Don't expect a reply from emails
I booked a lodge at Tattershall Lakes for me, my elderly mum, my daughter, son in law and grandson and paid for and received my entertainment passes (£150 for 5 of us), these were sent to me by the owner of the lodge we were staying in and I promptly downloaded them to my phone, which is where my problems began. My phone broke and I could no longer access the passes so on the 16th of July (20 days before my holiday) I emailed guestpasses
at awayresorts to ask what I should do, I received no reply, I then emailed the owner of the lodge who said he would look into this for me and there began a back and forth of emails with suggestions of what I should do, none of which worked, so I again emailed guestpasses at awayresorts and again received no reply, I then rang the Away Resorts 0330 number who told me that they couldn't deal with this but to email contactcentre at awayresorts who would get this sorted for me which i immediately did, again I received no reply, this was now one week before my holiday began my anxiety and blood pressure was through the roof and I was beginning to panic about how I was going to explain to my 8 year old grandson that he couldn't go to any of the activities we had paid for. As a last resort I then emailed enquiries at Away resorts but alas I received no reply. The only recourse left to me was to wait until I arrived and speak to someone at guest services. I must admit I was now gearing myself up for an argument with whoever had the misfortune of dealing with me but I was passed to a lovely lady called Cheryl who after listening to my sorry story immediately wrote out some guest passes for me.. The service from Away resorts was appalling with no replies to any of my numerous emails before my holiday began however the service I received from the wonderful Cheryl at Tattershall was fabulous ...Thank you Cheryl ..this would have been a 1 star review if not for her
DO NOT RECOMMMEND! POOR SERVICE! RUINED OUR HOLIDAY.
Our visit this year was our 3rd trip to Sandyballs. We have previously had 2 wonderful holidays there, always booking the next before we leave. Unfortunately it will be our last visit and we will not be returning. On the day of arrival, whilst travelling to the site, we received a phone call to tell us our accommodation was no longer available and to turn around and go home. They informed us they would not be able to house us for that night and in fact the whole week. This was after the 2.30pm check-in time and we were less than an hour away. Our 5 year old was distraught hearing this conversation as he had been looking forward to the trip all year. We told guest services during this call that we would still be arriving so that we could have a break from our 2 hour 30min drive and figure out what to do with our holiday. I will note there were no apologies and no explanation why were being told our holiday was cancelled. It was then 15mins later they called again to say they had found alternative accommodation but it was not as good as what we had booked.
On arrival we spoke with the same lady that had called us. I am not sure if she has had customer service training. Her manner was very rude and it we were told like it or lump it with regards to the alternative accommodation. Again no apologies, it quite literally said either we take the alternative or go home and have a refund. I asked if it was the same price as what we had booked and was told it was the same grade but no further explanation that that. If her manner regarding the situation was polite and helpful all the unnecessary stress would have been avoided. Especially if they could have found the alternative accommodation before the first call. Clearly all options had not been exhausted before they contacted us. They ask you to suggest a hero of your holiday and she was far from that. If only we could put down a villain as I would certainly put her forward for that award.
We spent a lot of money on this holiday. One party member is going through treatment for cancer. It was meant to be a time we could have a break from daily life and be looked after. Time had been booked off work and we had booked our other pets into boarding. We were made to feel as though we should be grateful for the alternative accommodation. We were on edge the whole time wondering if we would be asked to move on. During our stay they sent two representatives of a decking company out to measure for new decking. This we were not informed about, and one of the companies took pictures of the decking whilst we were trying to relax in the hot tub. Where we were staying was a place they were selling, which we had be informed about. We were not told that we would have to host agents coming out to price up repair work.
During the stay we were never checked on to see if we were happy with the accommodation. The only options we were given was alternative accommodation or refund. There was no suggestion we could transfer of dates or to another have the same accommodation at a different Away Resorts. Nothing offered as an apology. We did go into guest services to raise the issue and have been told we will get a call from a manager. This was 4 days ago, and we are now home from our holiday still waiting for a response.
