I have been using Asda home delivery a couple times a week for years now. I have had my fair share of issues. I am considering cancelling my delivery pass / account and going back to shopping at Aldi instead or Morrisons grocery deliveries. Here are the highlights of my experience.
1. product quality is hit and miss. I find myself having to request refunds regularly for rotten vegetables, damaged / opened chilled food or just bad quality. Think more care should be taken when picking the products for the order to make sure that the product quality is there. It takes a second to check for mould or rotten produce.
2. Substitutions - they keep using the phrase that you will never pay more for your substitute but this isn't strictly true. Today I have a substitute on my order ( 5772569002057 ) for chicken breasts. The sub they chose is smaller but more expensive per kg than what I ordered so I think this is misleading when they use the phrase. Really they should bring the price per kg in line with what you ordered or give you the same amount for the price you ordered.
3. Deliveries arriving outside of slot time. Sending a text at the end of your time slot to say it's delayed is not helpful (example order 5772569002057) So make sure your delivery comes for when you have no plans just in case, you will not be compensated for the inconvenience if they come outside if slot time and you are not in.
4. Returns process can be painful. Recent example I bought 3 sets of dinner plates, all had issues. They don't match the pictures online as advertised, are scratched or have manufacturing defects. Working through the refunds process I am asked to travel to the nearest store to get a refund. No compensation for the inconvenience. Strangely after this I noticed my account is rejected for refunds now so I had to call when I received a short date item that according to the online store should have 6+ days on it.
5. App has had numerous issues over the years which lead to not being able to update orders or unable to take payment from Barclays / Tesco bank. This has got better but every now and then there is an issue. If they sort out the other problems this is easy to overlook or get around.
I phoned someone today to talk through concerns and that I was thinking of leaving. They processed my refund that was rejected but didn't really want to say it do anything about my concerns. Perhaps they are too big to worry about losing customers who have spent so much with them over the years - I don't know. Shame really as with a few tweaks the service could be so much better.
Rubbish
Full of food right on it's use by date, binned a quarter of my delivery. You cannot plan a week's food using this service as you cannot rely on the dates. Asda delivery is nothing more than a way of them cutting down on write offs. Avoid. Last point, the daily e mails asking for reviews are annoying
I've already reviewed asda online…
I've already reviewed asda online shopping it was bad then and for the 2nd time in 2 months they've let me down again. 5 substitutes then can they cancelled the order just before it was due to arrive. I.will no longer be giving them the time of day . They are a useless, overpriced waste of space
Fish pie
Asda should be ashamed for calling this a fish pie. Should re label it as bowl of potato you might find a bit of fish if lucky. The ratio much be 9-1 potato. This is very disappointing and has made me change where I shop.
Am not always updated in advance if…
Am not always updated in advance if they are going to be earlier than the booked time slot, but to my memory has never been later than.
A system error meant they couldn't refund an undesired substitute at the door but there was no issues doing so online.
Delivery Charlatans.
If there was a no star review, this bunch of Charlatans would get it! First time We have used Asda online grocery delivery service and it will certainly be the last if and when the order arrives! Booked for an evening slot (6pm - 7pm), it is now 8pm and still no grocery delivery. Spoken to a lovely Lady in some faraway land and was told its on its way with no contact with their Driver, we'll send you a £5 voucher for the inconvenience. That can go where the sun doesn't shine ASDA.
I had an order booked for between 9pm…
I had an order booked for between 9pm and 10pm last night. At 11pm I am still waiting thinking because of the snow he may just be running late, he never arrived, no e mail no phone call nothing, so eventually at midnight I went to bed. Got up this morning still no e mail or phone call, so I call them to be told my order was cnxld due to bad weather, I asked could it be delivered today to which I was told no they were short of drivers so just to re order and they would refund my initial payment, which could take 5 days to reach my account. So they want me to pay again how do they know I have the money to pay again, they don't know and never even offered a free delivery slot by way of apology. Customer service is disgusting and lack of help is not customer friendly. Not to mention the 6 substitutions on my receipt, the order is never fully complete. I will go back to waitrose and asda can kick rocks
Multiple poor experiences
Multiple poor experiences, will never use again. All other supermarkets manage this, why can't Asda?
Asda online avoid !
