A Mixed Bag

I found this company to be of mixed output. Some of their staff were rude, impatient and arrogant. These people made it very difficult for me as I suffer from panic disorder and anxiety and they made my already bad situation much worse. Luckily there were slightly more staff that were lovely. Those staff listened and didn't keep jumping in, impatiently. Then there were the monotone staff, who didn't appear to care either way about you, as you were just another person with a problem. They also wanted me to supply everything they asked for in quck time whilst they dragged their feet, but that was allowed. The outcome of my case was not what I had been told it would be. I was told that the work would be done that was in 2 surveyor reports. However, that wasn't correct. A list had been added right at the end of the surveyors reports, and it was THAT work that had been agreed too. NOT all of the works that were actually needed. I still had to keep chasing up one thing, and it still hasn't been done on one or two windows. I found this company to be lacking, I didn't get the outcome I was told I would, and feel a bit mislead about it all. Had it not been for the better staff outweighing the rude staff, they would have got 1 star, and that was only because I had to so that I could write this.

Do not trust this firm

Do not trust this firm. I would give them zero stars if it were an option.Antony Hodari Solicitors completely failed to manage my housing disrepair case, and their negligence resulted in severe consequences. I explicitly warned them about a leaking, structurally unsafe ceiling. They did absolutely nothing to safeguard me or resolve the issue for over 5.5 months. They lied about the situation, and the ceiling eventually collapsed, causing me serious injuries and nearly costing me my life. When I questioned their work ethic after getting hurt, they completely shut down. They refused to engage, refused to answer my formal complaint, and refused to act on my behalf. This firm does not care about the safety or well-being of their clients; they only care about money. Avoid them at all costs.

Greedy lawyers who rejected my…

Greedy lawyers who rejected my disrepair claim because they state its not worth more than £1,000. What I find most distasteful about this lawyer is when I was looking for a lawyer 4 years ago to act for me when there was a keak into my flat they were one of 5 who wouldn't get involved and I ended up handling it myself and the corrupt Bromley county court conspired to strike out my legitemate claim. The infestation in my home, no thanks to Moat is not someting they can deal with. They are only interested in leaks. What a farce you really are on your own in this broken country were the public are treated with contempt and are a nuisance. Thanks for the reply. The housing disrepair people, Izzie informed you of the infestation. I don,t want the money ,I seek justice for the apathy of Moat housing. I tried desperately for representation when the leak to my flat went on for 7 months but no one would help. We are at the mercy of the corporations, regimes and courts with no justice. You know what I am going through, I told you about the floorboards above which have ruined my life for the last 2 years but you still disregard that.
I am a 71 year old retiree that is living the worst years of my life and it should be the most relaxing, so when I say Lawyers sre greedy it prevails throughout life.

Thank you for your comments; we are sorry we could not help.

We do deal with infestation cases. They are usually pursued as prosecutions under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 rather than as civil disrepair claims, so please do come back to us about that.

On the value of the claim, that was our decision and we stand by it. Where the repairs are estimated at £1,000 or less and the damages at £1,000 or less, the claim falls into the small claims track, where a landlord cannot be ordered to pay the tenant's legal costs. The rules allow a fixed £260 including VAT for the legal work, which is £216.67 to us, and cap the recoverable survey fee at £750 against a report costing around £1,100. We would be £350 down before starting, then conduct the case for £216.67. No one would expect a plumber to repair a boiler, pay for the parts, and then pay the homeowner for the privilege.

We could take such cases on; we choose not to, because the loss falls on the tenants we do act for. We would rather the £1,000 threshold were reviewed, as it has stood for many years and leaves genuine smaller claims without representation. Please do contact us through www.antonyhodari.co.uk about the infestation.

Terrible experience and integrity

Terrible experience, and frankly; unprofessional conduct. Poor communication with clients and mostly unavailable to answer calls. I got told many times that I would be called back and then they wouldn't. They never provided me documents pertaining my claim and would always ignore my requests. They eventually closed the claim and informed the landlord before even informing me via email. In addition, as I have no access to my own files, I am obstructed from transferring the case to a reliable firm. The landlord is now retaliating and failing to carry out arranged repairs, as they failed to represent my best interest and no accountability or apologies were even provided. My best advice is to choose a firm that acts with honour and integrity and that does not break trust and leave their clients in disgraceful conditions.

completely useless staff and service

Started to consider them but suddenly not sure. Called them explained the issues, sent pictures as requested and then called spoke to another two women staff who wanted me to explain the situation again? And as I was explaining without saying just a moment please they put music on and the same happened again, so not sure they deserve the rating on here.

My experience with Antony Hodari…

My experience with Antony Hodari Solicitors was extremely disappointing.

I instructed the firm on a no-win-no-fee basis in relation to damp and mould in my housing association property. The problem was longstanding and serious: water ingress had affected the property, mushrooms had appeared in communal areas, some of my belongings were damaged and had to be disposed of, and I spent around eight months away from my home because of the conditions.

In my experience, the case became focused mainly on reaching a financial settlement rather than ensuring that the damp, mould and underlying causes were properly resolved. I was advised about an offer that would have left me with a relatively modest amount after deductions, while mould and other problems remained.

I was not prepared to accept a settlement that, in my view, left the underlying disrepair unresolved. After I rejected that approach, the firm ceased acting for me. I also experienced difficulty obtaining my file and was told that costs would have to be paid before it could be released.

I found the whole experience particularly stressful. I am autistic and was not working, and I did not feel that my circumstances or my main objective—having the property made safe and habitable—were properly understood.

This review reflects my personal experience. Other clients may have different experiences, but I would advise anyone considering a housing disrepair claim to ask clearly at the outset whether the firm will genuinely pursue the required repairs, or whether the focus will primarily be on achieving a quick financial settlement.
