Essential in my newbie's journey of video editing and translation

I'm a computer scientist, not a journalist or an editor .. and we had the 'great' idea of making 3 half hour English workshop videos for an important event.. with about two weeks' notice. Little did I know. So the inicial idea was to interview 2 people per workshop with 3 questions each, edit and interlace the edited sections with some video software.

All interviewers told me they preferred Spanish, so I ended up with 5 zoom videos and audios ranging from 50 to 120 minutes each, from where I had to edit 18 video-sections of about 5 minutes each, all with subtitles in ENGLISH. .. Instead of watching the large Zoom videos, and jotting down the timings for each interesting part, I took the large zoom videos and uploaded them to Audiotype ..

I got the 'textual not perfect but understandable' transcripts some minutes later, in various formats. I used the text paragraph output to feed ChatGPT4 for classifying and summarizing the subjects across the interviews, with initial timings.. From the context, ChatGPT mostly could get the mistranslated parts.

On the other side I took the SRT subtitle file and generated a CSV with the start - end time on 2 columns, and the text in a third, and with a python script I crossed that to get the sections of each line..
I added a column with the total time including decimals of seconds, of each subtitle entry. So when I added another column indicating I would select that text for the subsection, I could add them and see the total timing each section was taking ..

In this way I traversed the interviews to select my 18 sections and their timing..

I passed that excel to the journalist-editors, who gave me then, 18 edited video-sections in Spanish, they were not experts at subtitle managing so I couldn't reuse the original subtitles...

Then I uploaded these 5 minute video-sections to Audiotype again and got the final transcript with the timings of the interventions, I passed this to excel and rough translated the text with ChatGPT, and took that SRT to check the correct translation on the edited video .. It takes time, but infinitely less than it would have been without Audiotype .. Actually, I checked the software before accepting to do the interviews and the translation, since I knew I would heavily depended on this part ... Worth every dollar (I should make a tutorial and publish the scripts ;)

Good, probably getting better.

It was quick. Not bad. But I immediately noticed enough errors. Nothing I can't fix after a quick read. Fortunately it's not a long piece. This service will come in hand for transcribing lectures I give without using a scribe. I'll be back. Thanks.

Great way to transcribe interviews

I've used this service several times to transcribe interviews for my work as a freelance journalist. There are some free transcription services available, but you can't beat this one for the price and convenience. The transcripts arrive quickly in multiple formats, and it's more accurate than some other solutions I've tried.

Professional service

Professional service. I found Audiotype to be very helpful and prompt in sending the audio transcript and also in attending to queries and clarification I sought thereafter. I highly recommend them.

Vastly exceeded my expectations!

I had a 40 minute meeting that I needed transcribed. After doing some google searching, I found Audiotype. First, let me tell you that when I tested out the "Free sample" transcript, I was impressed enough with what it showed me that I wanted to see how much it cost to get the full thing. I was surprised that the cost for the entire transcript was under $10 - so it was an easy decision to try it out. After all worst case and the transcript was terrible, I was only out some pocket change.
After a wait time of only 7 minutes, I received an email with the results.
I was very impressed. The quality was amazing. The transcript identified the two speakers, time stamped everything. I couldn't believe how good it was. I am definitely going to use the service again.

Great help by Audiotype

I've been using Audiotype regularly for more than a year and I'm very happy that I can convert YouTube spoken text to docx text. Even my friends are very surprised that it works. I will continue to be your customer.

A very generous page

A very generous page. Although my payment was still marked as "pending" on their side they sent me the transcription.

The quality of the transcription was good, only a few corrections needed to be done by hand.

I highly recommend Audiotype!

My transcripts look great- they lack contact info

I received my transcripts and they look great. They were emailed to me very quickly, but make sure you check your spam folder because that’s where mine ended up.
** Edit for transparency: originally I gave this company 1 star because I thought I didn’t receive my transcripts (they were in my spam folder) and this was the only way I could get their attention because there are ZERO ways to contact them on their website or anywhere for that matter. I still think that is very unprofessional and could scare off many people like myself.

BAD EXPERIENCE USING AUDIOTYPE

I needed a fast transcription service for research purposes. I searched online and Audiotype came up. After I uploaded the files and tried to pay with my card through the Stripe link, it kept declining even though the account had enough to pay the fees. I got the mail showing the preview of just what I needed. Sadly, I could not access the service to auto-transcribe over 3 hours of audio. This is unfortunate and paints a picture of Audiotype's non-inclusive disposition towards the global market. Africans and people outside Europe also deserve to be able to get services rendered to them without hitches like this.

The site also lacks contact details for those who need customer support; very unflattering and unhelpful for their brand credibility, availability and transparency.

It was not a pleasurable experience at all, and I hope no one ever has to go through this again.
