I hired a car from Perugia airport for my holiday last week. There was no queue - the Opel Mokka was a delight to drive and all went smoothly. I did have to park in a space for a different car hire company when I dropped it back, as the two spaces for Autovia were full, but I explained why and was allowed to leave it there. No complaints at all.

I’d actually give this company zero stars if I could.
Requested a Seat Ibiza but got a battered Fiat 500 from perugia airport - we were given a printout showing damage to the passenger side and rear of the car. However we took a video prior to driving it away. We had no incidents with the car. And returned it in the same condition, A number of weeks later we were advised that we had caused additional damage to the passenger side and would be invoiced for cost of repairs. I provided video evidence showing the alleged damaged was already done however they still too money from my credit card.
The fact that there was existing damage (which looked quite old) should have made me request another car. I suspect that this company claim for repairs and don’t in fact get the car repaired and then charge the next renter ……. And so on.
UPDATE:
After many emails and re sending of video evidence, Autovia eventually acknowledged that the damage was pre-existing to my hire and refunded the amount taken from my card. Whilst collecting and dropping off the car was good, the post rental experience was not. I’ll not be using Holiday extras to book a budget rental again.

Huge fee!
I didn't get the car I ordered. I appreciate this happens. However, the GR car I was given is a large car with very limited power to get up hills. Of which there were/are many.
I then needed to extend the booking for a further two weeks and was quoted 1,800 eruros. I huge amount of money. I did not take this quote and went to another car rental company who gave me a car for MUCH lower.

Car ready, fast check in, friendly staff. Car clean and full of fuel. Lots of previous damage.

The car we picked up from Autovia at 9.30pm at Perugia airport had a serious and dangerous steering problem, probably from the tracking, which only became apparent in severe vibrations once we were on the motorway travelling at 65km per hour (a comparatively low speed). At this time of night and on a fast one-way road it was impossible to stop, report the problem, or return. I did so when we reached our destination, and reported the issue to the Perugia office. They gave me two options - return the car or take it to a local garage. The first was not desirable, given the state of the car and the disruption to our short holiday. The second was not possible, due to the delay before the local garage could carry out any work. After a series of emails back and forth to Autovia, they declined any responsibility to make a refund or give compensation, citing the terms of the hire agreement, which as I say were not feasible in the circumstances.
Never again. On the second day of a five-day rental, I called to find out how much a one-day extension would cost. Despite being assured the same daily rate would apply, when I returned the car I was charged, for one extra day, more than the entire five-day rental. Sadly their policy is dishonesty wherever they can get away with it. Be warned. Also, bring your own windshield fluid, I guess that costs extra as well [per squirt perhaps?]. Awful.
The Autovia vehicle broke down on day one of the hire. Autovia did not answer calls and ignored emails for three days.
I had the vehicle removed by Autovia's roadside assistance service.
I returned by taxi to the hire point at Perugia Airport at a cost of 250 Euros at the end of the five day rental.
The Autovia hire desk at Perugia Airport declined any refund of the hire fee or taxi fare.
I will be pursuing the matter further.
Mis sold car size !,had to pay another 90 euro to get one a little bigger !still not correct .
The representative at Perugia airport was very helpful, both when collecting and returning the car.
However, what was disappointing was that the tank was not full on collection which breaches the terms of "collect full return full". I returned the car full and did e-mail the company on the day I collected about the tank not being full but got no response. Ultimately this resulted in additional cost to me.
