Avoid them like the plague. I arranged car hire through Alamo at London Heathrow. It was done through booking.com. I paid £65.71. When I got to Alamo, there was an enormous queue and a wait of over an hour despite arranging a specific pick up time. When I finally got served, I was told that I could not hire the car as I did not have a credit card. I had an appointment that I missed. Neither Alamo or booking.com will refund me. This is nothing short of theft. This is possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced.
ZERO STARS for Alamo Mykonos Airport
ZERO STARS for Alamo Mykonos airport car hire, do not recommend. Firstly - nobody came from Alamo to collect us to take us to their offsite airport location, said they didn’t have our details!! Luckily some very nice person from another car hire company dropped us off.
Secondly - the lady on reception and the man that took us to our car tried to pressure us into taking an additional €240 for extra insurance, to which we said NO to.
Thirdly - we got home checked our credit card and they have taken €290 of which we hadn’t authorised or agreed to and actually have no idea what this cost is for. Car was in same condition when we dropped it back, as when we collected it with no issues.
Fourthly - getting hold of the company to get a refund is proving to be difficult.

20km onto our drive the engine warning lights came on and the vehicle went in to limp-mode on a very busy motorway heading out of Marseille airport.
We had to arrange our own breakdown as Alamo refused to do it. It took two hours to turn up after many phone calls back and forth with Alamo.
The breakdown service wouldn't take the vehicle as it was "drivable" in limp-mode. This is the agreement they have with Alamo.
So back onto a very busy 130kmp motorway at 18kmp which is all the vehicle would do.
Managed to get off at the next junction without getting killed. More phone calls to Alamo to get a replacement vehicle, with always a promise they would ring back but they never did. Limped 35km to the hotel trying to use back roads to avoid accidents. Eventually at the hotel another phone call and again a promise of a return call from management. Guess what? The office closed and no call was recieved.
This is the worst company of any kind I've ever dealt with EVER.
LET'S SEE WHAT TOMORROW BRINGS!

UPDATE - No return phone call in the morning and when I rang them again "surprise" they have no record of my phone calls.
I took matters into my own hands and drove (in limp-mode) to the nearest Alamo office. I was then told that there are no cars available and would have to drive back to where I picked it up from. This would have been impossible due to the engine being stuck in limp-mode. After having a very forceful conversation with the staff we were driven to what amounted to a back street garage with empty beer bottles, litter and an old mattress strewn all over the lot.
We were given a much lower spec vehicle which was badly damaged on every panel and bumper, filthy on the inside and out and not fully fuelled up.
No help was proffered to us to try and resolve what was Alamo's issue with a faulty, dangerous vehicle.
No effort was made by Alamo staff to get us a vehicle which worked.

Kaunas Alamo rent avoid!!!!! Scamers!!!! Long story short, I rented a car , paid , came to LT had to pay 120e more for 3rd insurance 😅 I didn't take a car.... f...g clouns !!!!!!!
I felt like I was being scammed.
Booked a mid range SUV (Nissan Qashqai) or similar to pick up at Belfast International Airport. Had to pay £25 extra to drive it to Donegal. Yes, they do tell you... in the small print, when you look for it. Basically dishonest not to highlight this for a fair price comparison. Got given a much smaller SUV (Renault Captur) and was asked to pay extra to get the one I ordered. What a scam!! The car was handed over with about 100 miles less fuel in the tank, which is impossible to refill to that level. So you end up giving them fuel for free. Return staff were unhelpful, just chatting and I had to go and ask them what to do. Not what you want, when you are in a hurry. All round disappointment and unlikely to rent again from them.
Fast and Smoth processes
A smooth experience renting a car in Edinburgh with Alamo. I had the reservation before hand and the transint by the desk was a matter of 5 min. Everything was perfectly explained by the assistant (Rebekah).
No problems with the car, everything was in perfect conditions with a clean and new car.
Finally the returning process was also incredible fast and easy, over the fly the assistant reviewed the car and I got the deposit refund really fast.
On the contrary I travelled in a group and the other part did a reservation with Sixt and during the pick up process they were for more than 20 minutes dealing with the assistant that was trying to sell a lot of extras, car upgrade and a lot of stuff trying to increase the price of the reservation.
In comparison the experience with Alamo was really nice and smooth, for sure I will repeat in the future.
Terrible customer services, refusing car as suddenly age minimum is now 30
Terrible customer service, booked online well in advance of nearly 3 weeks. Arrive at the desk to pick up my car only to be told that that the category I've booked they cannot provide the car as I dont meet their age requirement of 30 years old however at the time of booking and the emails sent the age requirement is minimum 25 and not 30 years. Paid £400 for the booking of a Mercedes e class only to be offered a Mazda and a ford Kuga as replacements for £400. Don't trust them or use them. They already have 68% 1 str reviews wish I see these before booking.

Arrived at the Airport in Tallinn Estonia. I had an email confirmation from Alamo regarding the terms and pricing and they would not honour it. They said it was not in their system. I showed them the confirmation number and email but they wanted to charge a higher price. Horrible customer service.

Carjet Car Rental - Disappointing Experience**
I have left this review in relation to Alamo car rental affiliation with Carjet.com. Is Almo aware of refunds not being issued and the total lack of customer support available on Carjet..
I recently booked a car rental through Carjet for 6 days at a cost of £141.58. The vehicle was to be supplied by Alamo Car Rental. After completing the booking, I received a confirmation email that stated a credit card was required for the rental. Unfortunately, I do not have a credit card, so I had to cancel the booking.
The cancellation took place less than 2 hours after making the booking, yet I was informed via email that no refund would be issued. To make matters worse, there is no email address or phone number available to contact Carjet for support.
This experience has been shocking and extremely disappointing. I can't believe the lack of customer service and support provided by Carjet. I would strongly advise others to be cautious when booking through this company.

