Withdrawals Restriction

I opened an account with Bitbuy and made a few crypto purchases. My account was still locked down even several weeks later, meaning that I could not withdraw my holdings to transfer them to a crypto wallet.
When I approached Bitbuy about this, they said they would not allow me to withdraw my holdings and they removed the withdrawal button. They gave me no satisfactory reason for taking this action. However, they told me that I would be welcome to deposit more funds and continue to buy and sell with them. Crazy! I read many online complaints about this self-same problem.

Post Scriptum:
I registered a complaint with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) and within a few days they got back to me with several suggestions. I followed up with their first tip and, that very day, someone from Bitbuy’s parent company contacted me, informing me that my account would no longer be restricted. So, I was then able to transfer my crypto out of their exchange. In the end, I was relieved, but I would stay clear of this dodgy company.

Reset 2FA to SMS verification - to allow login

Found it relatively easy to contact Customer Support. I had lost the ability to gain access to my 2FA through my Google Authenticator. After going through the steps on Bitbuy Onfido to verify my identity, Bitbuy reset my 2FA back to SMS verifications and I was once again able to log into my account.

Yes they are just a bunch of scammers…

Yes they are just a bunch of scammers and game players. They need to be shut down, one game after another with these people, and they invent fee's like dormant fee's for not using your account which for 9 months have not been able to get into because of them! Just a bunch of thieves in my opinion.

I opened an account 96 hours ago

I opened an account 96 hours ago. And was able to easily deposit money into my account. Since then the account is frozen for withdrawals for a "24 hour" holding period. And others have said there is NO support. I submitted a support ticket and was warned not to report the same issue repeatedly. That has been the ONLY feedback from BitByte. No online assistant, no customer support contact. nothing. Stay clear. I am not confident i will ever be able to access my account.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE

Logged into my account from my phone instead of my desktop on August 13th. "For security reasons" they disabled my crypto withdrawals for "72 hours". This is August 19th and crypto withdrawals are still disabled. I have a bill to pay and can't access my own crypto. There is no way to communicate with them except by submitting a ticket. I have not heard from them in 3 days. Do I have to drive to Toronto and show up in person?

Sold my cyrpto currency on August 8 and…

Sold my cyrpto currency on August 8 and tried to withdraw my funds the next day. Support emailed me and said I had put in incorrect banking info (which I had not) the fund are still sitting in my bitbuy account but have been locked down for the last two and one half weeks. and despite repeated request to support they are still locked. You can not get any intelligent or timely responses from support. There compliance officers contact info is no longer in service. I have emailed the chairman of the board and had no response. Whatever you do stay away from BItbuy!

I withdrew cash more than 3 days ago and they promptly emailed me saying the withdrawal was completed by email transfer but no funds have arrived to my account. And yes they quoted my proper email account. When I email their support all I get is “we are looking into it” and here’s a ticket number
Have I been scammed?
Stay away from these guys!!

BEWARE OF BITBUY

BEWARE OF BITBUY. I have been in the Banking industry for decades and have to say that this company is highly suspect. After reading these complaints its quite apparent that they only seem to have one "Customer Service" representative named Carrie. When I try their OTC (Over the Counter Line) the guy answering the phone tells me that he has no way to contact "Support" other than sending them a message. Well I have called three times and asked what sounds like the same person and he was friendly and said he'd send a message. So far no reply. I've completed their form online and explained but again, no response. I registered for an account. Provided answers to all of their questions, gave them my drivers license (like an idiot). Within 30 minutes I had an email confirming my account was active and I could E-Transfer money into it. I did that. I purchased Bitcoin. The following morning I get this email from "Carrie" the text appears below, informing me I can buy Bitcoin and Transfer funds to my Canadian Bank Account but my account has been limited until I speak to one of their "specialists" and need to make an appointment. They provide a Calendar which only has dates in September and on the 4th thats almost one month away while they hold onto my money!!!!!! Ridiculous!!!! IF I can E-Transfer them my money and it clears and they allowed me to buy Bitcoin then why can't I send the Bitcoin or Sell it and get my money back? Sounds highly suspicious!!! I'm going to phone the Police, Report them to CIBC where I do my Banking and the highest levels so they will Block any customers from sending money to Bitbuy. I will also address this with my MP Melissa Lantsman. This is absolutelly suspicious and scammy. Give me BACK MY MONEY OR LET ME SEND THE BITCOIN!!!!

Bitbuy freezes your account and then takes months to get back to you. These are either total incompetents or just run of the mill thieves. They send an Email saying to go to a site but there are no appointments available to speak with anyone until September 04 2024

Yes, I agree with the comments about no contact from Bitbuy since they took over Coinsmart their service to answer concerns is terrible and the fees are out of this world.
Although I have to admit their platform is secure and easy to navigate.

Bitbuy has been denying me access to my account. Forcedly close account without notice. They have been given the run around for weeks. They have been provided everything they I request in the format that available. Their customer service manager Carrie has been unwilling to help even tho she was provided with the necessary information.

This is a great company to work with…

This is a great company to work with for cryptocurrency. You can connect directly with your bank account and deposit and withdraw. They have a lot of cryptocurrencies to chose from and a secure platform to keep you safe. After account and user verification steps are complete everything goes well. As with most currency platforms the user has to make informed decisions as to what trades to make in order to stay profitable.

It has taken just over 4 YEARS to…

It has taken just over 4 YEARS to resolve an issue with Bitbuy/Coinberry.

Just getting verified on Bitbuy, after they took Coinberry over, took 6 months. 6 MONTHS!!!!!! I started the process in January 2024 and I was finally able to get into my account today, the 2nd of July 2024. Unbelievable. And these guys are regulated???

Now I can see that $5 I put into Coinberry 4 years ago. But nothing of the $15 worth of Etherium they offered for all the trouble I went through.

Looks like I have to wait two days or so if I was to get that $5 out of this account which would be done via Interac transfer. Really? It takes less than 5 minutes to do it between my numerous bank accounts.

On top of that they have a p*** poor range of crypto currency assets to trade in, even lacking one of the biggest which is Tether (USDT) on the Tron network (TRC20).

AND they limit me to $30,000 trading a year. Not worth the awful hassle in getting this account working.

Oh, yes.... One more item. When I got taken to the page where I was sent a code by SMS, it took 30 SECONDS OR MORE to get the button 'Call me instead' to activate so that I could get the code by telephone call. What a highly discriminatory company.
