Africa Odyssey Reviews 

This is my second time using Africa Odyssey, and third Africa multi-stop itinerary. Everything was first class from the initial scoping, amending, suggesting alternatives. Down to delivery in resort, people, communication, timings and quality of accomodations recommended. First class, and cannot wait to go again.

Our second time of using Tanzania Odyssey - this time to the Selous & Ruaha. Dave’s insights on the various camps were extremely helpful and his final recommendations spot on. We stayed at Sand Rivers & Usangu Expedition Camp - two very different experiences; both first class combining to make an extra special trip to southern Tanzania. Our experience at Usangu was well worth the longish journey to get there; a really great camp in which to experience first hand the conservation challenges faced in this remote part of the Ruaha. We loved it!

Everything was planned and carried out professionally. The tour companies that were hired treated us like gold! The staff were accommodating, the drivers were knowledgeable , the food and drink delicious and the wildlife viewing was incredible! We will definitely use them again for another trip!

We booked this spectacular camp through Africa Odyssey and we had a truely amazing experience, particularly as we live in Australia and Africa Odyssey are in England. We have used this company before and find the staff friendly, helpful with a great knowledge of the different camps and the make all internal flights and connections so easy with no hassles. Sam from Africa Odyssey recommended Anabezi as the camp which would suit us. He was so right..it is a little piece of heaven in Africa. Fantastic accommodation, private vehicle, great food and superb game viewing both by vehicle and on the water. Where else would you sight 12 leopards in 4 days? Just a wonderful experience.

Our first time using Africa Odyssey, with Ted Archdale, was for our trip in 2012 to Tanzania. We knew then when we took our next trip to Africa we would use them (and Ted) again. For our 2023 trip, we traveled to Botswana (Chitabe Camp, Little Vumbura Camp, and Savuti Camp) and Zambia (Thorntree River Lodge), as well as overnights in Johannesburg, South Africa. All connections worked flawlessly. Even, when we had to leave the United States a day earlier than planned, to get out before a hurricane, Ted accommodated this without any issues. The camps we stayed at were fabulous. In Botswana, Ted suggested we stay at a dry camp, a wet camp, and a mixed camp. His recommendations were spot on and met our wildlife sighting goals, and then some! It actually felt like it was raining “cats and dogs” (i.e. leopards, cheetahs, lions, wild dogs – including cubs and pups). The guides were excellent, the managers and staff were delightful in their hospitality, and the food was wonderful. At Thorntree we took advantage of their included Zambia/Zimbabwe Victoria Falls itinerary, and white rhino walk in Mosi-oa-Tunya national park. At this drier time of year, the Zimbabwe side was more impressive than the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, but both sides were worth the time. We certainly would recommend Africa Odyssey to anyone looking to travel to Africa.

Our trip was an amazing experience. Dave Fuller has helped me plan several African trips and he has been very informative, patient and professional with regards to his planning and advice. We were granted a credit during COVID which we were very appreciative of and used recently. We look forward to our next African eperience and will definately book Africa Odyssey again.

They were amazing!
Literally took care of everything (other than the international flights). When we got off the plane at our final destination there was someone waiting for us, and they literally took us through immigration, and then to our hotel. We did not have to think about where we had to go next, where we would eat, it was amazing. SO relaxing, and being able to enjoy the trip without the hassle of traveling, was exactly what we wanted. We will be traveling again with them in the future.

The trip was planned thoughtfully and was perfectly suited to our family group. We encountered many travel hurdles including passport & visa issues and cancelled flights - none of which were due in any part to Africa Odyssey- but Sam helped and supported us through every stage.
His expertise not only helped guide us through it but relieved so much stress and allowed us to get on with the trip and enjoy it all.
We are typically independent travellers but this changed our views on having expert planning help & we can’t wait to book our next big adventure.

