My experience with Alison Law…
My experience with Alison Law Solicitors has been nothing short of disappointing. I engaged their services to apply for a Family Visa for my father, hoping for professional assistance and a smooth process. However, what ensued was a series of mishaps and inadequate service that left me deeply dissatisfied.
From the outset, there were promises of a strong case and reassurances of a positive outcome. I committed financially, paying substantial fees for both solicitor services and government application fees. Yet, when it came to the crucial stages of the application and subsequent appeal, communication was sorely lacking.
Attempts to obtain updates and engage with the firm were met with minimal responses, leaving me in the dark about the progress of my case. Shockingly, I only learned about a missed court date months after the fact, highlighting a significant oversight on their part.
The impact of their negligence has been profound, leading to financial strain and a toll on my mental well-being. Despite raising complaints, the resolution remains elusive, further adding to my frustration.
Overall, my experience with Alison Law Solicitors has been profoundly unsatisfactory. I would caution anyone considering their services to proceed with caution, as their inability to deliver on promises and provide adequate support has been deeply disappointing.
I have just added this updated following the response. The appeal was refused because I did not attend the court date in June 2023. I did not attend the court date because Alison Law failed to let me know that there is a court date despite emailing and asking for updates every two weeks. I was told about the missed court date in November 2023 by Alison Law's Head of Legal. I have sent and paid everything that is required only to be faced by long periods of silence. Even when you follow the internal complaints process, there is no response or serious follow up.
I have all the documents and emails to validated all the details here. I have now taken the issue to the The Solicitors Regulation Authority and to the Legal Ombudsman.

Dear Sammy, The appeal has been refused. It's a difficult time for you. We have offered out of goodwill the refund of the Barrister fees. The initial case was complex in itself and we had to make good out of a bad situation you put yourself in. We are still willing to take it further.

They answered my initial enquiries but after I paid they did not answer a single email / message / or phone call. They use a standard form to collect information to process the spouse visa that did not fit our circumstances but never answered queries about what information we could provide instead. They gave incorrect advice on the financial route that we should take which would have resulted in us having to wait another 6 months to apply. They made an already stressful process more stressful. Ended up doing the application myself. Do not use.

Impossible to reach
My experience with Alison Law solicitors Manchester branch has been absolutely diabolical. I instructed them for ILR application for me and my children in June last year and have had no follow up since the application. I still don't have a response whether my application was successful after 8 months and cannot get hold of my solicitor. They don't answer the phone or respond to my emails and I have no way to track the application as they filled it in using their contact details.

Firm to avoid
Firm to avoid . If you want the sanity of your mental health and finance. stay away from these. After they convinced me to agree of a fix fee, They stop working on my case on less I call and constantly email them. Did my fee waiver full of mistakes. And didn’t even fulling submit it. And remember you will lose your money with them. They have time to reply negative reviews but not emails or reaching out to you. Not professional at all..

I came to use Alison Law after I had issues renewing my UK residency in September of 2023. This had previously always been a formality and I panicked, reaching out to a number of immigration law firms. Alison Law were the first to respond. There was an initial flurry of information and then quite a lot of pressure to transfer £3000 to Alison Law for a '7 day Visa Turnaround Service' which I did. I had all of the documentation in place from the previous application so the fee was for filing the application and forwarding the supporting documents I sent to Alison Law to the Home Office.
On the day of my biometric appointment I was informed that none of my documentation had been uploaded for review by Alison Law. My passport was taken at this point and I was informed that processing could take eight months. This was news to me as previous renewals had never been more than two weeks. Prior to the biometric appointment there was no mention of this possibility by Alison Law.
Immediately following the biometric appointment in September '23, I asked that Alison Law provide a letter detailing my immigration circumstances- I am self employed and my business requires travel to Europe. I cannot afford to shut down my earning potential for eight months with a family to support. I have been requesting this very simple document for five months now with nothing received from Alison Law beyond the occasional promise to provide and advice that it would not be wise for me to travel. It was clear that my actual circumstances were not understood, or of any concern to Alison Law.
The 7 Day Turnaround was a complete waste of my funds- there was no need to pay for this service when it is clear that the hold up is with the Home Office processing times extending up to eight months (I am still waiting). I would like to hope that Alison Law would have been aware of this fact and if they were, why was it not mentioned?
The total lack of follow up service despite repeated requests was a clear indication of where the customer stands with Alison Law.
I am sure, that as with all of the other negative reviews here, Alison Law will somehow try and turn this back on me. Lets see! My advice is to look elsewhere for assistance with UK immigration.

I have noted that you instructed the firm on 04th September 2023 and your application was submitted within 10days of your instructions to the firm. You attended the biometrics appointment and are currently waiting for a decision from the Home Office. We are aware of the Home office having delays in making decision and the length of time it has taken so far is not anything extraordinary. The Home Office aim to make decisions as soon as they can however with matters with exception circumstances these matters can take longer You instructed the firm after the expiry of your visa. Prior to instructing the firm you made an application which was incorrect, and this was rejected. You have informed us you would like a letter to preset to the Airport to enable you to travel in and out of the UK, we have informed you on a number of occasions this letter will not suffice, the Home Office are clear on leaving the UK whilst you have an application pending. The firm providing a letter will not over rule the Home Office stance. We are aware that you are travelling in and out of the UK whilst the application is pending and had provided you advise on this matter. We believe you frustrations should be directed to the Home Office who are yet to make a decision on your application.

Where do I begin? I applied for my family to come and visit us and see my daughter so at first, they promised me the world they were going to do everything my application form they were going to guide me with everything. Once they took my payment that was it, no one communicated they just left me to it. I kept chasing them. I would not recommend this solicitor firm, as I believe they don’t give it their all once they take your money, that’s it for them nothing else matters. I’m not happy with the way I’ve been treated even the after-care. No one seems to be bothered in what you’re saying they all work from home. And you can’t get through to them. Please don’t use this firm and waste your money..

The refusals are as a result of the Home Office decision, we do not have any control over the decision-making process except for the preparation of the application and documents. The Refusals do not comment on the way the applications were submitted however they are more concerned with the intention to return. This is a very common reason when it comes to visit visa refusals. Lost over £1000. They ignored my calls, they ignored my emails too. I ended up cutting my losses and doing it myself. Thankfully I got the outcome I wanted no thanks to Alison law. I was then bullied into taking down my review. I wouldn't ever use this law firm again. Absolute con.
