Dismal experience from LGW to Rhodes on…

Dismal experience from LGW to Rhodes on BA2604 operated by Avion Express. Filthy ex-Wizz Air 15 year old aircraft (9H-MLR), with dirt encrusted toilets and headrests. I had the pleasure of row 1 and dangling wires from the overhead panel greeted me mid-flight. Legroom is almost non-existent, seats are old, lumpy and uncomfortable. The plane was 90 minutes late to take off, absolutely zero announcement from the pilot, let alone apology for the late departure. British Airways would do better to dissociate themselves from this type of 3rd party carrier as having paid for a sub-par business class offering this can do nothing but harm their reputation. Staff on the business class cabin served drinks and food 2hrs into a 4hr flight, were arrogant and unhelpful. 2 red wine options on the menu card which was handed to me prior to take off; Primitivo & Malbec, neither were available (only Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon). Seated in Row 1, my first choice of meal (Ploughmans - again on menu card) was 'not available'. Why hand out menu cards if nothing is available???
When I asked for wine with my meal the response was 'We are coming later with drinks' to which I replied ' No, I would like wine WITH my meal' and was greeted with a grunt and a mini-bottle almost thrown at me. The person in the row behind was given the same treatment when asked for wine with her meal. Dare not ask for another drink in flight 'What? You want ANOTHER one?' is NOT the level of service one expects for this price. Avoid this operator AT ALL COSTS. Almost every passenger in the business class section of this flight was disgruntled, horrible service from start to finish, not value for money, disgusting aircraft, awful staff.

AVION - A total let down from the moment we…

A total let down from the moment we boarded. Firstly we were disappointed not to be boarding a BA plane without warning. Then upon boarding the crew stood chatting amongst themselves, No welcome greeting as passengers boarded. The seats were uncomfortable, absolutely NO legroom (and I am only 5ft 4in) and in bad state of repair. In-Flight service was slow, again the crew were unfriendly, rude, even sighed and tutted when challenged asthe items they handed me were not what we had ordered - probably because he was too busy chatting to his colleague than paying any attention to the passengers. We enquired about duty free, told bluntly NO they don`t carry any - we were not made aware of this by BA prior to flying. There was literally no interaction between crew and passenger for the entire flight, well unless you count them standing around at the rear of the plane talking amongst themselves that is! There were no in-flight announcements by crew or captain other than the standard notices telling crew to take their position for landing. The AVION crew were the worst I have ever encountered, so much so that if I am advised by BA in the future that I will be on one of the AVION flights I will most certainly be choosing another carrier!

Absolute abysmal

Absolute abysmal How on earth BA use them is beyond my understanding. The Club experience was zero. No legroom, no champagne, no ice, no service, no safety checks before landing etc. I will never travel Avion again. Particularly annoyed I wasn’t informed it wasn’t a BA plane and crew.

surprisingly not bad

Flew with BA to and from Tenerife with Avion express flying us out and BA returning us. To be honest, the flight out was much more comfortable than the return home on the BA flight. Our BA plane was old with weak air conditioning and little leg room, the avion express plane had marginally more leg room and a more experienced team.

I was prepared for a hellish time on the flight out with avion and it simply was not the case, I would say that business class was just the same as economy with a food and drink compliment and the middle seat not sold.

Ended up on this substituted carrier… AWFUL AIRLINE AND CREW

Ended up on this substituted carrier via Ba. Awful experience and nothing like a Ba experience which they profess.
Three hours late. Hours late to board with no information or support on the ground. Then ended up another 1’5 hours on the tarmac at 2am.

The cabin is old and seats uncomfortable. The drinks and food was nothing like Ba service.
The crew were not Ba standard. At the announcement of the 1’5 on the tarmac pulling misery faces and saying he just wanted to go to bed (not alone mate!).
The main crew manager lady was miserable and so rude to people. No customer service at all. Crew just stood in galley chattingmaking themselves cups of tea whilst passengers not allowed anything. Tutting and huffing when asked anything and talking to her colleagues and slamming phone down. Rude to passengers who understandably needed the toilet and started refusing them access at one point.