The location of our replacement was on the main road through, not ideal for a 5 year old or 2 dogs. There was rubbish all along the front of the accommodation. We had less bathroom facilities than the accommodation we had booked. The alternative accommodation had a bath but no plug, this was raised, and new plugs were ordered but not in time for our holiday. The family is 3 adults and one child, so all having to share a shower where in the accommodation we had booked had 3, took it's time for us all to get ready in the morning. If it was the same grade, it certainly was not in the same location as we had previously been. Other touches like a doggie welcome back that we have had previously were not received.
It is such a shame as we loved this place and it where we have made lovely memories from our previous visits. This years has been tainted by the start. What I find most sad is that we have been loyal customers, and this year's holiday was booked for over a year and paid in full before we arrived. We were not treated well and given a service anyone would expect. Honestly take your money elsewhere, spend it were the people are nicer and you are guaranteed the holiday you have booked!
Lovely site but inadequate information on wheelchair accessibility of facilities
Spent a week at The Lakes in Rookley IOW as they had wheelchair accessible accommodation. The site was beautiful, the accommodation excellent BUT neither pool had a hoist so was inaccessible to wheelchair users. This was not noted on the website which was very disappointing. It is never easy booking holidays for wheelchair users and sadly we didn’t feel the company or staff really understood the importance of giving clear information on accessibility. A feedback review making suggestions to this effect has so far not been acknowledged. We were offered a voucher for the bar as compensation but were unable to use the restaurant as it had to be closed down in the night we booked .

We have stayed at Tattershall Lakes a few times now and never had any issue. However we stayed around 3 weeks ago and our 'luxury' Tribeca accommodation was very tired, dated and in need of a full refurbishment. Having paid £500 for two nights it was of a poor standard. In addition there was a razor left in the shower that my 2 year old son picked up and a window that didnt lock at all. I politely complained and a guy on reception said they would look into it and be in touch, no one contacted me. Then when I checked out I mentioned this, they said the man I had spoken to wasnt in but he would be in touch, he still didnt contact me. I complained via email 2 weeks ago, they promised to be in touch within 14 days - still no call or response. Really poor and I wont be holidaying with away resorts again.
What a horrendous stay we had
What a horrendous stay we had
What a horrendous stay we had! We were met on arrival by a Security guy who was blatantly rude. Our caravan was absolutely filthy inside and outside. Every time we tried to use more than one appliance it blew our electrics. A guy from Guest Services came over and showed my husband how to switch them back on which we had to do for the 2 days we were there! The drinks and food were extortionate and the food was just edible! The restaurant was filthy with food and drink spilt all over the floor, chairs and tables so nowhere clean to sit. The shop prices are ridiculous for the simplest of items. When I complained at Guest Services I was just told to write to an email address! Having sent an email on my return I received a response from the Manager saying they would speak to the cleaners!! I followed it up stating this wasn’t acceptable following the amount of money it had cost us for a caravan for two nights….no response received!
As a family we had booked 3 accommodations to celebrate a family members 60th birthday which was certainly spoilt for us. Very disappointing response when we had spent so much money. Never to return again and would certainly not recommend.
We stayed at Tattershall lakes for the…
We stayed at Tattershall lakes for the Rock The Lakes weekend. We were really looking forward to it as we had heard such good things. Our party included three disabled people but as they had a disabled section we thought that isn’t an issue as they’ve made provision for this. The first obstacle we had was the lack of notice for changing the entrances. Security actually opened the door and said we had to go to the other entrance and refused to let us in; now that is not a problem for me as I’m on a mobility scooter but for one of our disabled people who has a crumbling spine this is not great at all. We then realised we had forgotten our disability wrist bands which had been issued so asked at reception if it’s possible to have them replaced; they refused so we had to go all the way back to where we were staying which was the furthest area away from the reception. I do understand that forgetting our wrist bands is not their fault but they did say they could replace them if needed when we collected them so we didn’t think it would be any trouble.
