Just got back from mill rythe coastal village, nice break, but wanted to mention pool area, riddled with rust flooring covered in mould, flooring sticking up, definitely needs health and safety check... See more

Eastfleet farm touring park near Weymouth
An excellent, immaculately maintained site in a beautiful rural setting but also close to local amenities. Great walks especially along the Fleet lagoon make this a good base to stay with bus services only 10 to 15 mins walk. Onsite pub is a bonus as it was well attended by site campers, but we found the drinks prices quite costly. The amenities were immaculate and plentiful. This is a very good place to stay and we found the site fees well priced, we will return.
A dirty hovel - AVOID
We are a repeat customer having stayed at Whitecliff Bay in the Isle of Wight in 2022. We booked a '6 Berth Superior Chalet with Hot Tub'. The word Superior is grossly misused with absolutely NOTHING superior about it.
As a 6 Berth, I assumed that it would be adequate for a family of 4 with two adults and two young children. The facilities for a family of 4 are laughable, let alone 6. For starters, there are only 3 teaspoons. Even something trivial like a family of 4x eating yogurt together becomes impossible.
First impressions: You walk directly into the bedroom from the front door. I say 'walk in' - that's of course after you've removed the soiled bedding and towels from the last visitors that the cleaning team couldn't be bothered to remove.
After admiring the grafitti scrawled all over the table, you're then greeted with a deceptively reverse-tardis fridge-freezer. It looks small on the outside, but that's nothing to the indescribably tiny dimensions on the inside. Again, these are 'Superior' facilities for a '6 berth' chalet. As a family of 4, we could barely fit enough food and drink for a single meal, let alone a week of self catering. The fridge freezer is completely unusable anyway - until of course you've cleaned of the rancid stench and crust of the milk that the last residents had spilled inside.
After cleaning the fridge freezer, we attempted to put in our groceries. Pizzas do not fit with their cardboard, a 4-pint of milk cannot be stood up, and if you're not a world champion at Tetris, prepare to be thoroughly perplexed and disappointed.
Items inside the fridge will eventually freeze, meanwhile the freezer itself keeps your items thoroughly defrosted and room temperature. Lovely. We only discovered this on the last morning since we'd left a bottle of coke unopened in the fridge that was partially frozen, meanwhile the milk-bottle we'd filled with water (to turn to ice) overnight along with two packs of bacon (in order to survive the journey home) were warm and wet. In the bin £5 of bacon went.
I know what you're thinking ... 'that's really surprising as that well known luxury polish brand of refrigeration equipment, Amica, are known for their spacious high-end white-goods'. Again, let's recap - this is a fridge-freezer placed in a 'Superior' chalet, to accommodate six persons.
Once you've gotten over the lack of cleanliness, and the lack of facilities or kitchen equipment, you can enjoy a relaxing bit of exhibitionism in the Hot Tub which has absolutely zero privacy. Great for families that like to engage in a bit of relaxing in public whilst strangers look on.
After a quick dip in the hot tub water (no doubt mixed with the detritus of the visitors from the last few weeks) you can treat yourself to a relaxing evening in 'The C...er'. i.e. 'The Culver' but several letters have fallen off over the last few years and the park is so run down nobody seems to care to replace them.
Once you get inside 'The C...er' you're treated to an array of delights such as a wonky projector screen image that I suspect hasn't been aligned for a few years, or perhaps pop to the 'arcade' where your children can learn first-hand the meaning of the phrases 'run down' and 'fleecing rip offs'. Many of the 2p arcade machines are so broken that you can literally watch your coin drop into the slot, miss the rails and fall flat down in front of where you deposited it. Moving to the next one along, a coin is jammed in it so hard that the machine is almost fused with it. Perhaps tokens are your thing and you want to win your child a 2p-lolly or penny chew. Whilst you might be relieved of up to 5pence for the two treats in a newsagents, the conversion rate in the arcade is 50 tokens per basic-brand multi-bag treat. For just £1 you can play a machine that lets you win tokens as prizes - we were lucky enough to win a whopping 10 tokens for our £1 which means that we could afford one 2p-lolly after just £5 worth of tokens. Having visited proper beach-front arcades the conversion seems to be 20 tokens for the same items, and more generous machines (that actually pay out tokens when you play them, unlike the broken machines at 'The C...er') you'll appreciate that Away Resorts / Whitecliff bay have setup a brilliant lesson for young children in economics and profit-first. Maintenance? Too expensive. Lollies for just £2 worth of tokens? not enough margin!
