People was extremely nice at the phone but they came 16 hours late to pick up the cord, placenta, etc. (not within six hours after delivery as promised) and we did not had news of them for a month.

Affordable Peace of Mind

My whole experience has been easy and reassuring. My doctor said that the collection kit was one of the best they had seen, easy to collect with, and to return. I appreciate the updated emails every month on my payments and account. It makes life so much easier and reassuring to know that we have our cord blood banked for the future. Wonderful experience!

Wonderful Customer Service

I researched many different cord blood banks prior to deciding on Americord. Speaking to Michael offered a ton of information. He answered questions I wouldn't have even thought to ask. He returned my calls or e-mails within minutes on most occasions-even once at 9pm. Storing the placenta and cord blood could not have been easier. They sent a box and I filled out the papers and handed it over to the hospital staff when I arrived to deliver my baby. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a no hidden fees, responsive, easy to work with cord blood storage bank.

Great Service

I just had my first baby and chose Americord to bank my baby cord blood. Americord provides great customer service from the beginning until my baby cord blood is safely stored. I am satisfied with the service and will continue to choose Americord when I expect my second child.

Communication during pick up of cord blood is poor . Customer service quality does not match with the sensitivity of the subject.

However the communication during the selling of package was good.

Great overall

All the people we spoke with at Americord were very kind and helpful and tried to explain everything clearly. We also got a high number of cells which is great. The only thing we had a slight confusion was with the pick up times as we thought originally it was urgent to deliver as soon as possible but after 7pm the courier doesn't come till the next morning. Needless to say the courier did come the next morning and there were no other issues so that was good.

We take great pains to hire the best people and make sure that they are trained to answer any questions that you might have as straightforwardly and transparently as possible not only regarding the benefits of cord blood banking but also why Americord is the best possible choice for parents. I have passed on your feedback to my team who are very appreciative.

I am sorry regarding the confusion regarding the pickup time. In general, we aim to have the courier collect the kit as soon after birth as possible because we understand that the hours after birth are precious and we want to avoid new parents having to worry about the collection of the cord blood kit. However, when babies are born late in the day, often the last flight from the place of birth to our laboratories in Florida and Indiana have already departed. For that reason, we normally arrange for the courier to come to the hospital the following day to avoid the kit sitting unnecessarily in a transportation hub. So long as the kit gets to our laboratory within 48 hours, there should normally be no problem with extracting stem cells. I'm sorry that our after-hours procedure was not explained to you properly; it should have been and I have instructed both our cord blood specialists and our client services representatives to explain this process and the reason for it. Finally, I am happy to hear that you got a high number of stem cells. We worked hard to develop our unique Cord Blood 2.0 process precisely to maximize our ability to collect as many stem cells as possible and I am glad that it was able to achieve that goal for you.

Satisfied and fairly treated

All of the telephone operators we have spoken with have been very kind and helpful. In the beginning, we had lots of questions and they were always patient in answering each of them. They mailed the kit straight to our house, then we just took it with us to the hospital. Very simple. We handed the kit to our nurse at the hospital and the delivery team took care of the entire collection, which was very easy for us. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication between my husband and the nursing staff as all 3 possible products were checked on the paper to be stored for us when all we wanted was cord blood (simply due to cost of storage). In his sleep deprived state my husband didn't double check and signed the form to store all 3 products. We did not catch this until we got our first bill which was approx $150 more than we agreed to pay for the cord blood. I spoke with a representative who explained my husband signed for all 3 products. Unfortunately, you can NOT throw out any products once they have processed them and stored them. So, we were looking at a $6000 bill vs a $3000 for cord blood. The representative took in to consideration what happened and gave us a little discount since we were now forced in to all 3 products unknowingly. You apparently get a discount anyway if you elect to store all 3 products, but she gave us a little more money off. She also adjusted the payment due date and offered to decreased the monthly payment to make it more affordable. Excellent customer service in my opinion, especially because it was bad news that she had to give us. I would have given 5 stars if we were able to discard the unwanted products and only pay for the cord blood as we had discussed with the rep we signed up with prior to the baby's birth. About 3 weeks after our baby's birth we received a phone call indicating that our cord blood and tissues were in excellent condition. Overall at this point we are satisfied despite now having a bigger bill.

With respect to the number of products that were stored, customers can elect at the time of signing-up whether they want to bank cord blood, cord tissue, and/or placenta tissue. Some customers initially chose to bank only one product but later change their mind and bank more. For that reason, all of our kits -- regardless of how many products have initially been selected -- are capable of being used to collect cord blood, cord tissue and placenta tissue. This gives our customers maximum flexibility to decide right up until the moment of birth what products they want to store. As you note, we include a form that allows parents to select at the time of birth the products that they want stored, again allowing parents to make the final decision right up until the last minute. I have instructed our cord blood specialists to explain to new customers that this is the form that we will use to identify what products should be stored. Although you did not ultimately want to store all three products, I hope that someone explained to you that by having stored all three products, you do not have access to a wider range of stem cells that are available had you stored cord blood only and the exciting clinical trials that are ongoing regarding how those stem cells might be used in the future to treat otherwise incurable illnesses. Great experience

I was very impressed by how responsive Americord representatives were. I had several questions and changes of heart along the way and each time the reps were fast to respond to my questions and requests. They were also very accessible by phone and email. Overall I am very satisfied with Americord.
