I had been gullible
I had been gullible, assuming that the radical reviews were exaggerated. Boy was I wrong.. to start point by point:
1)Car was booked for 9AM, it was delivery around 10:30 (due to "issues").
2) Got into the car and the steering wheel and inner driver's side door was soaked in caramel coffee remains, sticky with quite the odour. Admittedly after I raised this with Alamo - they "helped" with the cleaning.
3) Got a premium car that had issues with Carplay/Android - tried to reset the interface, and the usual steps. No dice.
4) Steering was constantly veering to the left, presumably the wheels or the suspension was uneven.
5) Finally, the smack to the cheek was that they argued that the tires had been cut and requested 405£ for 1 tire replacement. The tires had been already cut when I received the vehicle and luckily I had made a very detailed video of the whole car. Will pursue this legally.
Updates will follow to this review.
Avoid Alamo as a Car Hire Company
Avoid Alamo as a Car Hire Company. I hired a car at Glasgow airport for 3 days. They tried a hard-sell me extra insurance, breaching various FCA regulations in the process e.g. not providing detail of the product or whether I already had cover elsewhere. As I signed the vehicle acceptance I was informed that "The tyres are all OK". First time in 27 years of hiring cars at Glasgow Airport that tyres were mentioned specifically on collection. On return they managed to find a 4mm defect on a tyre and are charging me £140 for the repair (£78 of this is Admin Costs). When I went to take a photo of the "damage" I had problems finding it as it was so small I stated that I considered it wear and tear and I'd like to challenge the damage report - they ignored this and went ahead with the repair and charged me for it. The repair bill details that they provided show a repair carried out more that 2 weeks later. I think that they continued to hire that car to others as the tyre was fine - or did they really consider it damage and didnt use one of their vehicles for 2 weeks? As other say avoid Alamo and Enterprise. My credit card company is being supportive and fighting my case for me. There were other aspects of this experience that were far from ideal. There terms and conditions documentation runs to 11 pages and you are asked to sign a tablet saying that you accept them without being given access to them. I had to sign/initial a tablet, in a carpark three times with only the final page, with signature panel, visible. I'll stop now ... just avoid Alamo.
Rented a car from Gatwick airport
Rented a car from Gatwick airport to use to bring the family to legoland! Quick and easy rental Ben served us and was very helpful! We had a issue with the car I phoned them and had to drive a hour to go back with the car but they waved the petrol as a Courtesy gave us a new car to use quick and easy change over returned easy! Definitely will use again even tho we had an issue with the car it was a manufacturer issue not their fault but I had 3 kids with us and wasn’t risking it to happen again!
Alamo are a Disgrace
Absolute disgrace of a company. Rented a car from London Stansted Airport, Car was returned and checked and i was told everything was good. Hour later I was telephoned to say they had discovered a tyre issue and my card was charged £250.00. This was the 2nd issue I’ve had with them. I will never use Alamo or Enterprise again. STEER CLEAR!
Thieves
Absolute disgrace of a company. Leave a car, noone checks and then they email you that they are charging you £100 deductible for a windshield, when there was nothing when I left it. Fyi, Alamo is owned by Enterprise. So both car rentals are off my list of places to rent cars. Never again, and I will make sure that everyone I know won't use you either.
Efficient pick up at LHR with Dan
Efficient pick up at LHR with Dan. A minor technical issue with the first car we were allocated meant an upgraded replacement at no charge to us. Drop-off was equally hassle free, quick and efficient. The best part was the price! This was our second time renting from Alamo / Enterprise at Heathrow through Costco. The shuttle drivers deserve a mention too, courteous and helpful with bags. We would happily recommend Alamo at LHR!
Worst company ever
Worst company ever. The entire company tried to impose fees on me for an old scratch on the wheel. How do I know that it is an old scratch? Because I recorded the entire car before accepting the car. Furthermore, the staff attitude is TOTALLY horrendous. Totally dismissive and nonchalant attitude by the staff. They wasted more than 1 hour of my precious time in the UK. Heads up, this Alamo division is in London, Russel Street. If you know what’s good for you, do NOT even facilitate this company.
Great 24 hour rental…
Rented a car for 24 hours through booking.com for pick up at Heathrow. It was a really slick service and the staff were friendly (shoutout to Paddy and Demi at pickup and Kam at returns). The electric car we had hired hadn’t been returned so we were given a petrol version of the same model. All very smooth and efficient. Great price too , so very pleased.