The Africa Odyssey Office we’re very flexible in arranging local transfers to accommodate any subsequent changes in international flights by the flight operator. The logistical operations arranged on the ground for my adventure in Zambia we’re seemless and went smoothly providing the customer (myself) with a comfortable and stress free journey and connection. The local staff at each safari camp were very friendly and engaging ensuring i had all the service needs required including excellent food served 3 times a day and very clean pristine rooms as living quarters. Africa Odyssey consistently demonstrates very high standards having been on two separate safari trips to Africa with this operator. I will be using them again and highly recommend them as an operator for anyone who wants to see amazing wildlife and connect with locals whilst on a Safari.

African Odysseys’Sam helped us find our perfect South African Safari….. the brief was a first Safari experience for our 10 year old twins. South Africa was suggested as a location as easy flights and no malaria.
We selected Camp Ndlovu based on recommendation from Sam , this Camp was just perfect…..all the arrangements from greeting at Joburg helping us through the airport our transfer driver the meet up with the team in the glorious Welgevonden Reserve was seamless.
The Camp itself was brilliant, we had the place to ourselves much of the time, All the staff could not have been kinder , on leaving the Camp we all felt very sad to leave behind the beauty of the camp (with its stunning location on a waterhole )and it’s team.
African Odyssey have helped us arrange 2 holidays of a lifetime now!! We would recommend their experience to anyone wanting this kind of adventure, we hope to be able to have further adventures on this awe inspiring continent

This was my 2nd time to Africa with Africa Odyssey after 10 years. Again our rep. at Africa Odyssey listened to what I expected out of the trip what our expectations were and wanted to see. Following their detailed research Dave set up a perfect bespoke program for my daughter & I. We had a one of a kind unforgettable 10 days in magnificent Botswana. I would recommend Africa Odyssey to anyone that wants a remarkable Africa experience.

Excellent communication, trip was organised seamlessly and to fit the budget we had. All aspects of the trip were incredible with great attention to detail. Every transfer/pick up went smoothly. The hotels were lovely and the safari experience went beyond what we could’ve hoped to expect at Lake Manze. Our guide JJ and driver AK couldn’t have been better, their knowledge and experience made for a fantastic 1st safari for us.

Sam Hankss listened to us carefully as we explored all the many options for the once in a life-time safari- and asked good questions - "what are your priorities" "have you thought about ...?" I was therefore very pleasantly surprised that Sam tailored our itinerary into an absolutely perfect adventure. The logistics were quite complicated but we NEVER had to wait anywhere, whether a helicopter pick up or a remote landing strip. The lodges were extremely comfortable and the guides exceptional. The follow through - replies to questions and above all the knowledge available gave us confidence and an AMAZING unforgettable vacation - thankyou

We had a wonderful trip to Cape Town, Botswana und Mozambique. In Botswana we stayed in two beautiful, authentic Kwando Camps (Kwara and Lagoon). They both really provided a great experience: wonderful people, great variety of activities, wonderful landscapes that you have almost to yourself and a great variety of animals. In Mozambique we visited Azura Benguerra Resort. The hotel is a dream and wonderfully located on the Indian Ocean. Everything was perfect: the people, the villas, the views, the food. If you plan a Safari in Southern Africa and want a beach holiday afterwards, think of Mozambique. The country is very well accessible from Johannesburg and much closer than Mauritius or the Seychelles e.g. Sam from Africa Odyssey once again has organized a wonderful trip for us! Our Zimbabwe safari was brilliantly organised by Dave from Africa Odyssey. His expertise and recommendations were spot on, and all the arrangements went smoothly. I have no hesitation in recommending Africa Odyssey if you’re looking for a top-end safari experience.

Wow, just wow! After looking at a number of tour/travel companies a friend introduced us to Sam at Africa Odyssey. We chatting about our wish list, likes, dislikes and quickly agreed on an itinerary that met our budget. The whole experience from a 4 night safari in Greater Kruger and stays at Victoria Falls, Cape Town and Hermanus exceed our expectations. Accommodation was amazing, transfers seamless. Sam was easy to talk to and had an great understanding of what would give us the best experience. Any query, be it in an evening or at a weekend, was quickly responded to. We will certainly be using them again.