A disappointing stay, completely mis-sold, as a dirty-hovel with inadequate facilities. It literally cost us money in food wastage plus time and effort in having to clean our own accommodation.
If this review saves just one person booking a stay in this dump then my time writing it will not have been wasted.
AVOID - book a holiday here at your own peril. You have been warned!
We asked Management to move us but they wouldn't accommodate
Jokers
So checked into a " comfort cottage" The Bay Filey( definitely was not that)...Was the worse dog friendly place iv stayed in. Checked out of the cottage a day early as didn't want to spend another night in there. On checking out was asked why we were leaving a day early, told the receptionist not happy with the state of it. She told me her manager would be I'm touch waited for the said contact never manifested so emailed. First time I emailed got an automated reply back to say ' the manger" was out of office until 3rd June will reply back. In this email it included my booking reference, photos of the " Comfort cottage" and the reason I wasn't happy...No reply until I re emailed to ask if anyone had bothered to read it. I then got a reply asking me what they wanted them to do! I emailed again saying have you read my original email,? I them recieved another email asking for my booking reference....So no one had bothered to read it ( the manager victoria) Now I have to wait another 14 days to be recontacted as it's now gone to another team.....Terrible avoid this company ( These were The Bay Filey) DONT GO

Just got back today 6/6/25 from Away Resorts Hayling Island.
Before we arrived we received a courtesy call from away resorts, I asked about their building works. The lady said we wouldn’t see or hear it - this isn’t so! You see it from when you enter the site (which is an eyesore) and you hear it from our lodge every day from before 8am!!!! Wasn’t the best courtesy call, she put the phone down on me before I could acknowledge her and offer my thanks.
Our lodge was very clean on arrival but lacked some basic kitchen equipment
Shortly after getting settled in we were troubled by a maintenance person- the oven switch was broken and the fridge shelf was cracked - would have been good practice to deal with these prior to guests arrival! Neither were fixed
The lodge we had was facing the nature reserve- great view but lodge placement doesn’t allow for much privacy from your neighbours so not great when wishing to use the hot tub. Topped with the building works noise, it didn’t allow for a relaxing few days away.
We ate twice on site - restaurant was never busy but service was very slow and 5 separate items we asked for they never had.
There’s better resorts out there
I would never go away with the away…
I would never go away with the away resorts again.
We're currently on our way back from a 4 day trip for my husband's birthday. We stayed at tattershall lakes country park. We were all so excited to enjoy the facilities.
We booked the 8 berth hot tub lodge. "The glade"
It was so dusty and dirty it set my families allergies off. We asked to be moved as we payed £1000 to stay in a run down old shed. I will add I have a newborn baby and I really wanted to change accommodations as he was sneezing and coughing in the dust.
They had nothing left and did offer us a refund of £350 which really wasn't enough considering we spent the most of my husband's birthday trying to sort out the accommodation.
I payed extra money for a travel cot for my baby that was so filthy and soiled he couldn't sleep in it.
It smelled like the toilet was leaking poo. The house stunk.
The worktops where sticky and cooker had food all over it. We also where not informed we needed to pay extra for towels. So when we'd been in the hot tub we had to dry ourselves on bath mats.
Your also Conned into thinking you can just use the pool and the fun activities but you have to book. If you don't book you have to just que and turn up and hope they have space.
The jet ski prices are ridiculous. And only for 15 minutes.
We waited an hour and half for breakfast in the bar.
The 49 bar started out lovely until the music suddenly went louder and louder and I had to leave because the baby became really unsettled.
We literally cannot wait to get home after this trip. And of course it's my first trip with a newborn and it's really put me off with our experience.