After getting through the crowds of people, tackling the disabled lifts and doors that do not open by themselves we found the disabled area. It was good viewing and there was a bar close by, for the toilets you had to tackle the lifts or take the stairs, however the disabled toilets were being used as a males toilet due to the men’s being out of use.
On the first evening we had owners of caravans/lodges causing problems as they had not made provision and wanted to be where we were, the hired security were great but couldn’t stop these owners from filming us. One particular owner created so much Away Resorts shortened the disabled area so they could get in too. We felt really intimidated.
I rang the reception the next morning to make them aware and was very hopeful they would talk to these owners when they came in that day with their videos to say this was not acceptable behaviour but I was wrong; “thank you for making us aware that our owners are not happy, we will have to relook at this”. After that I was very anxious how the second day was going to go as it had not been just one owner, there had been five or six. We arrived at the area to find we had been moved into the corner where you cannot see the stage properly or the screens; this was very upsetting. We were all amazed that people could be treated this way. We even had two of the owners from the night before point and laugh. When we complained to the manager we were told they would try and move us across a bit but later on; this never happened.
Day three
The area remained where it was in the corner and out of the way so everyone else could have a wonderful time. The hired security were no longer there either.
The times of the entertainment were altered to what was on the itinerary so we missed part of one of the acts.
On leaving we planned to go to an undercover area and have a seat to breakup the walk only to get to the gate and be told (Away Resorts Security) it is closed and had to go to the main entrance; now this may seem like a minor thing but it would take a fully able person ten minutes to walk this. We tried to appeal to their sense of humanity but there wasn’t any. By the time we got to the main entrance the person with a crumbling spine was in so much pain. She complained again to the security guard (Away Resorts security); he was not fazed at all, however on leaving the entrance the security person mocked the disabled person to an owner (we know this by their conversation) laughing at us and the discomfort they had caused.
Food left a lot to be desired. The ribeye steak one had gristle throughout it and the other had two massive lumps of fat (1/4 of the steak was fat) the rump steak came out burnt, dry and lukewarm, none of the chips ever came out hot. Everything else was passable e.g burgers, pizza. We all ate separately as none of them came out together.
I have to say I have never come across a holiday park so blatantly disablist in my life. Previously I had been looking at other Away Resort holidays but I will never go again to any of them.
I am an owner on a different holiday park and the other owners there would never treat me or other disabled people the way we were treated. I have never come across so many entitled, selfish people all in one place as I did here. If you or your party are disabled stay away. If you have any morals stay away. This place is not good. The wildlife and dogs were treated better than we were.
Beware, caravan falsely advertised
I would like to start with the only positives, which are the entertainment staff, they are brilliant! Can not fault them at all. I am still currently in Tattershall Lakes site. I am laying in the 'not so comfortable' double bed with springs digging in my spine as I write this review. I NEVER leave negative reviews, but I am disappointed with the caravan.
We have booked a superior caravan because we thought we would upgrade from our usual caravan choice, a getaway somewhere different to celebrate my husbands cancer shrinking, and I feel like we have been downgraded.. there's no logic in it at all.
The decking is dangerous, it's detached from its stands underneath, right outside the door. I reported this via the app, and I will say that they are speedy at coming out to the caravan to help in that sense, the repair man came and fixed it, literally 1 hour later, the kids stepped out onto the decking and 'bang' it moved again!
The caravan looks nothing at all like the one advertised, which is why we booked it. It's not even remotely the same grade that's shown. Infact, I would go as far as saying this is a pre owned that the company has taken over because its just nothing like the other caravans. Completely different. The cushions on the sofa are torn, every single one! The carpet is stained, there's a musty smell in here at all times. There is an old outdated, dirty brown dining table with 4 chairs, one of which is broken. There's cobwebs and spiders absolutely everywhere. There's a brown substance on the bedroom curtain, which we can't figure out whether it is poo, dried blood or chocolate, and I don't intend on getting close enough to find out.
