So many people have raved about Bills…

So many people have raved about Bills so I thought I would give it a try( Victoria ) Staff were amazing that’s where the good part ended . The food was less than average , I went for a chicken shawarma and it was awful . A huge pike of salad, sone rubbery chicken with sauce poured on and a rosemary flat bread with 1 leaf of rosemary and it was £17. The kids meal was dry as anything and after adding the ketchup it was slightly better ( to add, the Heinz ketchup bottles were all faded and dirty so unlikely Heinz) the toilets were worse than Wetherspoons .

Was the end of a great day out so I just paid and left , never to return

Bills - Covent Garden - Terrible Experience

Bills - Covent Garden

I had a reservation for three at Bill’s today, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Despite having booked in advance, my table was downgraded due to a cancellation, and from the moment I arrived I was repeatedly reminded of a 1.5‑hour time limit , before I had even ordered a drink.

I was initially shown to a table upstairs, but the area was extremely loud and unsuitable for accessibility needs. When I asked to move to the table offered downstairs, the staff member said he would check with the manager. Watching their interaction from a distance, the manager appeared visibly annoyed, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. They accepted to be moved to the table downstairs. Even while waiting for my guests to arrive, I was reminded again about how much time we had left, which created unnecessary stress and pressure.

Once seated downstairs, things did not improve. Before I was even halfway through my starter, a waitress asked if I “wanted to keep it” because the mains were coming and a large party needed the space ; another reminder that we were being rushed. When I questioned how a large party would fit at a two‑person table, her response was irritated and dismissive.

The entire meal felt hurried and chaotic. The atmosphere was loud, with a baby screaming at the next table for a long time with no intervention to support the situation from staff. When dessert was mentioned, we were told the large party had been moved, only to be reminded again moments later that another group was coming and time was limited. At that point, it was clear we were not welcome to stay, so we declined dessert altogether.

When I tried to give feedback directly, the staff member, who appeared to be the floor manager , was defensive rather than receptive. There was no apology, no acknowledgement of the poor service, and certainly no gesture of goodwill.

I’ve had a great experience at Bill’s in St Albans, so this visit was especially disappointing. Today’s service was rushed, disorganised, and lacked basic courtesy, care, and customer awareness. It was embarrassing to have invited guests to a place that treated us this way. I won’t be returning to this location.

The only positive was the Fever‑Tree raspberry drink, which tasted good ; but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to redeem the experience.

I Do Not Recommend!

Ate here several times always been fantastic. Today we both ordered steak. Never had steak like it. It was so tough you couldn't chew it.
Spoke to blonde haired waitress who was quite dismissive and made me feel like they thought I was lying to get a freebie! No apologies just took one meal of the bill. Will still keep eating here's we like it there, but never order the steak as another waitress said they always have complaints over that dish. Also said blonde waitress needs a to learn how to talk to customers

We booked a table for our works Xmas dinner however we were seated by the front door where is was cold and table was wobbly . Staff weren’t particularly interested if you were lucky to get someone’s attention. Food came and it was lukewarm warm again could not find a member of staff . Staff seemed stressed and over busy . Won’t be returning.

Went for an impromptu lunch today and wasn’t impressed. They appeared short staffed and the front of house had to continually wait tables as well as turn clients away as their tables were full.
I had aubergine and mozzarella bake which was very bland. I even had an aubergine stalk included like it had been thrown together. 3 minute chunks of mozzarella on the top which had not been heated just placed on top as it left the kitchen. Won’t be rushing back.

What went right at Bill's

What went right at Bill's ? Terrible service, had to wait 30 minutes before being approached by the so-called waiting staff. The first insult before offering any drinks was to demand if we were ready to order our food while we sat at an empty table with no menus. The first bottle of Prosecco took 45 minutes to arrive and it was reluctantly poured into our glasses. By this early stage, it was obvious the waiting staff were really not bothered or welcoming. 30 minutes later we ordered what is laughingly called food and it took another 45 minutes for two tasteless salads and a sizzling chicken? schnitzel to be delivered. 2nd bottle of Prosecco was dumped into the ice bucket which was now full of water. We had now entered the realm of self service, as the ice bucket wasn't refilled and we were free to pour our own drinks. Quite happy though, to take my salad away whilst I was still eating it with the knife and fork in my hands. This place is a joke, keep away.

Sheer Greed

My wife and I have used Bills before where they gladly took our money at the Wimbledon restaurant.
When my wife tried to book a table for mid afternoon on Xmas eve they will not let you book for two you need 13 or over. This is absolutely disgusting. It is sheer greed the hospitality business has been crying for years about lack of support and low footfall but then they do this.
It’s nice to know they want local support but do not give it.

Don’t waste your money

I booked a table at the Southampton branch and glad I did because it was full. I had aubergine & mozzarella bake and apple & carrot cake crumble. The bake was mediocre to say the least. It had 3 slices of aubergine and 2 pieces of mozzarella. It was mainly tomato based. The crumble was lukewarm but tasty.
I don’t think the prices reflect the mediocre quality of the food. It is very much an overpriced Wetherspoons. The staff were very attentive but I object to an opt out service charge being included in the bill.
The place needs a deep cleaning. There was very thick dust everywhere.

Dave and the team smashed it again! Thank you!

I had a long overdue catch up with some old friends and we chose Bills Westfield. As always, the service was second to none (despite the the fact it was a busy 12pm booking), huge thanks to Dave, for the warm welcome back, the attentive service, the checking in and general loveliness, it feels like seeing an old friend at this point! I also wanted to mention the great additional service from Asma, how lovely you would remember me, and still with the fabulous nails! Also Abdul, thank you for the great cocktail suggestion even though you've never tried it, it was good! You guys are a great team, and in a time where everything is fast-paced, so refreshing when people in the hospitality business remember it's all about just that! Also a quick mention about the food, always the best GF options, always fresh and always delicious. Thanks again team Bills, see you soon x Dia

Canterbury - Good food let down by poor service

We were a party of 3. Food when it arrived was on the whole tasty. One meal didn't turn up however, which meant we had to start separately after waiting, and waiting... The portion of chips with the burger weren't just cold, they were still frozen in the middle. When we sent them back we waited, and waited for replacement - which eventually arrived after the rest of the plate was cleared. Ask for ketchup, it'd be quicker to go and squash some tomatoes yourself. Good food let down by the service. Sorry, but we won't be back.

Long wait

I've been to Bill's before and received food in an acceptable timeframe. However today we were waiting 55 minutes at which point we had to prompt the staff. Such a long wait meant that our toddler was screaming out for food and in the end we left a few minutes later and gave the little man milk instead.

I think the problem is the restaurant is too big for the size of kitchen. Every table was taken, meaning probably around 200 people waiting for food at the same time from a single kitchen.

It’s a year ago and it’s taken so long to leave this review and I apologize to Fabio, I’ve just stumbled on the QR review code and I’d like to say I remember it was a lovely afternoon for me, I ate alone but didn’t feel alone as the service was wonderful. Thank you Fabio, maybe you don’t work there anymore, but somehow I hope you get this. Bill’s Hammersmith.
