was talking about. Upon completion of boarding; I was extremely perplexed to discover that the ComFort flex section was nowhere near full like that baggage agent claimed (honestly the back seemed to have vacant spots as well). My row (11D) had a vacant middle seat, and most of the rows in my section had at least one vacant seat like 10 B, 8A, 12B, 14A, 2 free in row 15, and so on. So clearly, the flight and my section were not as full as that bag check agent claimed. I was even more upset to discover that after boarding was completed there were 2 completely empty overhead bins over my seat row and another mostly empty bin on the row behind. I am alarmed and disturbed that the flight fullness was misrepresented and worried my carry on bag is now at risk of being lost or stolen when I paid extra money to have that carry on bag with me. I find it unacceptable that I (and a bunch of other people) were told we were unable to carry our carryon bags on board to be near our seats when we paid extra money to have that privilege. I am also extremely alarmed that the baggage agent at Heathrow made false claims about the fullness of the flight and took my carry on away to be checked when it never needed to be. When you board priority and pay extra for carry ons and there are completely empty bins over your seat it is very upsetting to realize your carry on bag was taken away for no reason. I always pay for the maximum amount of baggage on any flight so I can have my carryon safely on board above my seat. Hopefully corporate can refund me the 50 or so Euros i paid to ensure that I had my carry on with me . I have never had an issue with this on Delta, United, Singapore air, Southwest, Jet Blue; even extreme budget airlines such as Breeze, Spirit, and Frontier do better than this!!!! This makes me hesitant to ever fly with this airline again. I am extremely disappointed and disturbed by my experience on this flight. Please be aware when you book that the bag check agents at Heathrow make false claims and Aegean air apparently misrepresents the amount of available bins and such so people do not get all of what they paid for. I took photos of the 3 of the empty bins right over my seat where the carry ons for me and my group that we paid extra money for should have been allowed to be placed but am unable to upload.

Very very bad

Very very bad. Luggage that did not follow me in a Aegean flight connection. They do not care of the passengers. No care. They have waited for more than 6 days for informing me where my luggage was. They don’t care. Bad people, bad services

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Aegean Airlines. On our way to Santorini from Sweden (via Athens), the gate for our connecting flight didn’t open until very late, causing unnecessary stress. We had a pre-booked taxi waiting for us in Santorini, and the delay meant the hotel staff had to work overtime to help us with check-in when we finally arrived.

On our return flight from Athens, the gate opened more than an hour late because the flight was overbooked. In my opinion, that’s not the passengers' problem – it felt like the airline had overbooked on purpose to make extra money and then looked for volunteers to take a later flight.

We didn’t take the offer, but the delay led to us arriving 4–5 hours late, which caused us to miss our bus from Arlanda. I ended up having to book a taxi instead, which was very expensive.

Unreliable service, poor communication, and no regard for the impact on passengers.

Disorganized and Disappointing – Delays Are the Norm

I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel like people need to know what to expect with this airline. First, you have to pay extra just to pick a seat—there’s no free allocation at all, which feels like a money grab. Even after paying, don’t expect anything special.

But honestly, the worst part is the delays. It’s become the norm on every flight I’ve taken with them lately. It doesn’t matter if it’s morning or evening—there’s always a delay, and never any real explanation or updates. You just end up sitting around, waiting, and getting more and more frustrated.

And to top it off, sometimes the landings feel pretty rough. It’s nerve-wracking when the plane hits the runway hard or seems unstable. It just adds to the overall stress of an already disappointing journey.

All in all, between the constant delays, the extra fees, and the uncomfortable flights, I really can’t recommend this airline to anyone. I’ll be looking for other options next time.

Stealing and Double charging - baggage fees

On a round trip from Athens, and while I paid for four luggages (2 on each flight) at the time of booking, in May 2025, I was asked to pay for the luggages - again. This is after I had already provided the booking and the proof of payment to Aegean ahead of my flight, as I could not see them reflected at the time of online check in. I wanted to avoid being charged twice for something I had already paid for and spent significant time sharing all proofs with the customer service team. Yet on July 27, I was asked to pay an extra 70 EUROS for 2 luggages. I have been trying to contact the customer service team, I have filed a formal refund request, and today was denied it - the team did not review carefully the documents I had shared. They're stealing, clearly, from customers.