It could have been so much better. For the money we payed. If we had been moved to another accommodation it would have been ok but the house we stayed in was just gross. Cob webs everywhere. Filthy.
If you do book this place I'd advice booking private with people who own their caravan. Because the hoseasons and away resorts are just not well kept. We had stains on the bedding and all kinds.
But for me I'm put off UK holidays for life.
Bembridge Whitecliff Bay
Bembridge is a luvvly park, caravan although nice was a bit grubby. It was the restaurant that was disappointing, it is out of season so no pressure on them. I had hard lumps in my mash, veg was still nearly frozen and gravy was defo like dishwasher. My husbands chips were rock hard. Yes we did mention it and was offered a refund but declined. It was our 2nd visit so we should have known better! However the maintenance team at the camp site Kevin & Allison were very helpful and informative
Great little find
Great little find , loved everything about it from the view to everything being on site . The people were friendly and well organised and the toilets/showers very clean deffo will be coming back again.
None existent customer service or care
Made a trip advisor review about issues with accommodation we were allocated. Away resorts replied advising me to message them directly with information so they could investigate which I did, only for them to reply saying I had to go through booking.com whom I had booked through. Complaint is regarding accommodation provided by Away Resorts, I have provided photos, why they cannot just deal with this and the points raised I do not know. Accommodation was poor, needed a deep clean and had broken furniture. We are repeat customers and just feel like they are not interested in resolving this matter.
Beautiful beach
Beautiful beach , really close . Also close to balybont train station . Lovely site & staff . The caravan was disappointing.
Would stay here again.
Just want to say how amazing this camp site is, we stayed here over the weekend and we couldn't believe the view. Our pitch over looked the sea and it was only a short walk to the beach itself, the pitches are very spacious and the camp site was bar far the quietest site I've ever been to, the shop has everything you need and the bar next door sells food and drinks, ( even gluten free!! In a separate fryer aswell ).
The walk to the toilets though is a long way depending where you are, so if you have any mobility issues it would be worth putting a note on your booking to ask to be closer.
Only Marked it down due to how dirty the toilets and showers were. They weren't cleaned all weekend with poo stains up the toilets and a broken shaver left on the shower floor from the Saturday afternoon and was still there Sunday before we left.
10/10 would stay here again, highly recommend

PEOPLE DO Some REsearch BEFORE BOOKING AS I have since returning home and there are numerous reviews, stating , dirty, appealing, ant infested , poor communication etc
Disappointing second Swanage experience
It's hard to know what kind of caravan to expect at this site. I stayed in the summer - see 5 star review - in a beautifully furnished well-equipped caravan that far exceeded the "Comfort" specification that I had paid for. However, on my return visit over Christmas the "Luxury" caravan I had booked was very stark and plain with basic standard fittings and no nice touches. I guess sometimes you are allocated units that are privately owned where the owner has made it lovely, but other times you get bog-standard.
Also it was much further up the hill, so it made it very difficult not having a car.
Terrible company
Terrible company. Do not book a holiday. There's loads of better holiday parks out there
The worst holiday ever/Filthy
The worst holiday ever. Went to Away Resort, St Ives Bay.
Stayed in a value Chalet. It was dirty, filthy carpets, black mould around the shower and the bathroom floor was filthy.
It became clear why the carpets were so dirty when it rained. Water poored down a ramp leading to our chalet which caused the drains at the side and front of our chalet to overflow throwing up goodness knows what.
The action that had been taken was only to lift a cover over one of the drains. A ramp had also been put at the front door so you didn't have to stand in the dirty water. You still had to walk in it upto your ankles before the ramp. Disgusting.
The sheets were filthy and actually had holes in! When pointed out to reception all they said was would I like some new sheets.
They were then left outside in a bag in the filth.
The dirty sheets from other apartments/caravans were also left outside open to the elements for days. This meant it was possible for any creatures to get in with them and do goodness know what.
Real concern for health.
I also saw babies cot mattresses open to the elements.
I was just happy to get out if there. Never go back.
