Rushden Lakes Service was fine, albeit mid morning, but food overcooked, sausage was typical supermarket fodder. Why oh why do most cafés go for what I call sawdust sausages, I guess price, but I... See more

Very good food ❤️
I visited this restaurant with my…
I visited this restaurant with my girlfriend and, from the start I asked whether they served halal meat. The waiter responded that they did not, which I accepted without issue. However, I did feel that the question was met with an unusual reaction, as it seemed to draw attention from other staff.
At the end of the meal, we ordered a dessert to share. When I broke the wafer it in half and gave half to my girlfriend, she immediately commented that it had a very unpleasant smell(A..s). I then checked it myself and found the odour to be extremely offensive and concerning.
I raised this with the waiter, who said he could not smell anything unusual. Instead of addressing the issue directly, he offered me a double espresso, which did not feel like an appropriate response (guilty) to what we had just experienced, shocking!
We left the restaurant feeling uncomfortable and disturb disturbed! We were polite leaving, kind and friendly. After returning home, I remained deeply unsettled by the experience and found it difficult to sleep (haven’t slept at all , writing this now ),due to how distressing and concerning it had been.
I believe customers should be able to ask about dietary preferences without feeling uncomfortable, and any issues with food quality should be taken seriously and handled professionally. Unfortunately, this experience fell well below those expectations(evil).
Bills food is cold.
Bills Canterbury served up stone cold eggs Benedict with a congealed sauce. I mentioned it to the waiter when he asked me if everything was ok, but I ate because I was starving and didn’t have time to wait for another 20 mins. We got a pot of tea knocked off the bill, but I now wish I hadn’t eaten it because it is giving me indigestion.
Mediocre food
Waitress was very good but it was a Saturday and busy so our party of 10 had our meals delivered at different times, my meal was cold and portion sizes of chips was poor.
Not the best service
At the Worcester bills. Food was really nice. However service was really poor. Staff looked miserable most of the time. The restaurant was quiet for a Friday evening. Had 4 main meals, drinks and desserts. Went for the pancakes as it was £5. Was told we can’t have the discount on the pancakes. That’s fine as I know they were on a promo anyway. But got to the till to pay as no one came over. Said we could not have the discount as we had the pancakes. I took it as we can’t have the discount on the pancakes but can on everything else. In the end they had to put it on 2 different tables to apply the blue light card. This is really poor. As the service was not the best and the evening was ended so badly. I will
Be staying away from bills in the future.
Also I think its really bad to apply a service charge of 12% when you’re being paid anyway. It’s should be optional. We’re not in America.

Elise, our waitress was superb. Warm welcome, attentive and discreet. What an asset to Bill's.
Our avocado on sourdough was delicious - generous toppings and portions.
Always a pleasure to visit Bills.
Highly recommend.
Chicken shawarma
Chicken shawarma , very disappointed, food on top of flat bread. Very soggy and hard to cut. Not enough chicken
Suggestion, perhaps the flat bread should be cut into quarters and the chicken et al placed beside. Presentation is everything.
Goodness what’s happened
Goodness what’s happened? Fish pie supposed to be cod salmon and prawns. 2 prawns, no cod, and salmon. Re name it potato pie. Chicken shawarma. All piled on to a flatbread which made it soggy. Hardly any chicken. Can’t believe it. We have loved bills for so long. Won’t be returning. BTW We had to wait ages for our meal to arrive😟
I tried to use my Blue Light discount…
I tried to use my Blue Light discount Card at Bills in Exeter for the 20% off the menu, but I was told by the female server that I had to get a code from the Blue Light Card app itself with which to use in tandem with the card. I thought this was very odd. I had a physical BLC Discount card as well as the virtual one in my Google Pay Wallet to use which only had to be swiped or presented to the server upon paying the bill.
I am not sure if the server understood my request or was confused by how my Blue Light Card actually worked. The server only had to put in my Blue Light Card number whilst processing the bill and the 20% discount would have been easily applied
I have never had to get a code from the BLC app to use in conjunction with the BLC card itself. This defeats the object of having such a discount card.
This was very embarrassing for me as I was on a date and had mentioned to my date that I could get us a discount with my BLC.
This unfortunate experience has put me off from going to your diner which is a massive shame because the meal and drinks were fabulous.