I complained via the app and the staff responded quickly enough and turned up at the caravan to see if they could rectify anything, but I was told they're unsure what the caravan grade was. I assured her that it's definitely not superior, or even comfort..
I have been advised to go to the guest services in the morning and see what can be done.
This is our 3rd night here, (myself, my husband and our 3 young children and our dog) we have spent enough to pay for an ACTUAL superior caravan for the week. The activities are way overpriced for what they are! Prepare to break the bank if you have more than 1 child.
I got a bag of haribo and a pink gin and tonic and it totalled to £15!!... just saying!!
We also are yet to recieve our dogs goody bag, which we were told was included in the price we paid for her to stay in the caravan.

4 nights at Tattershall lakes 😒😪
Just recently spent 4 nights in a superior lodge, there were 6 adults, 16yr old and an 18 month.
There was nonsense of pillowcase for the sofa, I asked twice for sheets, when they came it was just one sheet.
Mus matched pots and pans. The floor was sunken in quite a few places. Yhe mattresses were old, don't with springs. The hot tub was sloping on the decking and yhe control panel was hanging off. July is high season and half the experiences were not open everyday, you couldn't get in to the indoor pool, always booked or only a couple of spaces available throughout the day and 45mins only allowed in the lido. No evening entertainment only bingo. The seating in bar 49 had cigarette burns and ripped fabric. Unfortunately we won't be returning 😕
Standards are slipping yet again
As a regular visitor to Tattershall lakes this is the second time they have fell short .
Booked in given key to caravan to find out it's not even been cleaned, dirty dishes, dirty see decking and carpets and bedding not changed .
You really need to up you game away resorts simpley not good enough.
Absolute dump
Absolute dump. Teenagers partying all night, so don't expect sleep. Beer overpriced and food disgusting. Worst experience ever. Also, DO NOT BUY A CARAVAN FROM THESE CROOKS
Tattershall lakes, Disappointed Start
Arrived at Tattershall Lakes today and unfortunately, the experience so far has been a let-down. We were advised to turn up before our 4pm check-in as the caravan might be ready early – only to be told bluntly by the lady on the desk that early check-in isn’t a thing and it’s strictly 4pm unless you pay extra. I completely understand set check-in times, but giving people mixed messages isn’t great, especially when you're travelling with a dog and planning around it.
While we waited, we went for some food. There were only about six tables occupied, yet it took over 40 minutes for a basic lunch wrap to arrive. On top of that, the furniture in the venue was old and uncomfortable – not what you'd expect from somewhere that’s marketed as a premium UK break.
I'm genuinely disappointed, especially as this park is fairly local to me (under 2 hours away) and I’ve heard so many glowing reviews. I’ve only been here for an hour, and already feel let down. I’m really hoping things turn around and they live up to the hype – but right now, it’s not looking good.
love site and have been coming for…
We love site and have been coming for several years and used budget caravans with we liked until we upgraded to the Shadow wood. It's was beautiful spotlessly clean with touches of luxery such as the free standing bath in master bedroom. We loved it so much we booked it again for this year only we were surprised on arrival to have been allocated a totally different model. Still a shadow wood but much smaller I would say the spec is not as high an this caravan shows signs of wear, stains on the rug kitchen utensils missing. I have called reception and asked why we are in a completely diffent van and was told allocation is random unless we stipulate what dont or do want. I found it rather odd. I had so looked forward to staying in the accomodation i had expected. All sounds odd to me. Will come here again and again but this is not we expected.
1 star — Extremely disappointing experience with Away Resorts (Barmouth Bay)
My 76-year-old mother booked a holiday at Barmouth Bay (an Away Resorts park) last April for a holiday in August 2024, looking forward to a relaxing break. Unfortunately, what followed was a frustrating and stressful experience that we’re still not over.