Horrendous Experience
Prior to our arrival, we received a call on Sunday, 20th April, informing us that the lakeside lodge we had originally booked was no longer available. We were offered alternative accommodation one row back, along with £50 in vouchers. Although this was disappointing, we accepted the arrangement in good faith. On arrival we noted that we were actually two rows back. Not only was this a downgrade from our original booking, but I remain unconvinced that the move was truly due to unavailability. I strongly suspect that our lodge was reassigned to accommodate a longer booking, which would be a deeply unfair practice and not in line with the standards we expected.
Upon arrival at the lodge at 2:30pm, it became immediately apparent that the accommodation was not fit for purpose, particularly in terms of cleanliness and hygiene—ultimately posing a serious health and safety concern.
The first thing we noticed was a strong, pungent smell of urine, which, though slightly masked by cleaning products, was unmistakable. As we began to unpack, further issues became clear:
The kitchen worktop and cooker were smeared with remnants of old food.
The floor was visibly dirty, scattered with crumbs—including a piece of chocolate I had to discard quickly to prevent our dog from eating it.
The table was pointlessly laid for four people; however, the plates and glasses were so filthy I wouldn’t have allowed even my dog to use them.
When trying to put our food away, I discovered the third drawer was unusable due to a layer of food crumbs.
The spare room, though unused, was covered in cobwebs—indicating a lack of proper cleaning. Ironically a card had been left by Ebong, Kelly and Liss to say they had "cleaned the lodge"!
At 4pm, I reported these concerns to reception. A staff member, who openly admitted he had no sense of smell, came to the lodge and simply sprayed a neutraliser before leaving us an additional £30 in vouchers. We then went for a walk, hoping the situation would improve.
Unfortunately, upon our return, the smell slowly intensified—particularly in the main bedroom. It became so overpowering that I struggled to sleep. At midnight, I got up to use the toilet without slippers and discovered the true source of the stench: the carpet between the bed and wall was saturated with urine.
The fact that we unknowingly spent the night in a lodge with a urine-soaked carpet is deeply distressing. The psychological impact of that night—feeling dirty, exposed to unsanitary conditions, and utterly let down—has stayed with us even after returning home. I had to wash all of our clothes that were in that room, and the unpleasant memories have tainted what should have been a relaxing break.
We have been refunded the full cost of the break, however a lack of empathy and remorse shown by all staff proves how unprofessional this company is. I highly recommend that you do not book through them and lets just hope they ripped the carpet up in 14 Wag View - I doubt it!
Avoid This Place at All Costs!
Avoid This Place at All Costs!
Our holiday at this park was a complete disaster. The lodge was filthy and the caravan was not in a fit state with lots of things broken— To make things worse all you could smell was people smoking illegal substances. It got so bad that the police and even police dogs were called out completely ruining any sense of peace or relaxation. We couldn’t sleep, felt unsafe, and honestly just wanted to leave. There was a lot more issues but they had been resolved. This is not a place for families or anyone looking to actually enjoy their holiday. Stay far, far away. We did try to sort this out with Michelle Hankins and Emma at st Ives park but they was not helpful at all. I would recommend you save your money and stay somewhere else.
Great Experience at Mill Rythe
We had a lovely time at Mill Rythe! We stayed in the "Burst of Blue" caravan which was spotlessly clean with good space and excellent kitchen facilities. The caravan was immaculate throughout, though having TVs in all four rooms meant the kids were a bit too glued to screens at times...
The outdoor patio area was nice, and the common facilities seemed very new and well-maintained. There was decent entertainment for children, a pleasant bar, and an acceptable soft play area.
A few negatives to note: The bingo sessions dragged on for too long, with many tech issues. You can only buy bingo tickets with cash, but there's no ATM on-site (and staff couldn't advise where to get cash). There were limited activities compared to places like Parkdean. We had to book pool sessions at reception as the app wasn't showing any slots.
On the plus side, the surrounding area is nice and safe to explore, with a Lidl conveniently located nearby.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but there's definitely room for improvement in certain areas.
Finally general feedback - the booking system is frustrating. Trying to book a future trip shows "sold out" holidays that still appear in search results.