The unacceptable customer service my party and I experienced at the Waterloo branch of Alamo Car Rental on 18th August 2025. The treatment we received, particularly from the manager, was appalling and has left us deeply dissatisfied with your service.
Firstly, the entire car rental process was one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever encountered. The staff, especially the manager, were extremely rude and made no attempt to apologize for their numerous mistakes. Initially, the address provided to us for the car rental was incorrect. Alamo failed to update the booking address with any third-party vendors, leading us to the wrong location. Despite this being an error on Alamo's part, the staff blamed us for not verifying the address, even though we followed the instructions provided by the third-party vendor.
When we eventually arrived at the correct address, we discovered that my booking had been given to another customer. This meant that the car I had paid for was no longer available, and it was the only car left for the day. Consequently, we had to wait for another two hours until the other customer returned the car, causing us to miss our scheduled commitments. Throughout this ordeal, no apology or support was offered to us.
Additionally, I have deep concerns about the security and management of customer information at this branch. My booking details were swapped with another customer's, raising serious questions about how securely our personal information is handled. This is a significant breach of trust and data security.
While we were waiting in the office, we were given no updates or communication regarding the status of our rental, which only added to our frustration. The manager, instead of addressing our concerns, was seen verbally abusing a staff member, calling him an idiot and berating him for mistakenly double-booking the car or assigning our booking to someone else. This unprofessional behavior was conducted in front of customers, further adding to our distress. At no point did the manager greet us or offer any form of apology for the inconvenience we were experiencing.
The entire experience was a clear demonstration of terrible customer service and a complete lack of professionalism. Given the rudeness of the staff and the chaotic way the branch operates, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Alamo to anyone.
I hope you take this complaint seriously and address the issues within your Waterloo branch. Such poor service reflects badly on your company and undermines customer trust and satisfaction. Additionally, I urge you to review your data security protocols to ensure that customer information is protected and not mishandled in the future.
Excellent service person
Service representative Geee was excellent--friendly and efficient. Much better than the rep who checked out the car.
Friendly, efficient and good value for money
Palma airport collection of a Jeep SUV. Pick up was easy, staff were helpful, spoke great English, polite and allowed us to take time checking and photographing car for any damage. They encouraged it and showed us how it would be checked on return by them. Car was easy to drive, clean at pick up and very economical (we had for 10days in Mallorca and used everyday staying in Pollenca. We barely used 3/4 of a tank and did the airport runs in this too).
Drop off was even easier than collection. Special mention to Oriol who again was very welcoming, talked us through the return checks and then explained the paperwork to hand car over. Very quick and efficient…and friendly! Was nice to have all staff smiling and happy to help as often think customer service is dead!
Will 100% book with Alamo again for Mallorca car hire. Good value for money, friendly and supportive staff and easy collection and drop off.
Cancelled car hire with no warning
First time booking through Alamo and we certainly won’t be again. Booked a car for Belfast Airport, paid in full however when we got to the airport we informed it had been cancelled and they didn’t have a car for us. This left our and our 1 year old baby stranded in the airport. Alamo were useless and only said how there was nothing they can do. Impossible to get through to them to get any other information.

I had a terrible experience with Alamo at Vancouver Airport. Despite booking and paying in advance, I waited over 3 hours for a car due to their car wash being down. The manager was rude and unhelpful, offering no solutions. The car I received was old and faulty, with no working phone charger, making navigation impossible. After wasting a day trying to swap the car at another location, I was stuck with the same vehicle for the entire week. Upon return, I was unfairly charged $800 for minor damage that wasn’t properly inspected when I picked up the car. Overall, the service was appalling, and the staff, particularly the manager, were unprofessional and dismissive. I will never use Alamo again.
Charged for mechanical failure that wasn't my fault
Rented us a vehicle with faulty clutch. Clutch failed within 7 miles. Had to be towed back to airport. Was told by agent that the clutch was covered under warranty. When we got towed back was met with surly agent who said we "broke" the clutch. They charged us £2000 initially and then another £170 for administrative fees and if we don't pay, we'll be blacklisted and unable to rent a vehicle from them or affiliates. DON'T USE THEM!!!

Booked car specifying an automatic via consolidator/compariosn site VIP Cars, to collect in Girona, with Alamo. Impossible to find a figure for extra driver or for full cost of all the insurance upselling. When arrived to collect, was told that there was no auto available so was obliged to hire a more expensive electric and of course all the extras were very costly. Not happy.
Brilliant USa Road Trip - Valerie at San Fran was brilliant
Was very impressed with the alamo service that helped our family have an amazing usa road trip.
Valerie in the San francisco airport branch was very knowledgeable and provided great advice and help with an upgrade to SUV and simple return without petrol top up.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee provided great comfort during long drives as well as being brilliant on the tight Lake Tahoe and Yosemite roads.
Drop off at Alamo LAX was very efficient as well.
Cheers Alamo and Jeep for memorable road trip holiday.

I returned the rental car in France and all was fine they said the deposit will be returned today. It’s now been 3 weeks and they say they have returned the deposit and they definitely haven’t I HAVENT GOT THE TIME TO BE CHASING FOR MY MONEY BACK AND I SHOULDNT HAVE TO. I will report to bank and trading standards!!!! Terrible.
