**Review of Alaska Airlines Bank of…

**Review of Alaska Airlines Bank of America Card**

I made the unfortunate mistake of thinking that Alaska Airlines and Bank of America had the competence to issue a simple credit card. What a disaster! They never sent me the card, yet they had the audacity to bill me an annual fee. To make matters worse, they reported a delinquent payment to the credit bureaus, ruining my perfect credit history.

I had to pay $98 just to cancel a card that I never even received or activated—an account that didn’t even have a number assigned to me! It's unbelievable that they could damage my credit so severely without ever providing a service or even acknowledging their incompetence.

Alaska Airlines Credit Card feels like a scam, and Bank of America, who issues the Alaska credit card is a discrace and shouldn’t be trusted with any legitimate business dealings. They excel at fraudulent behavior. I denounce both companies for their lack of accountability and for charging me for services that were never rendered. I am actively seeking to expose this cheating scam they both persist in. Avoid at all costs!

Cannot book online, or on the phone

I've now spent over 115 minutes trying to book a flight online. In addition to trying over, and over, and over again without success (error message received), I was on hold trying to speak to someone that entire time. This airline truly sucks. I have never flown on them, and at this point it looks like I never will. I hope their airplanes and pilots are better than their IT department.

A calm and relaxing flight

Even though Alaska isn't what it used to be, no airline is, they still outshine all the rest via customer care and clean planes. I also felt very confident in our funny pilot.

Seat selection does not disclose non-reclining seats

We paid a higher fare (upgrading from Saver to Main rate category) on a recent round trip from DC to Honolulu to ensure that three of us traveling together would get seats next to each other. We selected a row (row 15) in front of the exit row, not knowing that those seats do not recline. Nothing on the website states that those are non-reclining seats. It was a long and very physically uncomfortable overnight flight on the return without reclining seats and a very tight space in that row. Alaska Airlines would not reimburse us the extra cost we paid for the ability to select our seats even though they did not disclose that the row we selected has seats that do not recline. This should be disclosed.

Long time customer

Long time customer. Regularly maintain 100k frequent flier miles. Alaska Airlines customer service was declining pre-Covid, and then fell through the floor post-Covid. Just like the rest of the airline industry AK flights are regularly delayed, the airline has lost my luggage on multiple occasions this year already, and even when a flight is on time or arrives early, the flight regularly has to sit on the tarmac WITHOUT lavatory access because all gates are being used by other delayed Alaska flights. Alaska pretty has adopted the airline business model of seeing how crap the air flying public can tolerate and still buy tickets.

Avoid this airline

We experienced 2 delays with the total just under 3 hours. We weren’t notified a single time. Denied lounge access as they had changed their policy after we had already booked our first class tickets with the intention of using the lounge. No meal vouchers offered during prolonged delay. Once on board our seats were dirty and not sanitised according to covid standards. Seats were covered in crumbs from past passenger, menus were torn and covered in food. Staff could not confirm if our special order meals were dairy free even though we had specially selected them for allergy reason. There was no access to entertainment and this could not be troubleshot. Our bags were not placed as priority so we were even later for the commitment we were attending. Customer service were very unhelpful and unsympathetic. They offered us a future discount code but we are not from America so it is of no use to us. We would not use this. I offered to be reimbursed with partnership flight miles to which they declined. Do your future self a favour and avoid this airline at all costs.

Alaska loyalist finally giving up and leaving

I've been flying with Alaska almost exclusively for 10 years. I was a loyalist, would pay extra just to fly Alaska, paid for the lounge membership, have multiple top tier Alaska credit cards, used the Alaska Business card, the whole thing. And we are finally leaving Alaska for good. I have booked multiple international flights using their milage rewards program (the literal whole point of having an airline credit card) and year after year they mess it up. They have yet to get us somewhere without a mess. I thought that since most things worked most of the time that it was fine, but the truth is "most things work most of the time" because the only time it goes sideways is when you actually use the point system or try to work with Alaska representatives - which is exactly when you need them. They will cancel, book you wrongly, leave you stranded in different airports (I once had to drive 7 hours to get to another airport just to get home), and refuse to help. I've heard "there's nothing I can do" so many times when it was 100% at no fault to my own actions. It's one thing to not be able to help if I mess something up, but how outrageous they won't even fix their own mistakes. Sad I poured so many years into an account that doesn't care about customers. Even if another airline has terrible customer service like Alaska, maybe they won't mess up as much and make me suffer for it.

