Received wrong order
Great selection of beers, if they're in stock, but it's never good to receive completely the wrong order, which is what happened to me. As in someone else's order. It also took the company nearly three working days to respond to my email notifying them of their error. On the plus side they then rectified matters quickly and they delivered my order again within two days, and collected the wrong order a few days later. I will order with them again though, the beers are too good not to.
Nice Belgian Beer selection
Nice Belgian Beer selection with a beer glass to drink them with and it arrived in time for Christmas, as it was ordered as a Christmas gift. Only reason for not giving 5* is because the advert for this package said there would be explanatory tasting notes too which were not enclosed and my enquiry via email only got as far as an acknowledgement in the run up to Christmas and no further. Shame really as every thing else was good.

This is the first time I’ve used Beer Merchants. I placed an order yesterday lunch time and it’s just arrived, and it’s only 8:26am! All the bottles have a BBE date of late 2025 and the order was packaged perfectly. I couldn’t be more pleased with the service- thank you!
Bought a "Premium" Mystery box and was…
Bought a "Premium" Mystery box and was fairly disappointed. I have regularly bought the standard mystery box and recommended it to everyone as the best beer deal on the market, this was when it was still 24 beers for £24. Now understandably, due to the rising cost of living, this has gone to £34.99 and so has become less of a bargain. When they released the "Premium Mystery Box" I immediately jumped at the chance to buy as I thought it would contain an even more premium selection of beers than the standard box due to the high price of £49.99. The selection of beers was much the same… When I look through their online shop they have some absolutely amazing +£10 beers so I was expecting to see maybe one or two of these in my box but nothing particularly amazing and many duplicates whereas the standard box used to be all unique beers. When I contacted them to complain about this I was told that the price was this high as "many of these beers are still in date" and there were "2 snack to enjoy" (sic) though these were some of the most mediocre snacks I've ever had the pleasure of trying. They finished by saying they would try to improve any further packages they may do rather than offering any remediation. It's unlikely I will be recommending this service to anyone anymore.
Received expired beers
Received expired beers, cannot reach anyone via phone. Seems to be a common practice when reading through the reviews. I don’t want to know how their warehouse looks like if this keeps happening. Apparently no system and no quality controls in place…
Awful service - cannot contact them
Placed an expensive order (north of £50) with them on 22nd August. It is now 8th September and still not delivered.
Repeated attempts (over ten times over different days, during their listed opening hours) calling the number listed on their website this week - nobody picks up the phone. Emailed them at the start of week, no response. But I'm still getting their marketing emails.
I have now resorted to DMing their parent company (Cave Direct, who also do not answer their phone) on Instagram and tweeting them in the hope of getting a response.
Next step will be writing a letter directly to the Managing Director (his details are on the Cave Direct website).
This is an awful level of service. I shouldn't have to do this. All I want is the beer I paid for to be delivered.

Missing Item, Terrible Customer Service

Ordered a case of Belgian beer costing over £50 which was supposed to come with a glass. No glass included. Contacted company which then had the cheek to just send a £3 gift voucher. 1. The glass itself would cost 3 times as much so feels like a slap in the face. 2. This super generous gesture can only be redeemed if I spend more more with them. No thanks! Plenty of other beer companies to go with who don't insult their customers. Don't shop with these people!
I ordered a Mini Keg for my husband for…
I ordered a Mini Keg for my husband for Christmas. It was BBE of October so already out of date when ordered in December. We did not realize until we went to drink it and contacted them for a replacement. They agreed to refund then in the next email changed there mind and said there was information about it on the product page.....however now out of stock so cant prove it. Terrrible Terrible....so sad we were getting boxes with them regularly.

Great beer at great prices
I've read some of the recent bad reviews and I can only say my experience with Beer Merchants was all good. Best price I could find on the web for my favourite Belgian beer, Brugse Zot, very quick delivery, it took 2 days and was well packaged. I checked my bottles use by dates as I'd seen some dodgy comments but mine were all mid 2024. No complaints and will defo use again.
Carelessness and poor rectification
Update: so I received the missing parts on the 26th. While I appreciate the quick dispatch the items did not arrived in time due to an error by the seller. I had to buy beer again from a different supplier so I spent double. Again this was completely down to their error. If I was a shop and made an error I would have corrected it differently. If it was possible I would have dispatched the package with Saturday delivery, surely DHL has service like that. Cost more of course but that's how you correct your error. Or would have just add a can of complimentary beer for the error. Neither of this happened. I paid the same price for partial service. Very simple trading concepts. I can guarantee that I won't buy from this shop ever again. Stars are staying 2 stars as they acted, communicated quick but still, this isn't the place where I would spend any of my money.
Update: so I emailed them right away I noticed the missing keg, this was something around 7-8pm, woke up the next morning and got an email from DHL that a pick up was arranged then got an email from beer merchants apologising for the error and let me know they dispatched it right away. Action was taken in a very urgent manner. Now I am hoping the keg will arrive in time. Changed starts from 1 to 2, and will change it again when the keg is with me.
Delivery time was ok as stated on the website but they didn't send a mini keg and a free pint stein. How can you miss these 2 large items??? Party is ruined, first and last time ordered from these people. Ridiculous carelessness.
Won’t be using again!
Very disappointed with the service on my second order. First time using them it was great, delivered on time and everything correct. Second time, it’s been 3 weeks since i ordered, no sign of any beer and customer service didn’t bother to get back to me despite saying they would chase DHL as i wasn’t given a tracking number. Ended up disputing via paypal since it seemed the only course of action, surprisingly they haven’t responded to that either. Also worryingly, looks like i’ve been signed up to a subscription i didn’t ask for but again, i’ve been ignored when i queried that too.
Terrible
Terrible. They show you a deal that looks really good and it says in the small print there can be subs. When you get it half the order is different so it was beer company I tried 2 of their beers and I wanted to try an other two. The beers the sent were the ones I had already. So very disappointed
If you're happy with out of date beer…
If you're happy with out of date beer and terrible customer service, this is the company for you but if like me you prefer your beer fresh then I'd suggest going to another company. 14 bottles out of 20 were out of date, 10 by 2 months, the other 4 by a week. Tried phoning several times and no answers and have emailed and also no reply.Seems to be a common complaint.
