avoid this crap brand

I am stuck with a lawn mower and a strimmer which are of no use because BOTH of my chargers have blown. Why can't they manufacture a charger with some sort of fail safe instead of blowing beyond repair, try a thermal cut out, or an in-line quik-blo fuse or an electronic gizmo which fails then re-energizes after a cooling period. NO let the mugs pay out for more B&D crap. I am binning all B&D crap

Utter crap

Utter crap. After a day's use, a B&D angle grinder failed because the gears had melted. Chinese junk.

The UK customer service number always…

The UK customer service number always connects to a call centre in the Philippines which appears to be staffed entirely by mental defectives. They are absolutely no use whatsoever at any customer service matters, and are unable to connect the call elsewhere, including to their supervisors who are invariably unavailable. They also refuse to hang up at the conclusion of calls, so callers are unable to "say what they think of our service" at the end of a call, contrary to what is advertised.

Extreme Stick Vacuum

We have had a Black and Decker 'Extreme' stick vacuum cleaner for just over 2 years now. Just wanted to make you aware of several minor issues and one large issue that should make you think twice before buying one of these.

Major issue, and one that has been driving me nuts since we had the thing, is that the dust collection pod has been designed by a complete idiot. The pod is not really secured into place and is only 'clipped' onto the machine. You only have to catch the pod on a item of furniture, maybe a stool or the underside of your bed and the pod will detach and fall on the floor, depositing all the contents so you can vac it all up again! It is also very easy to knock the pod off with your non-vacuuming hand as you will naturally try and use the other hand to guide or steer the machine when in use - the position of the pod is such that you hand will almost certainly go straight to the pod and again the results will be the same - pod falls off and contents empty out. I would say that I have knocked the pod off on 50% of my uses over the last 2 years. The final straw came on my last use when I had 3 pod detaching incidents in one vacuuming run!

I decided to contact B&D and inform them that this product is junk in its current form (I didn't want a refund or a new one or a replacement - I just wanted them to investigate and make some changes so that
future models might be better)
I don't think the CS guy understood - they asked me for the model number and when I bought it - once again I tried to make clear that this didn't make any difference and my response back this time was basically sorry the product didn't work for you!!!! Jesus - I give up!!!

Other minor issue are the fact that no manufacturer can seem to work out how to make a vacuum head that starts at the front most point of the head and runs the complete width of the head in order to be able to get the head into corners and up to skirting boards. On this model there are also two little rubber rollers on each side of the head that constantly clog with dust and need cleaning out.

This model has an anti-hair roller which works well on the actual roller but hair constantly wraps around both ends of the roller and needs constant attention in order to maintain power.

Also, when will manufacturers provide a battery that actually last for the stated run time when operating the machine on full power??? This thing has 3 power settings, the 1st being a total waste of time. Vacuuming on level 2 runs the battery down in 30 mins and this drops if you need level 3 power. (I have another battery as a backup and I have never managed to clean my whole house using just one battery!)

I think I will be going back to a cable vac and a bag - at least all the dirt and dust won't need to get picked up twice and I'll only run out of power if I have a power cut!!!!!!!

Good luck B&D

Dishonest terrible. Use another brand

If I could give minus score I would. Bought a sander, website and box show product. Not everything pictured and in features is included. Customer service useless, acknowledged they have calls about this but still don’t change. Dishonest.

Hedge Trimmer short life span

I have purchased 3/4 B +D Cordless Hedge Trimmers over the past 10 years. The last two have lasted just 2/3 years before the motor seized up. I have used them to cut hedges ( Laurel & Leylandii) for just 3/4 days every year so I can't say that the machines were overused. Therefore I couldn't recommend this machine and will now try another Make / Model.

Won't accept battery claim form

Bought a black and decker drill with 2 batteries and found an offer for a free battery if product was over 70 pounds which it was, have tried however several times to apply for battery but everytime when I get to the end of the process it won't submit the page.i have great internet access so its nothing to do with that.i think b and d must have a block so these forms can't go thru.love to know I anyone else has had this problem.the drill itself I haven't tested yet so can't review but it does look a bit like a child's toy,in fact I have never seen a drill so tiny and the cheap flimsy carry case it comes in is as useful as a chocolate fire guard.wish I hadn't bought it now especially after reading all the poor reviews for these drills, but we live and learn.never again though.your stuff was good once I think your quality has reached an all time low.

Utter waste of money!!

We got a black and Decker cordless vacuum back in December 22 and it's the most useless item!!! And their customer service is utterly useless and a waste of time!! I have spent many hours on the phone to them, posted several paperwork as per their request and each time I did a recorded delivery and they have received it yet lost the paperwork and still have not resolved the issue! The vacuum worked for one day only and my request for a replacement or a refund has still not been done after 8 months of back and forth!! I would never recommend this product or brand to anyone!!!

Avoid Black & Decker products

Avoid Black & Decker products. My cordeless drill has broken twice - the first time it happened within 45 days so was taken back to B&Q for a replacement. The second time it had to go back to the manufactures. I told them the drill was total crap and I did not want a replacement I wanted a fund. The said they don't do refunds only replacements!!!!

flashing red on both of them,I contacted the company to find out where i could take it to get it checked to be told that I could take it to LINCOLN I live in Blackpool,What sort of help they call that is beyond me.Anyone with sense will avoid this useless brand as their customer service is non-existant and I now have £120 pounds worth of scrap which cannot be used without spending more money with this useless rubbish company. Black and Decker are a complete waste…

Black and Decker are a complete waste of space.
Coming up to a 1 year anniversary of waiting for a replacement table saw.
Had a recall to return, only used twice and in new condition.
But as it was a recall I returned using UPS.
The saw was returned back to me in a disgraceful condition, all packaging battered and various scrapes to the saw itself.
There was no need for me to return the saw but being told it was a recall by Black and Decker, I returned it under duress.
Little did I know what was to come….
I keep getting emails saying coming in next week, next week comes and goes.
They have no intention of replacing the saw, and if it wasn’t for my incessant emailing them, I would never get a reply. In fact it takes weeks before I do.
Nearly a year since sending back and still waiting for a replacement.
It’s a joke

Hi brought a work mate 301ok it cost £25 but even so didn't expect to struggle so much assembly it the instructions were useless and the worst part was the handles and especially the pin had to take outside and smash them in with a hammer say no more

Black & Decker workbenches used to be good.

The latest workmate is a toy. It does not compare to the workbench of old. The clamping is no good because of plastic threads with metal threaded rod in them and is not fit for purpose and it does not clamp - sufficient ly to hold what the old bench would. Whoever thought of using plastic for a serious job knows nothing.

Model GL7033 strimmer.

Model GL7033 strimmer.
I purchased and set to fix together for use to find, as I thought, was a missing part. I emailed Black and Decker to a reply of 'you have to purchase this part as it is not standard on the GL7033 model'.....YET the instructions clearly have a picture with this part showing on the front page, it is itemised in the parts page, (BUT only in small print it says not on my model). VERY MISLEADING and FALSE REPRESENTATION - trading standards should make BLACK AND DECKER amend the instructions manual.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS STRIMMER.
The part that is not included is a storage click part that would be attached to the tube handle so it is on hand whilst in use to change from regular strim cord to heavy duty. The heavy duty attachment is VERY LIKELY going to get mis-laid, which will render that tool useless and not fit for purpose. If the strimmer was supplied with it; the attachment clips onto it and is stored with it-prevention of mislaying the attachment.

Useless unhelpful company with zero customer service. I bought a black and decker workmate and one of the handles has a manufacturing fault so it doesn’t work. I phoned them up and they refused to replace it unless I could produce a receipt.
