My mother in law took gravely ill while we were on holiday, we had to curtail our stay in Turkey by 3 days when we contacted asda insurance we were told our claims would be delt with by travel claims service it has been a nightmare they now want to know if my mother in law was gravely ill when we went on holiday they wanted to know her state of health when we booked the holiday and when we took out the insurance. Sorry but wouldn't recommend this company to anyone

DO NOT TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE WITH…

DO NOT TAKE OUT TRAVEL INSURANCE WITH ASDA!!!

They are happy to take your money and offer 'Superior" cover but after missing a connecting flight they refused to pay out as they only cover the outbound and inbound flights only. What kind of insurer is this??? If you are travelling abroad, then the entire trip should be covered not just the beginning and end. Absolute thieves!!!!

Literally awful

Literally awful. I missed a flight to see family in Australia due to coming down with a 24 hour bug (the kind that has your face in a toiler the entire time). They rejected my claim because "I didn't seek medical advice before cancelling my flight". So basically, unless you're an utter moron you should avoid this "company" like the absolute plague

Asda scam

I purchased an Asda multi-trip European travel insurance via a comparison website. The maximum trip duration was quoted at 90 days which was perfect for our needs. I accepted the quote and paid the full amount.

However, several days later I was contacted by Asda who stated that they couldn't honour the full 90 days because I was over 65. The best they could offer was 31 days maximum, which I refused and asked for the policy to be cancelled.

I have just gone onto another comparison website and Asda are still offering 90 days of cover for my identical quotation! The company really needs to get their act together. I am investigating the legal position as they had already issued my policy and I had paid the premium.

It seems that the customers are expected to help contribute to the company cashflow. Suggest you do not buy travel insurance from this dreadful company. I will not use them again. I have no idea when I will get my money back and will report back if I don't.

Shamefully bad customer service

Shamefully bad customer service! I purchased the platinum level cover on an annual policy, thinking that a massive company like ASDA would offer a reasonably good policy. WRONG! My claim was fairly simple and I followed all the correct procedures and submitted all the documents they asked for. Nearly 2 months later my claim has still not been settled and my emails and calls are not responded to. I will be finding out who the ombudsman is and reporting this to them. Absolutely DISGUSTING service - obviously WILL NEVER USE AGAIN!

Asda if I could give you less stars I…

Asda if I could give you less stars I would. My shopping was meant to be here on Monday 4th between 8:30 -9:30pm. I called you Tuesday 5th at 9am wondering where it was. You told me that it was a delivery issue and I could have my shopping on Wednesday if I pay again. I have no food, I have no extra money to pay you. I was told categorical you couldn't put my pending order back till Friday meaning I couldn't reorder my food or go and buy more food as a refund would take a week. My partner used to work for Asda and spoke to the man who started questioning which department and so forth. After a heated argument with my partner our money suddenly turned up in our account again even though we were told CATEGORICALLY it would take a week.
I will never use your service ever again. I will tell all my friends and family never to use you, I will go on every social media platform I have and can possibly download. You didn't care at all that I had zero food in the house and zero money to have food. You told me that 'other people are in the situation too'
You didn't even contact me to let me know you weren't going to deliver. I have had no breakfast this morning and I have nothing to make lunch with and your company couldn't care less if it tried. I'm truly disgusted.

Watch out for auto-renewals even after you cancel

Took out travel insurance with them for a one year policy in 2017. Under the small print of the policy, this auto-renews every year. In 2018 I contacted them to confirm I wanted to cancel the policy and had to wait for the money to be refunded. Now they have just done the same thing again and have charged me to renew a policy which I have already cancelled. Completely unacceptable.

Ordered Hungarian Forint for next day…

Ordered Hungarian forint for next day delivery as i was due to go on holiday the day after at 5am! The day it was due to be received in the post i received an email to say they have tried contacting me ( no missed calls ) to re confirm my address. As they had still not sent the money out in the post this meant i would not get it the day i needed to so i only had 1 day to order Hungarian money to pick up the same day! i asked for a refund and was informed i would receive it in the next hour and if i didn't to contact the bank. I contacted the bank 2 hours later as i urgently needed the money back to buy more currency and they said the company had not yet even released the money! i then had to phone back to ask them to release the refund as i was now panicking and they said they had still not even done this! by the time i eventually got the refund it was to late to even order the money to pick up at the airport.

I would not recommend anyone to use this currency exchange!!