Absolutely disgusted about the way we treated...

Absolutely disgusted about the way we were treated by the cabin crew from Dalaman to London Gatwick. We were rudely greeted by the cabin crew staff & was aggressively forced to put our cabin hand luggage under our seats. I went to put my large rucksack into the overhead locker as there was plenty of space however the only male cabin crew attended on the flight pulled my bag from my hands aggressively and proceeded to shout at me infront of the other passengers with an abundance of attitude for no reason. He proceeded to use the words of "You get what you pay for" implying that as we have paid for Economy it is acceptable to talk to us & treat us like dirt. Other people around me even said to me how disgusting his attitude was & it was completely unacceptable. He proceeded to complain about the amount of hours he was working and threatened to get myself and my brother removed from the flight for absolutely no reason which was purely a power play from his side as we couldn't say anything to that as we wanted to get home.

At the end of the flight I asked the only male cabin crew for his name to which he refused and said he did not care if we complained about him. We also asked the main in flight attendant for assistance in dealing with this matter who responded she couldn't get involved.

We booked to fly with British Airways however both flights were chartered by Avion Express. The leg room, standard of the flight & cabin crew were drastically poor. The toilets were kept locked as the seat belt sign was switched on for 90% of the flight and the cabin crew was refusing passengers to use the toilet even at their own risk and was getting very aggressive. Furthermore, only 2 announcements were made throughout the whole flight both on take off & landing which were mumbled and not understandable.

Our experience was completely unacceptable from start to finish and I expect there to be actions taken against the male flight attended for the inconvenience and abuse we have received during this journey as well as being conned by British Airways for being told Avion Express has the same standard as BA which was incorrect information

AVOID AVION EXPRESS

Booked with BA to fly to Malaga on 8th September. New in advance would be operated by Avion Express but promised by BA would experience full BA service. Far from it, legroom was awful, could not sit straight in seat, lot of moaning going on about bad legroom. Took one and half hours for water service to reach us as crew serving water also selling coffee, drinks, food etc. Only announcements from cockpit were on take off. Never heard again until seat belt signs switched on prior to landing, so no warning re use of toilets etc. No duty free on board which is normal for Avion but not told in advance. Avoid using this Airline. Wished I had changed when advised by BA was being Chartered out.

Probably one of the most uncomfortable…

Probably one of the most uncomfortable aircraft I've ever had the misfortune of flying on.
The seats, which I presume once belonged to Wizz Air are diabolically uncomfortable, with atrocious legroom and just generally shabby.
Was somewhat conned by TUI as they're currently chartering aircraft from Avion Express.
Thankfully, the TUI crew were fantastic, but the aircraft leaves a lot to be desired.

Do not fly on Avion

Omg we will never use Avion Express again we have been absolutely conned by BA told we have the same standard as BA BY BA and that was incorrect information
Proceedings will start with BA for the compensation back to us for false advertising as I am not paying out for Club standard and getting nothing
If only we had looked at these reviews before we flew to Malta
It was the dirtiest filthiest plane I have ever flown on
The staff are rude and don’t speak English
The average age of a plane is 15 years old and sound like they are not going to get off the ground
We have been seriously let down by BA may think they are cute trying pull the wool over our eyes however inaccurate marketing of a product is illegal and taking money is a bad mistake BA

Worst flight no leg room

Worst flight. I’m 5’10” and medium build so nothing unusual but really struggled with no leg room for the 3 hour flight from Malta. Others on the flight ( taller or larger people) had a much harder time. This was a supposedly a BA flight and not the standard I would expect. Business class had the same amount of leg room from what I could see. I will be cautious about flying BA again if they off load their flights to Avion express

Rickety old plane and aggressive crew

Was put on this plane as a return leg of a BA trip from Mahon. Firstly do not waste your money upgrading unless you just want the same cramped seat as economy but just no-one in the middle. Shabby old plane from both the outside (just plain white) and inside. Really cramped legroom, armrests broken, seat in front creaked back as though reclining when it wasn't. If that isn't bad enough our cabin crew were awful. Grumpy, rude and verging on aggressive style. Not one of them smiled and spoke to us as if were on a con air flight. I will be complaining separately to BA.

