Excellent support from Austin Kemp
Austin Kemp have been excellent in providing support and advice during the process of my divorce. They were responsive to queries I had and helped me understand what was needed. They made a difficult life transition as painless as possible and explained things to me in simple terms to ensure the clarity of the message. My ex and me are still on good terms but the whole process could have gone wrong were it not for the clear guidance given throughout by Austin Kemp.
I would thoroughly recommend them to help you through this potentially stressful process. They helped me get all the necessary paperwork to the court in a way that was clearly understandable to a layman but also met the requirements of the legal process.

I am unhappy
I was referred by Wikivorce to Austin Kemp for a fixed-fee consent order. I completed Austin Kemp's client questionnaire and provided the information they requested. I received a reply asking me for fees in addition to the fixed fee agreed with and already paid to Wikivorce. I queried this but got only auto-replies for the next two months. Wikivorce intervened and transferred my case to another solicitor who completed the work for the agreed fixed fee.
I wanted to put my experience of Austin Kemp behind me but eleven months after failing to reply to my email, they contacted me to ask whether I still wanted their services. At that stage I wrote a one-star review of their service on TrustPilot. Austin Kemp's managing director immediately phoned me, told me I was defaming his firm and that he would take action. I removed my review for three days but I believe I have the right to report my experience so that others can make an informed decision about whose services to use.

Having time to consider the comments you have posted and the facts of your case - there appears to be a great deal of information which you have decided to omit from your comments, and therefore your comments appear to be factually inaccurate.
1. Your Client Care Letter
Once you decided to instruct our Firm, you were provided with a Client Care Letter and Terms of Business.
In our Client Care Letter we explained to you:
(a) what work is covered and
(b) what work is NOT covered, in your Client Care Letter.
Furthermore, we made it clear any work which is NOT covered as part of your Client Care Letter will be subject to additional fees.
We explained, any further work required - we shall first contact you before incurring the fees on your behalf.
Subsequently, you wished our Firm to undertake additional work which was not covered under our agreed Client Care Letter.
You were contacted by email, and informed in order for the additional work to be undertaken there are additional charges - and the these charges were set out with a detailed narrative of what the work is and how much this would cost you. You were asked to confirm if you were happy to proceed on this basis - before the work was undertaken.
Upon receipt of our email you began to challenge our colleague on the question of why you were asked to pay additional fees.
We explained as the work you require us to complete is “additional work” which is NOT part of our Client Care Letter agreement.
You simply did not accept you were asking for additional work - and refused to pay for this. You refused to refer to the Client Care Letter which detailed this very point.
2. Failing to engage our Complaints Procedure
Our Client Care Letter states - in the event you wish to raise a formal complaint; first contact the Managing Director, and in the event you are not happy with the outcome seek redress via the Legal Ombudsman. The details are provided very clearly in our Terms of Business and Website.
You failed to do raise a formal complaint and instead decided to post factually incorrect comments on the internet omitting key details of what actually happened.
3. You instruct another firm of Solicitors, but fail to inform this Firm
You decide to instruct another firm of Solicitors and fail to notify this Firm of your cancellation of instructions.
On 16 August 2021, your received an email from our colleague to ascertain if you wish to continue with your case - as we needed your instructions on how you wish to proceed.
Please note, if you had notified this Firm of your cancellation of instructions - you would not have been contacted by email on 16 August 2021. It appears, 11 months after the event, this prompted you to post factually incorrect comments on the internet omitting key details of what actually happened.
We are saddened to read your factually incorrect comments about this Firm as it was apparent from your online comments you failed to mention:
1. You had received a Client Care Letter and Terms of Business which explained what is covered by our service and when you will charged additional fees;
2. When you are notified by this Firm of additional work required, you failed to confirm how you wish to proceed - instead you decided to challenge the fee structure, but declined to provide further instructions;
3. You failed to notify this Firm of your decision to change your Solicitor;
4. You failed to engage this Firm’s Complaints Procedure (details of which are stated in our Terms of Business and Client Care Letter and on our website), and
5. You failed to engage the Legal Ombudsman (details of which are stated in our Terms of Business and Client Care Letter and on our website).
If you did not agree to our fee structure as stated in our Client Care Letter - you had ample opportunity to address this and/or seek alternative representation before starting your case. But you did not.
It appears, you have edited your comments to focus on a delay to your email. Please note, as already mentioned:
(a) You were contacted by a member of our Team
(b) You responded by refusing to pay the additional fee for the additional work which was not covered by your Client Care Letter
(c) We awaited your instructions on how you wished to proceed - but you failed to provide them.
The reason for the delay was due to the fact you refused to provide this firm with clear instructions on how you wish to proceed.
Based on the facts of what has occurred your version of events unfortunately are factually inaccurate.
If you wish to discuss this matter further please contact our offices so that we may assist in any which way possible. We would very much appreciate the opportunity to resolve any matters which do not meet your satisfaction.
Its been a hard year with the pandemic…
Its been a hard year with the pandemic and its implications and I was starting to get frustrated but Austin Kemp have handled my divorce superbly given the circumstances. When I needed support towards the end of the process they provided it with a reassuring telephone call to explain the situation putting my mind at ease.
They have been fast, efficient and completely dependable throughout, a real support, and so I can personally highly recommend them as a divorce lawyers should you be in need of one.

Making Consent Order easy to follow
I was referred to Austin Kemp by a third party. Their service is inexpensive, their instruction is clear and easy to follow. The consent order was done fairly straightforward. The waiting time was a little long but then during lockdown every solicitor seems super busy so I have no complaints about it.

My ex and I managed to avoid the cost of legal representation and agreed a settlement between ourselves, but this needed to be written up properly into a consent order. Austin Kemp provided this service and apart from a couple of amendments to the first draft, completed this quickly and efficiently and the order was processed by the court without any issue.

Extremely thorough and helpful, even through a Global Pandemic
Austin Kemp have been extremely professional in their handling of my Divorce and Consent Order services. They have drafted all paperwork and submitted to the Courts for me. I'm awaiting Court decision on my Consent Order before the Decree Absolute, where I have been well advised in protecting my interests.
I have been dealing with two members of staff dealing with the matters who are polite, courteous and very helpful.
Having recently had a courtesy call to ask how the process has been handled only served to reinforce my happiness with the service.

I felt the service was good value, and as good, if not better, than I would have received at a local solicitor, for a lot less cost.

Austin Kemp are a little expensive compared to the others in the market – but you certainly get what you pay for here. I must say they handled my case with such compassion and patience. Really impressed with their determination to settle my divorce finances without the need to go to court.