A big thank you Alamo car hire Heathrow…
A big thank you Alamo car hire Heathrow the whole experience was perfect from the fast check in with Darla who was very helpful and professional we were out on the road within 15 minutes . And the return of the vehicle was equally perfect with Demmi we were on the free shuttle bus within 10 minutes, all in all a great hire from Alamo car hire Heathrow would definitely recommend
Alamo are a disgrace
I hired a car with Alamo at Heathrow. There was no pre rental inspection report on these older cars. There were many scratches on the panels and I noticed people inspecting them carefully. I decided to take a video of the car externally before leaving the compound on 28/8/2023. Returning on 2/9/2023 there was a check done on a bumper scuff. happily it showed up on the video and the return agent accepted and emailed no charge on 2/9/2023.
Surprised to receive a claim for £421.10 on 2/11/2023..2 months later. they were going to pursue the claim unless I forwarded the video. Lucky I still had it!! despite the email for no charge!
These are a bunch of charlatans, make no mistake

Alamo have erroneously charged me for…
Alamo have erroneously charged me for 20 days car rental instead of 7 days. They are refusing to reimburse. Please be careful and do not use this company. Ever. I’ve had to get my bank involved in speaking to them:
I have rented from Alamo Katowice…
I have rented from Alamo Katowice Airport many times and they were always great. Had a great experience, easy to pick up and easy to drop off. Have never had a problem, very reliable service, friendly and supportive staff. No extra charges.
Wish I had read the reviews here before…

My train was cancelled meaning I couldn't collect my car at scheduled time. I phoned Alamo 4 hours ahead of my scheduled collection time to modify my car pickup time. I was assured on the phone that a file note would be made and the message would be passed on to the depot.
When I arrived at depot I was rudely told I was late, my car was gone, and I would have to pay €330 upgrade to an SUV. My whole holiday was at jeopardy so I was forced to upgrade at an extra cost.
I've since put a formal complaint to the company but had no success and simply told it was my fault for being late.
THIS COMPANY ARE DISHONEST, DISORGANISED AND A DISASTER.
Dont make the same mistake as me! Don't risk your holiday with these clowns.
If I could give zero stars I would
If I could give zero stars I would. Terrible service; booked and paid for a 9 seater vehicle only to find at collection that it’s a 5 seater vehicle. Found a 7 seater at another branch which we had no choice but to take as we were waiting to go away. Still waiting for a refund of the difference. No response from the formal complaint made and the Long Eaton branch are not returning our calls with an update. Very stressful all round!
Highly dangerous car and shocking management service
Highly dangerous car and should never have been allowed out. The steering would randomly veer to the right. Was so worried about being in a crash, that had to drive at the safest slowest speed on the far left lane of the motorway - fearing for my safely.
I have followed up many times including writing to 6 managers - completely ignored
I would never ever use this shocking company again
USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR PERIL.
Picked up car in Vancouver and paid extra for a Sat Nav which was not charged. When this was pointed out we were told to “charge it” which was the old “Tom Tom” Sat Nav. This never worked at all during our holiday.
We dropped the car off at Banff and were charged a “drop off” fee of 300 Canadian Dollars. We were informed that the car had to be returned to Vancouver and that this charge covered the transportation back from Banff.
However during a conversation when we dropped the car off my husband asked the gentleman if they waited until they had a few cars before returning them to Vancouver. At this point the gentleman informed us that the car would not be returned to Vancover but would be hired out from Banff.
We have asked Alamo for a refund of the “One Way Drop Off Fee” which they have refused. Obviously most customers are not aware of this.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS
Quick and easy plus great customer service at Split Airport
Hi Enterprise/Alamo at Split Airport, Croatia.
A note to thank you for your car hire service to me.
Pick up and drop off were both quick and easy. Maybe too quick!
When I discovered, after checking through the airport security, that I had left my phone in the car, your customer service was excellent and I am so grateful for the calm, efficient and helpful way you all worked to get it back to me before my flight left.
Thank you very much for a great hire experience at Split Airport, Croatia.
Do not use this Company
Do not use this Company, Alamo are just an untrustworthy company! Had a final invoice of 0.00 then an amount of $134.58 was taken from my account once all was settled. When I rang they said they couldn’t explain. Then they said I used a voucher so I had to pay the difference when I clearly used a credit card and payed in full. Just an untrustworthy company. Do Not Use!