An Inhuman amount of seat space

An Inhuman amount of seat space. I have never been on a plane with such little leg room. I'd been given a widow seat, which I could not possible fit in the space given. my knees pushing me into the seat in front and my back wedged against the seat. I had to be moved isle seat so could move legs . I'm 6 foot, not of large build or unusual. You could hear people all around commenting about the same thing and getting frustrated. Maybe an hour flight but not 4.5 hours from Antalya. No ice all drinks were warm it was disgusting. Why BA charter this company I have no idea. We had a great flight out with them on the same type of plane. You don't do yourself any favors with Aviaon. Trust Pilot please allow us to give no stars. This would be the case here!

My advice to anyone is avoid BA like the plague whilst they are putting passengers on this airline... Worst service I've ever had in 35 years of flying..Took 2 & half hours to reach the back of plane with drinks trolley,only to be told most things had sold out & no ice left ... Worst leg room than any other airlines also.

contender for the worst airliner of all time

date of flights: 18/08/23 and 26/08/23 (delayed from 25/08/23)
this may be the worst airliner i've ever flown with for so many reasons. i only had to fly with them because tui gave them the weekly flights between london gatwick and herakilon in crete and the experience just got worse with each flight.
ok, i will start with the flights themselves, which are pretty rocky and cramped, with there being zero legroom, constant heat and the planes themselves clearly being very old. if that were the end of it, i would say 2 stars because you can somewhat get used to this.
however, they are TERRIBLE with actually being on time. you will be lucky to get your flight delayed by just a single hour because you will usually be waiting almost an extra THREE HOURS for these crappy aircraft to depart.
my experience with this company via tui has convinced me to intentionally avoid tui, which is unfortunate because tui's own airline is pretty decent. however, i can't let myself get screwed over again by this terrible substitute.
tldr: if this airliner is substituting for your intended airliner of choice, get ready for a bad experience at best and nightmarish one at worst.

Our Tui flight was changed to a Avion…

Our Tui flight was changed to a Avion express flight on an old noisy plane from Gatwick to Arrecife,sat on the stand as the plane had a software problem on the return flight.there is no legroom on these planes with no neck support. You charge enough tui and don't give a dam about your customers. If I ever get told my flight is being changed to this carrier I will cancel my booking and make a claim to get my money back .flights on 3rd August 23 and 17th August 23

Not BA however staff were very friendly and helpful during a very bumpy and turbulent flight when passengers were feeling unwell etc. pilot had brilliant communication with the cabin about the turbulence and that was brilliant. Staff get a 5/5 however the cabin itself was unfortunately dated. No recline and very little legroom I struggled at 5 feet 10 so anyone taller would most certainly need extra legroom seats. Was it the plane BA, no but the service was of BA standard.

Old plane and unfriendly staff

The most uncomfortable seats on an old plane and the most utterly miserable staff. BA use them when they’ve overbooked and transfer you to this carrier as I can’t think why anyone would choose to use Avion otherwise

Not BA but a very poor alternative

Flew back from Faro to Gatwick; wasn't made aware that flight was being operated by Avion Express instead of BA. On check in I was offered an upgrade to Club for 130 euros. Thankfully I didnt go for it. Plane was old, noisy, hot, more seats crammed in than any cheapo no frills airline so zero leg room. Also dirty. Sat on the tarmac for over an hour whilst the crew chatted in the galley. No updates from flight deck during the flight. It was awful. Didnt feel safe, landing was dreadful. Will not travel with them again.

BA cheats by using this sub-standard company

I'm a regular BA flyer (silver member). Like many of us, this Summer I have had the misfortune of flying with aircrafts from this company, which BA's subsidiary BA-flyer uses for mane Gatwick routes in the Summer.

The short of it is that the is service is absolutely not up to the standards one expects when booking a BA flight.

Staff are poorly trained and obviously inexperienced, sometimes hapless (god knows what would happen in an emergency). Cleanliness and logistics leave much to be desired. Procedures on board are annoying and irritating, enforced brutally and with zero communication skills.
