This was a good choice for me!
This was costly but I wanted to KNOW! The only problem I have is that I wasn’t sent a certificate and physical paperwork with more details on familial connections for my tribe. But I still feel that this was the best choice for me!

Extremely long process to receiving your results even when status is updated to complete.

Extremely expensive for the overall process.
Start to finish is 5 months and counting. Still unable to review my results.
I am truly heartbroken and disappointed…
I am truly heartbroken and disappointed with this company. They advertise they will create an African DNA profile for me to share with my children and grandchildren. What I received was a European profile! That's it! Nothing African, about my African lineage or closely African, just European! And to add insult to injury, they had the nerve to send me that garbage certificate that says, "Congratulations". I did 23andMe last year, got my results back within 45 days, and had a percentage breakdown of my DNA, where it showed I was 9.1% European. It also provided me with my African lineage breakdown and summation relating to those breakdowns. What prompted me to have my DNA analyzed was my pilgrimage to Ghana during the Year of Return. While there, I met a lady in the market who looked like she could have been my mother's twin! African Ancestry is not ethical and growing their bank accounts using our yearning to know about African lineage. Shame on you for exploiting us! Was my DNA truly analyzed or did you conduct your test, got a European result, and quit? I will not recommend your company to anyone! Shame on you for exploiting us!
waste of time and money
I wish I never paid a single cent for this kit. My results came months late, the company gave me such a runaround, and I am skeptical of my results. The results are pathetically explained and it makes you wonder if they even tested your mouth swabs at all. I would rather point people towards 23AndMe than to spend their money here. I love to support our black businesses but this felt like a total scam. I'm so disappointed.
The only incredible thing about this company is their marketing. That's it.
This company takes forever and wastes your time.
They don’t have a way to contact them immediately. You have to wait until they get back to you. Then, when they do, they don’t follow the directions of the buyer. I spent $300 and didn’t even get to get MY RESULTS THAT I PAID FOR.
Be careful cancelling dna info
When I heard that dna could be shared with other "entities" (a few years ago) I decided to have Ancestry delete the presentation of my info. What I didn't know was that I wasn't going to have my own access to it anymore. I just didn't want them selling it to healthcare agencies or the government. They should have been clearer with their information, in my opinion. I paid $100 for the test and now I have nothing to show for it!
I do wish I was not in this position
I do wish I was not in this position. I purchased 2 tests. I wrote the company a month after sending back the kit and received a response that neither test had been received. I was told to check back in 2 weeks. I waited 3 weeks. Now, I’m getting either automated responses after receiving a response that I would be contacted in a few days.
The lack of response is unprofessional. So far, my $600 investment has been unfruitful.
Top-notch customer service
Top-notch customer service! It's obvious how much they care about their customers and their work. Every time I called (and I called many times) each representative was patient and thoroughly answered all of my questions. I could "hear them smiling" through the phone. ALSO - they never sell or share your DNA or personal information - what's better than that!
I was really happy to get the answer
I was really happy to get the answer, the only thing is that it would had be good to have a small resume on the tribes, and it would be cool to have a French version of the information.
The results are truly fascinating and a wonderful experience.
The experience is amazing & the results are fascinating.
Thanks African Ancestry.
A true blessing. I was even able to attend and receive my Igbo name less than four months later. Now, on to discover the other lineages of my families' tribes.
We are TIKAR!!
I received our results on Friday 1/10 (my sister's birthday). So I invited everyone to meet me for breakfast the next morning. I made the presentation. Everyone was so excited and the questions started coming. My sister asked "where does the Gullah come in"? I told her we'd have to do another test with one of our mom's male relatives. We are 99.4% match with the Tikar people in Cameroon! WE ARE TIKAR!!

I know you informed me of the time differences in receiving my results, but when that estimated time frame expired, I began to panic. I was extremely anxious to know who I am. When I finally received the results, I forget all disappointments. I am in surreal land. I am excitedly stunned. Never imagined being a part of such a powerful group. This fits me and my family's demeanor. Love you African Ancestry. I am complete.

African Ancestry has changed my life…
African Ancestry has changed my life completely. Most of my adult life I wanted to know my past, what part of Africa did I come from. A few years ago ordered my DNA through Ancestry.com. The results revealed that I was from Cameroon, Nigeria, and Ghana. African Ancestry revealed not only the nation but the tribe of my ancestry. When I found that I can from Cameroon and my tribe is Bamileke, the result blew my mind. My self-esteem shot through the ceiling and since that time I've been researching and planning a trip to the region. I'm praying for conflict to die down in Cameroon so that I can visit the place of my Ancestry. Thank you African Ancestry you are the best thing that's happened to in my adult life. Bless you and may God bless tremendously for the work you all are doing