Took our luggage and refused us boarding to the plane?! Awful.

Absolutely speechless about our experiences with Alaska airlines.

Alaska refused us entry onto the plane, after a back office issue between them and Qantas. After taking our bags, they continues to refuse us access to an under booked plan. We even offered to rebook tickets to resolve the issue, but continued to explain the couldn’t.

After accepting defeat, we asked for our bags to be returned. They flatly refused. I then explained, all our physical money, medication and clothes were in our cases. They still refused.

They just said we needed to book with another airline and they couldn’t help? We’ve had to ask our friends in Vegas to randomly pick up our bags that will be arriving in Vegas without us.

Staff were unbelievable rude and we overheard a staff member on the phone say “they couldn’t be bothered to do the transfer”, of which they of course denied later.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Would be stranded in LAX if it wasn’t for the amazing staff at delta airlines. The delta staff were in disbelief at Alaskas behaviour.

Strongly recommend you do not fly with Alaska. Horrible experience.

3 hr flight delay, changed planes, rude flight attendant

I booked a flight LAX through American but fights were with Alaska. I went to Alaska site to pick seats and pay for exit rows which it would NOT ALLOW me to do. I called Alaska and they said it was an issue with American even though it was Alaska flight and website. American said it was an issue with Alaska. Alaska finally said there wasn’t anything that they could do since I booked through American.

Each gate at Alaska terminal has about a dozen seats so lots of people standing and sitting on the floor.

On the return, I upgraded to first class. We boarded the flight and found out that it had mechanical isssues after 30 minutes. We had to deboard and they sent us to a different terminal. Everyone was running bc they didn’t say how much time we had. Turns out a lot. the other flight didn’t depart for more than an hour. The flight was over three hours late. They emailed us a $12 meals coupon to use at select restaurants I’m guessing in LAX. That doesn’t work when your flight arrives after mid night.

The flight attendant was rude on several occasions to me even being in first class and not having interacted with her at all before. I asked what the meal choices were she said I had to download the Alaska app (you don’t). Then later came back and was curt and rude in speaking with me for no reason. I understand they have difficult jobs but I literally had done it nothing to her.

Despicable airline

Despicable airline. Awful customer service. They cut me off 3 times when I was dealing with a family emergency. Rude, arrogant staff. I would never use them again. Do not fly with Alaska!!

Alaska airlines is terrible with customers

All I need from this business is a receipt for luggage. I went to the counter since the check-in bag computer did not give me an option to get a receipt, and the staff informed me I could get it online. I went online and nothing. I called and after being on hold and finally speaking to someone, they indicated the receipt had to be downloaded within 48 hrs., Then I called again and the person informed me they would send it to me and still nothing!

Alaska Airlines is HORRIBLE!!! EXTORTIONISTS!!!

First, I have to say, I'm not surprised at all that Alaska here has only 2 stars. I have my own egregious experience to add: I flew from LA to Ixtapa, Mexico via Alaska here, back in 2006, but the experience was so incredibly horrible, I still have to post this today to protect you, the public. It was actually the return leg, from Ixtapa back to LA, where the worst of this overall situation occurred. We were coming back home from a wonderful family trip to Club Med there. Upon arriving at the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo International Airport, 2 hours before flight time, we felt more than confident we'd get on our flight, no problem...even though we had to get in a mile-long line. It took about an hour to get to the front of the line, so we were still OK, timing wise. I presented our 5 suitcases & they weighed them one by one & placed them behind their counter. Then Rafael told me that one our 5 bags was slightly overweight & he needed to charge me extra for it. I told him to hand that bag back to me, along with any one of the other 4 & I'd rearrange them. He said he could do this, but he'd have to then ask me to go back into the rear of the queue...which was now longer than when we arrived at the airport. I told him if I get back in line, it will take more than 1 hour & we will miss our flight. I also said this is called...extortion! He replied, "So what is your decision?" with a sarcastic smirk on his face and w/o skipping a beat. I told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor, so he brought a Ms. Christina Sotelo Villegas to the desk. I told her the situation, & she only reiterated what Rafael said. She wouldn't budge either. I reluctantly paid their extortion fee and told them I would be complaining about this to their headquarters. Since this time, I have brought this up with Alaska several times & all they offer me is a discount on my next flight with them. I told them as long as I live, I will never fly Alaska over this & I urge you not to either. If they resort to unethical, immoral & mafia-like measures with me, and still don't offer a sound apology, solution or remedy, I can't recommend them at all.