Have been a regular customer re Asda delivery ordered 10 items and 5 of them were substitutes , not even close to original order . . Still charged for delivery , absolute disgrace . Will be using Tesco in future , they value their customers !This happens every time you have the later delivery . Between 8-11 am you get everything but pay more for delivery . You take the cheap delivery slot , get lots of substitutes , it is a con !!!
Would never do online shop here
Repeatedly missing items..that i paid for. Bizarre and random replacements. Many items not available. Usually about half of shop is missing or not available there was a time Asda was quite good. Gone down hill.
100% lost a customer and deserved.
100% lost a customer and deserved.
Each time ordered substitutions that make no sense i wonder who they hire there as clearly useless.
Always out of stock on items they actually have out back just not on shelves (fill your shelves then or get collect out back)
Pointless to send items that are totally differnt than the actual one ordered
Put in a complaint and they tell you to hand it back to driver. Well that dosnt help is getting the item as now you need to waste time and fuel to get the item from elsewhere.
If your feeling lucky they will give you an out of date voucher for money off your next purchase
(No pay me back my fuel and time and give me an item that resembles the one ordered)
The only good thing I can say about the online delivery is the drivers are decent and friendly and always good and you can have a chat with them literally the only saving grace.
100% not worth using.
Asda do better its not hard.

Service is good but fruit and veg keep going off on my last few orders. Quality is poor

I bought a lamb roast from Asda and it was awful. Ther re was no lamb taste and the fruits were mushy . I followed all the cooking instructions . So disappointed with this and it’s putting me off shopping at Asda again. I usually shop here at least twice a week. This roast cost 28.00
Zero would be correct
Zero would be correct. Advertising Standards really should intervene, as this company should not be allowed to operate.
When ordering online, products should be available or marked as 'out of stock', so when told on day of delivery, 'not available' on Christmas eve and unable to get out as I am disabled to get some missing items - beer and wine for Christmas, all of it! Worst store of all! The owner brothers do not care, are in debt, but buying million pound homes for their relations!! Words are not enough for these people.
I received a babylis hairdryer 2400…
I received a babylis hairdryer 2400 without a concentrator nozzle requested a refund online replied immediately we won't give you a refund. I rang customer services they placed a refund apologised for inconvenience and received £5 voucher via email.
Removed 3/4 of basket
We had booked a Christmas slot. Placed over 100 items in the basket, 1 week before delivery, they removed almost 3/4 of the basket. I understand stock runs low this time of year but the store would have at least 7 deliveries between removing items and the delivery date. This is so unprofessional and shows that Asda has no customer care. Not everybody has the luxury or ability to shop in store. My wife is disabled and suffers from major anxiety, so struggling through busy supermarket is not an option. Asda should be avoided like the plague. Boycott them, not give them your money
Failed delivery
Placed order for 20th December delivery time 9.30-10.30 pm waited until midnight, no delivery.rang 7 am 21st to get through to a Chinese call centre for Asda can't ring the store direct outcome NO DELIVERY. I am a disabled person on dialysis so can't visit the store if they give a refund 5-7 working days so after Christmas, THANKS ASDA FOR RUINING CHRISTMAS
Online shopping
Yet again I placed my online order for the 19 December from 6-8pm. Tried getting onto the website but was buffering the whole time. Finally got on at 7.45pm and it said the driver had arrived which he hadn’t. At 8.15pm I rang to see what was happening. To be told my order had been cancelled. The reason I do online is I don’t have time to go into the shop. Now having to totally reschedule my weekend to fit it in. This isn’t the first Christmas this has happened
Wrong wines
I order delivery before Christmas because I spotted nice wines (buy 6 and have 25%off). First of all, it was something wrong with the payment (for no reason as I didn't have problem with the other payments). I wanted to give up but tried again because of the wines. I had to pay with the other card. Ok, delivery came, I unpacked it as quick as possible (it was a lot of items). When I started to put things in place, I spotted that the wine is different from what I ordered. So I was given one bottle of proper wine (which I ordered) and 5 of nasty and cheap ones. I called asda straight away, they promised refund but it was nearly10 days ago and still nothing. I really don't think it was mistake to give me those bad wines. I never had bigger problem with asda before but since last time - never ever again.
Worst Groceries
Always send me the worst substitutions and when i ask for refund they refuse by saying something very vague. Crap
