Great hiking and safari experience
Had a great experience hiking Kilimanjaro with my family! We bonded with 8 other strangers who were in the hiking group and with the amazing tour guides led by Shabani. The safari experience was also great, and we saw all sorts of animals over four days.

We have traveled more than 40 countries , we have never experienced the customer service the level of Altezza . We made it to summit thanks to their thoughtful everything . Unbelievable safari from start to…
Unbelievable safari from start to finish. Altezza is 1000% worth the money. Absolutely EVERYTHING is organised for you, you will not have to lift a finger. So incredibly organised (thank you Sophie!), with luxurious accommodation at every stop. All staff were so wonderful and welcoming. Safari vehicle was new, spacious, with heaps of pockets for your stuff. Cold water and drinks available in the vehicle everyday. Last but definitely not least, we were gifted with the best and most knowledgeable guide, Hussain, for our entire trip.
I literally cannot fault Altezza and will be recommending them to everyone wanting to travel to Tanzania. 11/10.

there to answer all questions in preparation
From planning our Kilimanjaro hike to organizing other facets of our trip - Altezza took care of the small details to make the vacation a worry-free experience. Airport and hotel transfers were all taken care of and a lifeline in case we had questions was always available. We started by taking a few days in Moshi to relax and get rid of jetlag. The Kilimanjaro trek via Machame route was amazing, guides supported us throughout by answering all questions and providing knowledge along the way. They kept the mood light, but also ensured we were very safe throughout the hike. The food was plentiful and delicious. Equipment rentals were also excellent. Altezza also helped coordinate travel and lodging option in Zanzibar and also 2-day Safari in Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater.
Here is what I'm happy we did:
1- Rent the port-a-potty if hiking kilimanjaro
2- arrive a few days early to relax before the trek
3- get to know your climbing group and Altezza crew
4- visit Zanzibar and do a spice farm tour
Here are things we might have done differently
1- Safari...would have asked to stay in the parks if possible...we drove several hours each day and might have only spent 3-4 hours in the parks. We spent more time driving to get TO the parks than we did IN the parks
2- Stay in a better beach area in Zanzibar, we stayed in Jambiani, the Villa was great, but the restaurant was offsite ~ 300 M away. (we either had to walk on the beach or if it was high tide we had to walk in the village to get there)
3- We should have trained more for the hike. I'd recommend using your daypack you bring with 15\20 lbs in it and doing stairs up and down. We had been doing regular hill hikes like this but started incorporating the stairs a month before we left, but probably should have done so earlier and more repetitions. Recommend using the stairs and walking track in an arena for example.

Professional & Hospitable Team
Our first time on a safari. The email and online communication was very good and prompt responses. The driver was very professional and friendly and accomodating to our needs. Made the extra effort to ensure we got to see as many animals we could. The jeep and the quality of the lodges were excellent. We asked for extra activities during the tour and they were offered. Definitely recommend this agency for activities in Tanzania!

Altezza took great care of us from start to finish. From the airports to the hotels to the climb. Everything was seamless & I could tell that they have been doing this for awhile. Very impressed with the way everything was handled. The guides were first class & the porters were amazing. We couldn't have done this climb without them. The guides had our best interest at hearts. And they really cared about getting us to the top safely. The only negative about this trip was the food wasn't all the great. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't dehydrated meal packs like I'm used to on these trips. They kept us well fed but it just wasn't to my liking. Other than that it was a trip of a life time & I owe it to Altezza.

For over ten years, we’ve been fine-tuning our mountain protocols, and your review confirms that we’ve selected the right team to carry them out. I’ve already passed along your kind words to the crew who led you to the summit of Kilimanjaro.
We also appreciate your feedback regarding the food and would like to clarify our approach. To accommodate a guest with a last-minute chicken and egg allergy, we served fish to the entire group on several occasions, following our pescatarian policy. This was in addition to the usual offerings, which include:
For breakfast:
- oat porridge, a selection of scrambled or fried eggs, beef or chicken sausages, fried tomatoes, baked beans, and avocado slices, with fresh fruit and a choice of tea or coffee to finish.
For lunch and dinner:
– a variety of soups, such as vegetable, butternut, leek, and beef, along with dishes like vegetable salads, fried or mashed potatoes, spaghetti, rice, fried chicken in coconut sauce, and minced meat in tomato sauce. We also serve hearty options like beef fillet, chicken stew, and sautéed vegetables such as zucchini with tomato and eggplant with garlic.
This might explain why the meals didn’t quite meet your expectations.
We’re glad to hear you felt well-fed, but we always aim to improve and offer meals that satisfy everyone.
As for dehydrated meal packs, we don’t offer them for a couple of reasons: they’re not readily available for purchase in Tanzania, and we believe freshly prepared, locally sourced meals are a better choice for climbers. Dehydrated meals can sometimes cause digestive issues, which could affect acclimatization, while fresh meals support both comfort and success on the mountain.

Memorable experience thanks to Altezza Travel
From the beginning our dealings with Sophie were excellent. She promptly answered all emails and regularly checked in along the way to make sure we were happy.
Our driver / tour guide, Hussein was beyond all expectations. He was an excellent driver and his knowledge and experience were impeccable.
With his friendly, humorous disposition, he quickly became one of the family. No request was too much trouble and he made our safari one to remember.