Asda PrePaid Currency Card

i ordered a euro currency card before i went on holiday ..... checked asdas website as well as Travelex who work in partnership with asda for their currency exchange both over the counter cash and currency cards.... Collected the card then went home to register online.... which according to both companies website would allow me to see current balance and top up online.... failed at the registration point had to phone CardPassport who control the cards to find out why.... the guy at the kiosk at asda put in the wrong security information... 3 attempt online and your card is locked... spent 20min on the phone to CashPassport... got security info changed and card unlocked.... went on holiday.... wanted to check balance and top up on line... could not get access to my account... could not check balance at ATMs abroad... and there was no way i was phoning a UK number from abroad to sit there for 20-30min while someone gets their thumb out their backside to get it sorted.... Got back to the UK... phoned CashPassport... they apologise for the inconvenience and again reset my security info and then go on to say "you can't top up online because that part of their service has been down since July 2018 and at this time they don't know when it will be back up and running.... I stated that i had entered into a contract with them by having this card and at no point either online on Asdas or Travelex website does it state that your not able to top up online.... I said i wanted compensating for my time and inconvenience for the negligence in my security info being wrong TWICE and locking out my card plus not having access to online top ups..... she offered £10.... which i found insulting and said i would get more satisfaction informing other people on social media about the incompetent people at both Asda and Travelex..... i will be copying and pasting to the trust pilot Travelex site as well..... If you want a prepaid currency card AVOID ASDA and TRAVELEX.... its not worth the hassle ...... Good Luck

I phoned main asda place from the net…

I phoned main asda place from the net to order some American dollars I asked about a card I was told you cannot get them by phone you have to get them at the kiosk at my local store in Tamworth so I ordered the money £1,500 worth and when I went to pick them up the next day I asked about a card and I was told I cannot get a card from down there because I had the cash it was an absolute joke .I would never recommend anyone to use them to get money for going on holiday . I did understand on the conversation on the phone that I could not have a card when I ordered the money because they have nothinv to do with yhe cards but i could get the card from instore which was fine butonly to be told I could not get a card at the store because I had ordered cash was ridiculous I phoned the ASDA site back where I had ordered the money only to be told they would look into it but the woman at the store w was following protocol so I asked what the protocol is I can't order a card off the phone I can only order cash but I can get a card at the store where i collect my dollars . yet again I asked how can I get a card from the kiosk because the woman said I cannot have a card because I have had ordered the cash it was an absolute joke . at no point was I told that I should have had just x amount of cash and saved the other when I went down to the kiosk and apparently I should have asked for a card and paid with English money I could not even put any of the American dollars back onto the card so now I am left with $1,900 to walk about with in Florida .Terrible company for travel money . Oh and also when I ordered the money on phone you get a fair bit higher rate than in store so I was advised it's better to order by phone so if I'd gave had a card in store it's at s much lower rate anyway . Total joke .

Almost impossible to contact them by phone

I had to cancel a family due to a serious illness that required immediate surgery. I have failed to speak to anyone on the phone as kept on hold for more than an hour on every occasion. Bought superior cover but now discovered that they aren't refunding atol and apd tax. They told me to go back to travel company to try and get it back. Insurance much like a hospital nightgown, you think you're covered but you're not. I would never ever use them again and would never recommend them.

Awful Customer Service/admin blunders

Awful Customer Service. First time I rang to make a claim I was hanging on the telephone for 45 minutes!! I was finally able to get through and have finally submitted my claim. 12 days on and no acknowledgement of receiving my paperwork (all original documents as photocopies were not accepted) and sent recorded delivery. I have now been hanging on the telephone to speak to someone for 36 minutes so far. No sign of anyone answering. Not even an apology for keeping me waiting for so long!! Still hanging on!! What terrible service. I await to see the outcome. I will never use these again.
Update - finally got through after 50 minutes only to be told more documentation was needed. I pointed out I had sent everything that was requested. Put on hold for another 10 minutes and then told that yes - I had sent everything. It would now have to go back to case handler for further review. What an awful mess. Their advert says "never go anywhere else for your insurance. I would rather go anywhere else than use these again. So stressful on top of my reason for cancelling the holiday which was because my husband had a heart attack and was unable to travel."".

Poor communication re refund and 31 days for a cheque to arrive??

booked in January for end of August trip, then got diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, had the surgery, all healed, but phoned asda travel 3 weeks before trip to update policy .Was told I'd need to cancel policy and rebook and I 'should' get a refund.
Did so and am still waiting for refund after several phone calls, have now been told it's been authorised and 'should' be sent on Monday but that it takes 31 days for a cheque to arrive. So 'if' it's sent on Monday it'll be 31 days from Monday. How on earth does it take 31 days??

Very poor treatment of claims

Very poor treatment of claims. One time, they had mistaken the country and currency of my claim. For another claim due to a ski injury, it took them 5 months to assess the claim and they still made mistakes. I had to keep asking for updates for them to finally start to assess my claim. They are asking for further documents which they already have in their possession. It is endless and this is not even a massive claim (less £300), I still have not been compensated properly. I cannot imagine what it would be for a more substantial claim. I would really avoid contracting an insurance with them and will definitely not renew my policy.
