Expats/Dual citizens beware!
As a dual US/DK citizen Sydbank denied us mortgage loan for summerhouse in Denmark. We therefore had to switch to Jyske Bank. Fair enough, legislation has made it hard for banks to service customers who live abroad, and Sydbank has taken the position NOT to help highly educated and well paid expat customers. We have a solid economy in all respects and never had any issues until this point.
Part of the transfer was closing investment an account. Sydbank charged monthly fees on the associated/connected account even though there was no activity and they were aware of our situation. Fees piled up, and when my wife was back here in DK to close the account, they dragged their feet reserving "up to 12 weeks" to close the accounts and transfer the stock.
On top of this they charged 600DKK fee as a kick in the rear end out the door. Final cost for a simple account closure: in excess of 1000DKK
Never have we been so poorly and disrespectfully treated by any bank.
Fees upon fees, and just downright slow ...or rather absent customer service.
Use this bank at your own peril. Danes abroad Danesworldwide beware.

Put my unused account in negative by just adding fees
Had an unused account with DKK 900 in while living abroad. Gave me no updates until they reached out and said they had now charged so many fees that my account way in negative and they could not close it because there was a small negative balance. Stay away from them and look for forward thinking alternatives like Nordea, Danske Bank or Lunar

Not the best bank to be at the moment. As former client og Alm.Brand I can say that the treatment from them towards me changed so I decided to move to another smaller bank to get better service and prices.

Been a loyal customer here for 8 years, since I moved to Denmark. When the time came to buy a house, they made a HUGE deal of me not being a Danish citizen (even though I'm from an EU country), and were very reluctant giving me a bank loan. They finally gave me an offer, with lots of overhead costs attached.
Went to 3 other banks, they had no issues with me being a non-Dane, and quoted me very favorable terms for my bank loan. I asked Arbejdernes Landsbank if they would waive some of the fees, and they said no, "because we know we're providing the best service and have the best price!".
Now I switched banks for my loan, and got a lifetime free bank account at my new bank. The service here was otherwise OK, but had a very unpleasant experience with the loan process. Felt very much discriminated against here, not at any of the other banks.