When she booked through Booking.com, she unknowingly paid £700 more than if she’d booked directly. Once she realised this, she was told that since she had paid in full, no refund was possible. However, someone at Away Resorts advised us to appeal the decision, which we did — and a refund was agreed.
With that reassurance, my mother even booked another holiday directly through Away Resorts, trusting the refund from the previous booking would follow.
That was over 12 months ago.
Despite countless emails and family members trying to follow up, communication was appalling. When we finally managed to speak to someone, they refused to speak to anyone except my elderly mother, which made chasing this even harder. After more persistence, we were told the refund could be issued — if Away Resorts authorised it.
We thought the end was in sight — but then Away Resorts simply declined to authorise the refund they had originally encouraged us to pursue.
The whole situation feels incredibly dishonest. They advised the appeal, acknowledged the overpayment, agreed to a refund, then dragged it out for months only to refuse in the end. It’s left a bad taste, and we will not be booking with Away Resorts again.
Wet Carpet
I have previously stayed at Whitecliff Bay and Nodes Point IOW. All has been good, no complaints. However on this occasion, at Whitecliff Bay the carpet in the caravan bedroom, next to the kitchen was wet and soggy. On the second day, I discovered there was a leak from the kitchen sink U-bend, which I tighten and fixed. The shelfs and the table mats under the sink were sodden, which I cleaned and dried. Reported it and the maintenance guys looked at it. I put newspaper down on the carpet to soak up the wet. In hindsight I should have requested a move to a new caravan, which I would have done, if I'd been staying longer than a weekend. The carpet and table mats smelt musty, so I don't believe it was a new leak. Maybe previous occupants didn't report it? Although the Cleaner should have noticed it, assuming it was cleaned properly. Previously there has been a welcome card confirming it has been cleaned, but not this time. I hope since our visit they have replaced or cleaned the carpet.
A small suggestion, a manual for the microwave would have been handy, rather than spending time trying to work out it's multiple functions.
Beach fun
We have just returned home from another relaxing weekend at Barmouth Bay. All the statics we have stayed in are spotless and extremely comfortable. They are equipped with everything you could possibly need for self catering or if you dont want to cook amazing restaurants are near by. For the families with a precious dog, like we have, there is beach 2 mins away. There is also a brilliant welcome pack waiting for your furry friend. We can't wait to return and make more memories. The staff are all amazing too.

Starting with poor service to poor standards
Given a envolope at reception told all details inside and have to book swimming if we wanted to hardly a hello or a welcome i and out of chck in in around 3 minutes.
Pulled up to our luxery caravan ripped curtains can be seen from outside to a bedroom
Get inside a awful drain smell figured may be because closed up and not aired open all doors and windows and run water in bathrooms and kitchen in case stagnent water in pipes.
Both showers have mold inside.
Master shower head makes screeching noise when being ised hardlybworks and falls down. Water does not drain away and flows over.
Other bathroom seems to be where smell comes from again mouldy shower have to keep shower cubicle door closed and bathroom door clsed and window open in there to try to contain smell
Master bedroom bed squeaks just turning over springs all gone can be heard even if in front room you turn over at night and wakes both parties up.feels like a run down caraban trying to be rented put as alot more
All.in all would NOT stay here or rcommend away resorts and we have used them before

Eastfleet farm touring park near Weymouth
An excellent, immaculately maintained site in a beautiful rural setting but also close to local amenities. Great walks especially along the Fleet lagoon make this a good base to stay with bus services only 10 to 15 mins walk. Onsite pub is a bonus as it was well attended by site campers, but we found the drinks prices quite costly. The amenities were immaculate and plentiful. This is a very good place to stay and we found the site fees well priced, we will return.
A dirty hovel - AVOID
We are a repeat customer having stayed at Whitecliff Bay in the Isle of Wight in 2022. We booked a '6 Berth Superior Chalet with Hot Tub'. The word Superior is grossly misused with absolutely NOTHING superior about it.
