An absolute train wreck

I have been in contact with ASO technical support on numerous occasions to resolve a longstanding problem.

Several weeks later, after being kicked back and forth between departments I am no further ahead in sorting the problem. Meanwhile, my server is still down with no website, ftp or whm or cpanel access.

Each time I contact them I am told they are working on the problem only for them to do nothing.

I purchased additional services on the promise this would solve the issue but no such luck.

I have been with ASO for several years along with other providers and I have to say this is the worst experience so far. The whole fiasco would be laughable if I weren't ripping my hair out.

Never again ASO...never again

Websites taken down for days on end!

Websites taken down without proper communication to customers. My sites have been offline for 50 hours now, yet their service status hasn't been updated since 29th June (1st July today). The service status simply states that there will be disruption, during which, "there may be a small amount of downtime".

The chat representatives just give me a standard copy and paste response, saying that they are unable to give me an estimated timeframe for the migration as it is a backend process and takes time. That is ridiculous!

I am unable to retrieve any of my website files as they refuse to help. Why hasn't this failed migration been rolled back?

Pathetic hosting company. I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Very bad experience

They may be considered "value for money" but do you really want to pay for something that hardly works? I'm in a process of moving away from them, they've been nothing but trouble. They've just started some "migration" that they never warned me about with my website AND my email down for 2 days and was told that all emails sent to me will be lost, incredible poor service. Please do not go with host nine or A Small Orange (new company name), if you do, you will regret it

They took down all my 20 sites when moving them to another server. Then they didn't restore them, and they didn't give me new IP addresses for them. Also, my SSL certificates were not moved. A total disaster.

Never Trust A Small Orange ! very very bad support

I am Asking for Refund!
I transferred all my sites to a another server,
No need to this server anymore.

Never Trust A Small Orange ! very very bad support every replay take 4 days to respond, I Have an issue with ptr Record since 38 days till now not solved. That mean most of your emails will not sent or sent to spam.

Ticket ID LVI-359-86709
Need to set REVERSE DNS (PTR)

they always have a copy/paste response
I have rechecked and could see that the internal case is still in progress. Rest assured, this will be resolved soon because we wouldn’t want to inconvenience our customers for long.

at the end they disabled email notification for the ticket then closed the ticket!

When a hosting provider shows you the middle finger

We've been at ASO (formerly Hostnine) since 2017. We host Webspace for about 300 Domains there and for our purpose it's been sufficient for the price up until recently. It's absolutely horrible now.

Things have gone downhill after they stopped support via Live Chat. You can only issue tickets now anymore.
But these guys won't help you. No, you'll get a bad translated copy&paste preset from an indian support center. It doesn't matter what you respond. They won't help you and just send the same preset over and over again - even if it isn't quite related to your issue anymore.

Never in my life I have been disappointed by a service provider like that. We've been a top client for so many years and now have to move hundreds of domain's hosting to a provider that cares at least a small bit about his clients.

A Small Orange definitely isn't worth the small price. You'll regret it, because they and their cheap indian "technical support experts" don't give a flying f. about you or your business.

Bad hosting, bad customer care

I have been hosting with A Small Orange for nearly ten years. The last four or so years I have been having troubles sending emails to Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail and a number of other domains. I have complained over the years, but kept grinning and bearing. Eventually, four years later I have had enough. They used to have an amazing customer care, now they just go through proverbial motions and nothing ever changes

Incompetent and useless

If I could give zero stars In would..
Incompetent customer service. No way to file a complaint. All they do I response to a ticket is send the same response over and over.
They used to be good when they were run out of California now responses appear to be formulated using Google translate from deepest darkest India..
After 20 years I'm done. Stay away..

Never, ever use A Small Orange

Never, ever use A Small Orange.

We have been using ASO for 7 years, and right now I'm in the middle of dealing with a tech support issue that's only been addressed 2 times in the last 72 hours since creating the ticket. There is no phone support, only tickets and live chat, but the live chat folks don't know how to deal with very complicated issues.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but we're absolutely fed up with their awful service and ready to move on.

If you're looking for a web host, I wouldn't even recommend using them if they were the last one on the planet. It would be more effective to go door to door and tell people about your site.

Save youself a lot of frustration and avoid ASO

My experience echos what several others that have written. Their email service is dysfunctional to the extent that no email to a yahoo.com address will be delivered. I quit ASO three years ago after a year of putting up with their claims of having the problem fixed, nearly fixed, will be fixed, etc. and it never was. Recently I reactivated the account thinking that surely the issues would have been resolved in the intervening three years. It turns out that is not the case. Still cannot send email to yahoo.com addresses. Still get the same lame excuses from ASO. At that point I canceled the account again and requested a refund since their service is plainly unacceptable. Not surprisingly they refuse to issue a refund. It is, in their words, "Not our policy to issue refunds."

find another host

after more than a decade, it is such a relief to have left aso. i cannot believe we waited three years for the "senior" technical people to get email working correctly (never happened). it was stupid to keep paying them for so long.

the folks running the email servers are clearly incompetent. additionally, management did not hire people who could fix email that was blacklisted by yahoo and aol. yes, the black listing takes place in control of a third party. however, just about every other email provider manages to get mail through to aol and yahoo, two of the larger email domains in the world. furthermore, i am willing to wager that the ones that did have problems managed to fix their situation in less than three years (the span of time that i experienced the inability to send email to aol and yahoo). it is such a relief to now use an email provider that is capable.

additionally, aso refused to refund any portion of the fees, upgrade for no cost to a better server, or even provide the credentials to an improved smtp server that did not bounce email from aol and yahoo. clearly, aso did not care to fix the problem nor provide a work around.

Huge fee increases

Do not trust this company. They increased the price for my small hosting account $94.60 to $104.06 in 2021. In 2020, they increased the price from $86 to $94.60. They do not give refunds or respond to inquiries. I have not found a phone number to contact customer service. Terrible expensive service.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could rate it lower, I would! Servers are overburdened and support is India-USELESS. EIG (Endurance International Group) bought ASO out, like they did so many other decent small webhosts, migrated support to India, and ran them into the ground. EIG should be sued class-action - EIG is a study in everything wrong with Corporate America.

I would give them less than 1/5 if it was possible.
Avoid this host at all costs. Mind numbingly dumb people working customer service and the tech guy destroyed my company website. Right now they can't figure out how to send me a backup to transfer to another hosting company or they think they're playing me to get more of my money. Forget ASO.

I agree with previous comment this "inexpensive" jumps up with each year. I have paid $128 for hosting on my third year and no refund is going to be issued(only credit. The price above is with 20% discount to bare in mind. $86 is for domain hosting, SSL certificate $39.95 for one year and does not cover your subdomains. I have paid for a year and now regret it. It was on autopay). Initially, I paid only around $10.
