Some absolutely fabulous destinations…
Some absolutely fabulous destinations and some not so!
4 nights accommodation in Chianciano Terme was terrible, whilst the hotel itself was lovely including all of the historical art the location doesn't really lend itself to any 'My Time' as it's too far from anywhere!
Everything else was spot on.
1. As an older person I found that getting in and out of bath tubs in several of the hotels hard to deal with. 2. Full marks for breakfasts but dinners could have been more authentic French meals.
My trip with Albatross Le Grand France
An Alpine Adventure
On the whole, it was an enjoyable experience. Our tour leader Ernst was knowledgeable and helpful. The scenery was spectacular and I had some wonderful experiences on the tour. Included meals were mostly very good. The Lake Brienze tour was a bit disappointing; boat was packed. Chur was a waste of time and Klosters doesn't offer much; St Moritz would be a better option. It's a pity the tour doesn't spend any time in Milan.

The tour Manager & bus driver were fantastic! The longer stays are essential to discover the destination. Some Hôtel stays weren’t to our liking & then some were . I would have loved to have had longer to experience the Camargue area where the salt flats & the flamingo’s live as we only drove past ! We visited two towns in this area only briefly.
Time to breath and choices to make
This was a Sicilian and Maltese tour.
The food was delicious and sometimes too plentiful.
We had on most days time to rest or explore further.
Well organised and perhaps sometimes a little over-regulated.
Great people. I guess we were lucky there.
Accommodation in general excellent.
I thought this tour was excellent value for money

Helen Sheehan our guide was fantastic. Heaps of knowledge, efficient, extremely organized, everything a tour group requires. She was excellent in attending to a person's special needs making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoyed themselves.
For Concetto (Jack) & myself Colleen, this is the 4th Albatross Tour we have done & we finished the tour realizing 2 things: Never travel to Europe in June, July & August (too hot) & we won't do a big city tour again i.e. Florence & Venice. Too busy & too hot. Deep South, Ireland and Spain & Portugal were all much more enjoyable for us.
The only negative with The Italian Grande trip was the arranged tour in Florence. We felt as did others that the guide concentrated solely on the history of Michael Angelo & Leonardi di Vinci & those that have not been to Florence before didn't get a chance to see anything else i.e. Ponte de Vecchio Bridge which in itself is an icon of Florence.
This was our first trip overseas…
This was our first trip overseas further than Australia. Helen, our tour guide was always clear with when and where we needed to be. She was helpful and kind to anyone needing help on a personal level.
The tour had so much to do and see, Helen provided us with a wealth of knowledge. We enjoyed being able to be in one place for up to 5 days.
The coach was spacious and extremely comfortable, Fabio was an amazing driver, so skilled and professional.

Sicily Malta and the aolian islands 2025
The tour was well constructed and the content was great the hotels were excellent there were a lot of days of for self guided exploration,
The companions were pleasant and always on time,
Catholic pilgrimage for non catholic.
A downer for me was having up to 2 1/2 hours at lunchtime in a place where everything closes at 2 and there is nothing to do but eat . If I didn’t want food there was nothing to do but wander empty places. Better to be with free time when places of interest are open. I’d have enjoyed less musty old churches and more culture and outdoors. But the villages and architecture were marvellous and well chosen.
Too many churches with up to 4 in some places on the one day. 4 on the whole trip would do me. It felt like I was on a religious pilgrimage with so much religious iconography.
Most local guides gave lots of facts of dates, architects name, catholic saints etc but not enough story telling and none of the facts get remembered. It’s the stories and points of interest which are remembered. ( I’m a tour guide at home and run workshops to fellow guides on engaging with your tour group and story telling to enhance the visitor experience).
Gilberto was a very considerate guide and knew his stuff. Great guy and good personality. He took good care of us.

Trip to Italy
All aspects of travelling in Italy were very well planned and extremely well organised. The tour manager was outstanding - he was so well organised; very patient and helpful for everyone in the group; lots of fun and really made the trip well worth the time and money. All accommodation was very well situated.
Aspects of the trip that need reviewing - some of the accommodation was not comfortable - rooms too small to have two suitcases open; plumbing not up to standard for 4 star. As advertised we 'My Time' was a selling feature of the trip but often it was only a couple of hours - so no time to explore; in a small town were everything was closed for the afternoon or late afternoon. some long mornings with tours in the afternoon would be appreciated.
My recent albatross tours trip to Italy…
My recent albatross tours trip to Italy was everything I expected and more. The TD was fantastic, was a font of knowledge and understood our Aussie humour. The accommodation was great (including a castle), the provided meals reflected the local cuisine, and wine flowed freely. The whole bus (28) got a long well together and also had free time to enjoy individually. We visited tourist spots as well as lesser known small villages to get the real taste of Italy. A great trip!
Northern Italy Tour…
The content of the tour and the guide were very good. Whilst some of the hotels were great for example Stresa some locations and hotels were not good Eg Genoa.
I have completed a lengthy survey already on this so you should have my feedback.
The wonderful back roads
The trip was very well planned and the guide, Gilberto, was extremely organised and so very helpful with anyone who was having problems or feeling unwell.
There were a couple of meals that were disappointing but on the whole the hotels and restaurants we visited were very pleasant. It was good to have time to ourselves on a regular basis. It helped that the weather was perfect for the whole trip.
Do yourself a favour and enjoy Italy “Off the Beaten Track”
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour in Italy “Off the Beaten Track”.
Albatross Tours were professional and the best things they got right:
* Keeping the maximum number on the tour to 28.
* Selecting an excellent Tour Manager
* Selecting a great tour bus company with an excellent bus driver.
Well paced itinerary
Well paced itinerary. Terrific tour leader and drivers. Not sure about a couple of stops eg Davos