Flowerpot desert
You all have to try the flowerpot desert. It was a piece of art on a plate . Yummy to.
I have to start with the staff because…
I have to start with the staff because honestly — they are absolute angels. Warm, welcoming, genuinely lovely… the kind of people that make you want to come back regardless. You can tell they really care, and that deserves proper credit 👏
Now… the pancakes.
Friday morning, and I’m not entirely convinced these pancakes hadn’t already lived a full and meaningful life earlier in the week. A couple of them had the texture of Gandhi’s flip flop — resilient, historic, and frankly not something you’d expect to be chewing through at breakfast.
There’s “fluffy stack” and then there’s “survivor of several reheats,” and sadly this leaned heavily toward the latter. I half expected one to apply for a pension.
It’s such a shame because the vibe is great, the staff are genuinely fantastic, and you want the food to match that energy. Sort the pancake situation out and this place would be unstoppable.
Until then… maybe avoid a late-week stack unless you’re in the mood for a bit of a jaw workout 😅

Had a great experience at Bills in Exeter. Our first time. Monika, our server was lovely and very attentive. My girls loved the chocolate pancakes!
Bluewater branch don’t do breakfast
Went for a breakfast at the Bluewater branch, turned down to be my worst breakfast experience ever turns out the chef can’t cook bacon at all. When my meal arrives breakfast was cold. I brought it to their attention and they said they redo another batch of baking for me. When the baking came out this time, it’s now burned to a crisp literally burnt. Can’t believe that even send it out of the kitchen like that. At this point I gave up and they knocked a little bit of money off my bill. I won’t go there again.

Had the most wonderful last minute walk in dinner. Despite being busy, the food was fast, fresh and hot. Victoria was a superstar, looking after us so well. Thank you 🙏 Southampton branch
Day trip to London
Manuela was delightful, she quickly cleared our preferred table and was more than happy to explain cocktails, food menu and gave us prompt service, when requested she took a number of photos with a smile. We will return.
Had a great lunch at Bills York
Had a great lunch at Bills York, service was fantastic, food so tasty and prices so reasonable. Will be back on our next visit to York.
NIKO at Bills in Exeter.
My wife and I visited Bills in Exeter which is where we normally eat whilst doing some shopping. After our last visit my wife was keen to have a Ruby salad which she thoroughly enjoyed and said it was one of the best salads she’d ever eaten. We went through the menu to see it had changed and the Ruby salad had been removed and the closest thing was a buddah bowl which she ordered. It arrived and was more of a side salad yet the price was the same as a main meal. Fortunately we were served by NIKO, he came across to ask if our food was ok so my wife explained her disappointment to him. Without fuss he asked her if she would like to choose something else which we did. He was so accommodating, friendly and polite and just sorted it out for us with no fuss whatsoever. He then made sure my wife’s original order was removed from the bill. If only all restaurants and staff were able to deal with issues like this with no drama and so accommodating. He is a credit to his profession and Bills are very lucky to have him.
Disappointing visited to Bill’s Reigate.
My wife and I visited Bill’s in Reigate in December to celebrate our anniversary, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a very disappointing experience.
Given the occasion, we were hoping for a warm welcome and a relaxed, enjoyable meal. Instead, the welcome felt cold and the service was below expectations. When ordering, we both chose the chicken schnitzel (I believe that was the name of the dish), and I specifically asked for mine without capers. We also ordered starters, which were perfectly fine.
However, when the main courses arrived, my dish still contained capers. I politely mentioned this to the waitress and reminded her that I had asked for them to be removed. She didn’t have much of a response and went to get the manager. After explaining the situation to the manager, there was an awkward pause that left me feeling as though the question was, “What would you like me to do about it?” To avoid further discomfort, I said I would just eat around the capers, and the manager seemed content with that solution.
As a result, I was left picking through my meal and leaving a messy plate, which wasn’t ideal especially on our anniversary.
After we finished eating, we were asked if we wanted dessert. We said “not yet.” It’s worth noting that this was the first time in a long while that my wife and I had been able to leave our baby with family and enjoy an evening out together. Shortly after, we were asked again about dessert, which began to make us feel as though we were being rushed or were no longer welcome. The restaurant was still busy, with other customers arriving, dining, and chatting with the manager, so it wasn’t close to closing time.
In the end, we asked for the bill. There was no apology for the mistake with my meal, nor a simple “thank you for coming” or “have a nice evening.”
It’s a shame, as Bill’s had been recommended to us by family members who had visited another brunch and had a positive experience. Sadly, our visit to the Reigate restaurant did not reflect that recommendation and left us thinking that maybe we're the wrong people for this location.