Great customer service on chat from Randi

I live in Ireland and have just finished a chat with Randi from Alaskan Airlines and he was so helpful and booked the seats for me that I wanted. He couldn't have been more helpful. So thanks again Randi for helping me out and for seeming to be very friendly. Your kindness meant a lot to me.

FARE SHAMING by EVERY REP

I used to fly Alaska Air quite frequently when we lived in the PNW. I hastily booked a flight to visit a friend that was having major surgery and selected the “saver fare” for almost $600. After booking I realized that I departed from DFW (where my car would be parked) and arrived at DAL. I called the 800# and explained my dilemma where I was met with a very curt and judgmental “there’s nothing I can do because you booked the “saver fare”. Fine, at this point I accepted this response. Then I arrived at my gate in SEA and asked the rep if I could pls be assigned a seat. She pulled up my reservation and to her disdain, reminded me that I booked the “saver fare” and I would have to come back in 30 minutes to be assigned a seat. Mind you that’s when boarding was to begin and no other passengers were at the counter. I also was not asking for a “special” seat just ANY seat!! So I sat directly in front of her and waited awkwardly while she pretended to work. While I was on my trip, my son & husband got sick - so instead of sitting at the airport for 3 hours to eventually fly to the wrong airport, I went to the Alaskan Customers Service desk where a rep was trying to help me catch an earlier flight to the correct airport. When low and behold the rep sitting next to her decided to hover over and interfere. She started shaking her head “no” and rolling her eyes - then interrupted and said “because you booked the “saver fare” there’s nothing we can do to help you”. I was even willing to pay the difference. But that’s not an option. I happened to walk by the gate of the earlier flight, they were at the end of boarding and still had plenty of main cabin seats available. I pleaded with the rep if she would pls be willing to help and allow me to fly stand by on this flight (where there were still plenty of seats). I bet you can guess her response - yep! “SAVER FARE” and a look of “go away peasant”. As tears began to form in my eyes, I walked away and swore to NEVER fly Alaskan again. Never before have I ever been treated so poorly because of the fare I booked. I wouldn’t even be writing this review if the reps would have been the slightest bit compassionate, understanding or respectful (even if it was still a “no”)…kindness goes a long way. You’d think that with doors flying off during flights they would be slightly more customer focused. Nope - not Alaskan, not ever. Oh - now my flights been delayed twice with no explanation. 🥴

Avoid

Just checking in is a major undertaking. Customer service acts as though you are interrupting their day. Took 3 agents to finally get checked in.

Frivolous fees! Never again!

After paying $70 dollars to check two bags, they charged me $150 for my fishing rod tube, which, on every other airline that I’ve ever flown, I’ve never had to pay for. I take at least two fishing trips a year, flights both ways, never been charged for my rod tube. So for $150 I’m never gonna fly with them again. Hope the $150 was worth it Alaska Air 😂

Please don’t book Alaska Airlines

Please don’t book Alaska Airlines, this is the worst experience than any Airlines!! We booked a flight from DFW to SEA to HNL and it was delayed multiple times!! First, our flight from DFW to SEA for a layover was delayed because of “mechanical issue”. Then, our flight to SEA to HNL was changed and we need to stop again in Oakland (OAK) for “additional fuel due to weather” so we waited again for additional 1hr. All the passengers were hungry and nothing to do but to wait!! They don’t even gave us any complimentary on that delayed flight. Just the usual biscuit and drink! So instead of getting to HNL at 3:48pm we got to Honolulu at 8pm!! Plus, when we got to HNL my checked-in luggage was delayed because they placed it on different flight so we waited from 8pm to 11pm just to get my luggage back!! But that is not the worst!!! The worst part is, they canceled our return flight without ANY notification, no emails, no calls, no alerts! Nada!! When I checked our flight status, I chatted to the customer service of Alaska Airlines and she said they canceled it due to FULL flight!!! So why do they need to sell that flight tickets if it was full in the first place!!! So the solution she gave me was to transfer our return flight to Hawaiian Airlines which was a 10:25pm flight to LAX then transfer again to American Airlines LAX to DFW which messed up our plans going back to DFW!!!! This is our first time to experience this HORRIBLE situations!! I don’t know why Alaska is always ranked as one of the “best airline in the US!!” I expected too much and I was wrong!! I definitely wouldn’t recommend this Airline to anyone else!!!
