I have nothing but praise for the staff…

I have nothing but praise for the staff who dealt with my first Billhop experience. It was like stepping back into a golden age when customer service was still considered to be important. Modern internet based technology is always a challenge for an old fossil like me but I was aided every step of the way with prompt polite e-mail responses to my queries, and successfully completed my two transactions.
A breath of fresh air compared with the usual indifferent company/customer interactions we have come to accept these days.

Excellent customer service

Excellent customer service. And service does exactly what is states within the time frames set. Being able to use Credit Cards to pay company and household bills is very useful sometimes although there is a commission make sure you use cards with spending rewards to compensate towards the cost.

Billhop are offering a much needed service especially when needing to pay HMRC.
I dealt with a member of staff via email and found the speed and politeness of that member of staff to be excellent with two replies in less than 15mins.

Where is my money sitting for 6 days?

Where is my money sitting for 6 days? I'm sorry but I see no excuse when charging a decent fee. It doesn't take 6 days to move money in 2019... Presumably it's the greedy addition of bank interest to the fee already charged. Cut it down to 2 days and I'd give you 5 stars.

Hi James, we would like to underline that we do not hold the funds to accrue bank interest. It is rather a matter of payout time from our acquirer. We are constantly working on improving payment terms with our acquirers and as soon as we are able to shorten them we will automatically shorten the payment terms for you as a user. 4 business days is the time our acquirer currently needs to transfer the funds to us. Once we have received the money, we release the payments straight away with Faster Payments so that the recipients can receive them immediately.

HMRC & Billhop

I found this site when searching for ways to pay my tax bill and everything worked smoothly from registration using my work address to the test payment and final billings inc copies from Billhop bank. No hesitation in recommendation and will use again.

Great for paying tax bill...

Great for paying tax bill if you require liquidity in other ways. Only downside is a relatively hefty fee for the privilege. 1.95% would be sufficient to make it more attractive. Would prefer a shorter turnaround time too but sure this will come with time.

Bottom line, useful but not likely to be a mainstream competitor with current fees and turnaround time.

Very useful financial tool

Bill hop is a great way to be able to pay large bills in particular using an Amex card which is otherwise difficult - either because the payee doesn’t accept Amex or won’t accept credit cards at all. Think HMRC or your Council Tax bill. This is very helpful when you are trying to hit a spend target to trigger a benefit such as a 2-4-1 airline ticket.
One drawback is the fee, which is a bit steep at 2.95%.

I’ve used it to pay with card payments…

I’ve used it to pay with card payments when the individuals or group don’t take cards.
All seems good don’t agree with having to upload recipients invoice for compliance.

If bill hop require this you should be notified before you make the payment not after so as a customer you can make an objective decision to proceed. I don’t like hassle and compliance for an occasional payment of a couple of £100 or so is just an irritation to me.

Simple but expensive and slow

Simple to setup and send money, however, the fee's are very expensive, and to send money it takes 6 days. In this day and age, 6 days is a lifetime!