As a 6 Berth, I assumed that it would be adequate for a family of 4 with two adults and two young children. The facilities for a family of 4 are laughable, let alone 6. For starters, there are only 3 teaspoons. Even something trivial like a family of 4x eating yogurt together becomes impossible.
First impressions: You walk directly into the bedroom from the front door. I say 'walk in' - that's of course after you've removed the soiled bedding and towels from the last visitors that the cleaning team couldn't be bothered to remove.
After admiring the grafitti scrawled all over the table, you're then greeted with a deceptively reverse-tardis fridge-freezer. It looks small on the outside, but that's nothing to the indescribably tiny dimensions on the inside. Again, these are 'Superior' facilities for a '6 berth' chalet. As a family of 4, we could barely fit enough food and drink for a single meal, let alone a week of self catering. The fridge freezer is completely unusable anyway - until of course you've cleaned of the rancid stench and crust of the milk that the last residents had spilled inside.
After cleaning the fridge freezer, we attempted to put in our groceries. Pizzas do not fit with their cardboard, a 4-pint of milk cannot be stood up, and if you're not a world champion at Tetris, prepare to be thoroughly perplexed and disappointed.
Items inside the fridge will eventually freeze, meanwhile the freezer itself keeps your items thoroughly defrosted and room temperature. Lovely. We only discovered this on the last morning since we'd left a bottle of coke unopened in the fridge that was partially frozen, meanwhile the milk-bottle we'd filled with water (to turn to ice) overnight along with two packs of bacon (in order to survive the journey home) were warm and wet. In the bin £5 of bacon went.
I know what you're thinking ... 'that's really surprising as that well known luxury polish brand of refrigeration equipment, Amica, are known for their spacious high-end white-goods'. Again, let's recap - this is a fridge-freezer placed in a 'Superior' chalet, to accommodate six persons.
Once you've gotten over the lack of cleanliness, and the lack of facilities or kitchen equipment, you can enjoy a relaxing bit of exhibitionism in the Hot Tub which has absolutely zero privacy. Great for families that like to engage in a bit of relaxing in public whilst strangers look on.
After a quick dip in the hot tub water (no doubt mixed with the detritus of the visitors from the last few weeks) you can treat yourself to a relaxing evening in 'The C...er'. i.e. 'The Culver' but several letters have fallen off over the last few years and the park is so run down nobody seems to care to replace them.
Once you get inside 'The C...er' you're treated to an array of delights such as a wonky projector screen image that I suspect hasn't been aligned for a few years, or perhaps pop to the 'arcade' where your children can learn first-hand the meaning of the phrases 'run down' and 'fleecing rip offs'. Many of the 2p arcade machines are so broken that you can literally watch your coin drop into the slot, miss the rails and fall flat down in front of where you deposited it. Moving to the next one along, a coin is jammed in it so hard that the machine is almost fused with it. Perhaps tokens are your thing and you want to win your child a 2p-lolly or penny chew. Whilst you might be relieved of up to 5pence for the two treats in a newsagents, the conversion rate in the arcade is 50 tokens per basic-brand multi-bag treat. For just £1 you can play a machine that lets you win tokens as prizes - we were lucky enough to win a whopping 10 tokens for our £1 which means that we could afford one 2p-lolly after just £5 worth of tokens. Having visited proper beach-front arcades the conversion seems to be 20 tokens for the same items, and more generous machines (that actually pay out tokens when you play them, unlike the broken machines at 'The C...er') you'll appreciate that Away Resorts / Whitecliff bay have setup a brilliant lesson for young children in economics and profit-first. Maintenance? Too expensive. Lollies for just £2 worth of tokens? not enough margin!
A disappointing stay, completely mis-sold, as a dirty-hovel with inadequate facilities. It literally cost us money in food wastage plus time and effort in having to clean our own accommodation.
If this review saves just one person booking a stay in this dump then my time writing it will not have been wasted.
AVOID - book a holiday here at your own peril. You have been warned!
