No customer service, and problems will arise
The service fees are high, when the app worked it was flawless and very fast. However, you will have issues where withdrawals won't work or they'll randomly prohibit withdrawals. Good luck getting chat or a ticket responded to within a week. Absolutely terrible terrible terrible terrible customer service. There is no phone # to call. Your assets are essentially frozen. I spent $30 to transfer CAD funds to Bitcoin and back and 1.5% to e-transfer back to my account because I could not withdraw Bitcoin from their application. I have waited 3 days for a response to the ticket and chat. Stay away from this company. They aren't fraudulent but they are glitchy, expensive and have zero customer support

STAY AWAY!
Company is nothing but an incredible hassle. Locked account for no reason. Creating the account was a hassle with multiple emails back and forth. Absolutely horrendous customer service. And judging by the continued online negative reviews, it appears that bitbuy should just close their doors. What a joke of a company.

This company has turned into trash
This company has turned into trash. I have been using them for years. Prior to being bough by Wonderfi (Kevin O'leary). The exchange was easy to deposit buy crypto sell crypto withdrawal. Recently, my account withdrawals have been suspended. When I inquired why. They said I withdrew bitcoin to an unrecognized wallet. About $250 worth. They asked which wallet, I actually couldn't remember at the time during Christmas. So I said Bitget exchange or Exodus wallet. Those are the wallets I normally interact with. Turns out I paid in BTC to a supplement company and completely forget about it. Get this, the agent refused to reinstate withdrawals because she said its too much risk for the company. Are you kidding me? It's MY MONEY you plebs. Get out of crypto...Unless involved in criminal activity it's none of your business where I send my bitcoin. This company is antithetical to crypto. Stay away. The reviews don't lie. Ticket #351548

I deposited money via etransfer and…
I deposited money via etransfer and bitbuy sent me an email saying it’s been accepted but no money came into my account. It has been 2 weeks, I have contacted support multiple times. Tried the chat, they say they will get back to me via email within a couple hours, and nothing. This company has horrible support and is very unprofessional. I guess I’m just out a bunch of money now.

Crypto Withdrawals Suspended
With $8k at stake, though it might seem insignificant to some, it holds considerable value for me, and in light of my recent experience with BitBuy's customer service, I feel compelled to share this review.
It appears that BitBuy has imposed restrictions on numerous users' withdrawal capabilities and has displayed a concerning lack of responsiveness. It's disheartening to encounter such obstacles when we finally have alternative methods of managing and safeguarding our finances, free from reliance on traditional sluggish banking institutions. While I understand the need for security measures such as an account suspension, the prolonged delay in addressing customer concerns raises questions about BitBuy's accountability.
Is it reasonable to think that regulatory bodies such as the OSC would show interest in the challenges encountered by numerous individuals trying to access their investments?
Why would they allow me to deposit so much money knowing that they were not going to allow me to withdraw? It does not sound like the actions of a regulated business.

So here we go again
So here we go again. I went to withdraw some Ether and all I got was a flash-up message that wasn't even up long enough to read, which when I screenshot it, advised me that my Ether withdrawals had been disabled and I should contact them.
So I did a few days ago only to hear silence except for a plead for patience. Seems to me that the primary way to earn trust is to respect a customer and their access to their assets.
Update: April 11, 2024
So still no word from Bitbuy. I can not withdraw any crypto for reasons unknown. I can get into the account fine, buy and sell, even withdraw cash - but not crypto.
I've sent another email to support+id362449
How long must I wait to get an answer from Bitbuy?
April 17th
Ok, they fixed it yesterday. Finally. Here is what I wrote them in my email reply:
"Thanks, that fixed it. However, with your fee levels as high as they are, I would have expected quicker service.
"It took two weeks to get to my issue and during that time Ether climbed to $5,000 and lost 20% from that high. And for that you charge 2% on pro trades?"

I recently changed my cell phone
I recently changed my cell phone. The phone that is used for 2-Step verification. I submitted my new cell phone invoice as requested on March 4, 2024. Ticket #351630. After numerous emails asking when I can access my account. As of today March 28, 2024 I still cannot access my account. Bitbuy does not have a customer service phone number either. Only email. My next call will be to the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint. Worst customer service I have ever received ever!!!

I wanted to use a regulated exchange…
I wanted to use a regulated exchange here in Canada and the choice is limited, these seemed decent. Moved some BTC onto the exchange which was easy and fast. However, liquidity seems very low, 5m chart had huge wicks and market structure is not consistent with other exchanges. I sold about $8K of BTC and the fee was huge at 2% and then to e-transfer it off it cost me about another $70 or so. This would have cost me about $10 on Binance a year ago. 2% and rip off withdrawal fees, I saw a response to another review that you hope to lower fees in when market conditions improve, BTC is at ATH's, lots of money is flowing in the crypto, how much better are hoping for?!?!?!. If you want to attract traders to the platform then please lower your fees and please work on the pro-trading site, its pretty lacking. As one of the only regulated exchanges here in Canada you have the opportunity to stride away from the competition, such a shame it was an experience then left me feeling sour and ripped off.

Exhorbitant fees and rejected withdrawals
I had used Bitbuy for the past few years and never had any issues as recently as a trade I made in January.
But I made a couple trades on March 4 and 10 and the trading fees had been increased from 0.2% to 2% (about $76 for a $3800 order). I felt taken advantage of, as I didn't recall seeing any notice for this, which I would have expected given how large of an increase it was.
But my real issues started when I recently tried to withdraw crypto. The first was when I requested a withdrawal that got rejected, but there was no indication at all of the rejection. I had to contact support, after waiting a couple days for the withdrawal confirmation, to find out that the withdrawal was rejected and for what reason. The reason for the rejection was legitimate, and I learned my lesson. So I wasn't concerned about future withdrawal requests.
But then I tried to withdraw my crypto again. The rejection of that first withdrawal had disabled crypto withdrawals on my account. There is no indication of this anywhere - you only find out about it at the last step of submitting a withdrawal request - putting in the 2FA code. A little box pops up to say that your account's withdrawals have been disabled and to contact support.
I've been contacting support since March 12 and have still not had this resolved. They got back to me two days later asking for a lot of information, including screenshots to prove that I own the wallet (as another recent reviewer mentioned). I balked at the questions but eventually answered them. I replied to this and its been 4 days and I haven't received any follow up response.
I don't know whether the issues stem from regulatory burdens, system glitches, a woefully-understaffed support system, or if they are just plainly trying to make it difficult to withdraw funds from their system - but they need to figure this all out because it is a terrible customer experience.
