We rented a car via booking.com in Italy. Autovia didn't accept our credit card, they didn't accept our debit card and we didn't get the car. We called their customer support (from EU, their support is in UK) this 15 min call cost us 50 EUR. We got no help and at the end got asked to rate their service (haha) after we got to know that we will not receive a refund for a car we didn't get.
We then had to come back to the airport and overpay for the car from another provider (luckly they had a car available).
To summarise: we lost~300 EUR and ~2 hours of our trip

My 8-day booking was cancelled even though I had already paid an 80% advance. The cancellation happened simply because I arrived 3 hours late for the pickup.
Their policies seem heavily biased against customers. After cancelling my booking, they attempted to rent the same car to someone else at nearly double the original price while refusing to provide a refund. Overall, my experience was extremely disappointing and felt unfair and misleading.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - con artists - when arriving at the pickup desk . handed over my visa credit for the deposit and was told that they wouldn't accept it despite it being a compliant card according to my booking voucher ( Halifax clarity credit card). was told the only way around it was if i purchased there top insurance coverage at an additional 250euros. the same thing happened to 3 other members of the group we were in despite us trying multiple different credit cards.

My recommendation is the same as before never rent a car from this company. The saga continues, so Autovia think that a pinprick(not even a chip) on a windcreen justifies a charge of €842 when epoxy would easily repair for max of €100. Their Trust Pilot team suggested I contacted customer services who would assist with a more transparent approach. I will let you form your own view as to whether the Trust Pilot team just provide a platitude so they can say they deal with complaints within 24 hours and whether the customer services team are useful. All I requested is copy of the repairers invoice supporting the charge of. €842. Clearly it does not exist.

As we already explained to you, the damage found at the return of your rental was not present on the list of the preexisting damages on the second page of the contract.
Furthermore, there were no notifications to our staff indicating different damages at the beginning of the rental. So, the damage is under your responsibility.

The car I hired broke down mid-trip — it was stuck in 1st gear and unsafe to drive. I did the right thing: stopped, called for breakdown assistance, and followed Autovia’s instructions. They told me to pay for two long taxi rides (over €260 total) to return to Verona for a replacement car — which I did — and to claim the costs back later.
2 months later, no refund, no reply. They do not reply to emails or answer the phone. To make it worse, they even charged me €141 for fuel for the broken-down car that was towed away!
Nearly two months, multiple emails, and no response. This level of service and accountability is completely unacceptable.

What made this experience great was the clerk who assisted us at the Milan Linate airport. She was wonderful - very informative and assisted us with each step of the process of rental.

The overall experience was very positive. We booked through rentalcars.com part of booking.com, and as soon as we were notified of the cancellation of our flight, we contacted the booking.com help line and they send an email to Autovia advising them of our new arrival schedule. When we finally arrived at Linate, some 9 hours later than planned, the lady at the counter was friendly, efficient and made no fuzz at all. It helped that my details were already on their system, because I had rented with them before, so everything went quickly with no real paper work to fill in.
The only bad experience was the fact that there was no windscreen wash, and that the warning system to keep your hands on the wheel (which was every 30 seconds on the motor way, whilst I had my hands on the steering wheel) could not be switched off, eventhough I had selected driver alert warnings off. Perhaps I just don't know how a Citroen DS7 works.
But overall, I would highly recommend Autovia at Linate airport.

If I could give them zero stars I would. Rented in Milan Linate airport- broke down on day one in Bergamo. Milan called a tow for us, directed us to go to Bergamo airport to pick up another. Bergamo advised they ‘could not find the car’ (despite their company calling for the tow) and made us wait for 3 hrs, basically accused us of stealing it. They eventually found it.. then advised they didn’t have a replacement car available for us. We have sent multiple emails to customer service, all unanswered, We have received no refund and they kept our $500 euro damage deposit. Avoid this company, total scam. Not to mention the clerk we dealt with Bergamo was beyond unfriendly. We were polite and reasonable the entire way though- and I understand that every company has a bad day- but this is still ongoing with zero assistance. I don’t understand how they could still be in business. One time tourist clients I guess.

Very bad axperience. They did not accept the payment and then we had to wait 3….. hours for the car. “No cars available at the moment”, what a joke… we were the only people there…

I had prepaid for a vehicle rental and showed up at the agency with a valid physical ID, exactly as required. Despite this, the staff refused to give me the car, claiming my ID was not acceptable.
I contacted their customer service afterwards, and they falsely stated that I did not have my ID physically with me — which is simply untrue.
They have kept my money and refused any refund. I've reported the case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC France) for assistance.
This is not just poor service, it's a dishonest business practice. I strongly advise others to avoid this company until they take accountability and treat customers fairly.

Had a great experience with Iron Man at check in. Was really fast and a simple process. Iron Man was super friendly and helpful, he upgraded our car and even had the decency to come away from his desk to show me and my wife exactly how to find the location of the car park as we’d struggled to find it in our previous visit. I hire cars from airports at least 8 times per year and I have to say it was the best experience I’ve ever had for checking in. Zero queue! The hand back was also very straightforward and fast. We had a friendly lady who was also very efficient and the whole process was stress free. Will definitely be using EcoVia again.

The car I rented was faulty, or at least this is what the warning light on the display was telling me. I signalled the problem to the autovia service, who called the car assistance service. The car assistance took the car away for repair. I spoke and wrote to the customer care service: no reaction, and instead, one month later i received a request to pay 250 euros for the car assistance.
I am still waiting for the customer care to come back to me. It is virtually impossible to get hold of that service on the phone, so i can only hope to receive a reply to my messages.
Never again!!!!!
