Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, including Dealers that offer them as their post sale warranty. They use below standard repairers and limit actual claims to £1000 per claim. Pointless in todays market.
My vehicle was "repaired" at a garage I specifically asked not to be repaired by, it was damaged during the repair and Blackstar refused to deal with the claim despite photos being supplied. The worst Warranty service in the country, and their score reflects that. Warranties aren't worth the paper they are printed on.
Blackstar are also not trading as a registered company, they state they trade as a "group of partnerships", that tells you everything you need to know.

Michael was incredibly helpful in…

Michael was incredibly helpful in sorting out a catastrophic engine problem with our Mini that thankfully was covered by the warranty. He liaised with the garage to get the remedial work done and the cost was covered by the amount allocated by the warranty. Great person to deal with.

Poor service at every stage

Took nearly a week to decide how much they would cover to fix the car. Won’t pay out a fair amount for injector repairs, quote given barely covers the cost of the cheapest injector on the market. After agreeing to go ahead, assured me payment would be in my account in 24hours. Unable to pay the garage for repairs until they pay out. Have been without a car for 2 weeks due to their inadequate processing times and false promises. 100% would not recommend unless you want to pay for your own car to be fixed under their awful “cover”.

If I could give less than one star I would!

I have had the worst experience with black star warranties. I have been without a vehicle for three weeks for a three hour repair which my garage is ready and waiting to do! Blckstar have taken weeks to give final approval after back and forth and back and forth (on my behalf because blackstar mostly did nothing). Now they have finally approved they have insisted on using parts they order Instead of my garage which will cause another THREE WEEK DELAY! Causing a SIX WEEK DELAY FOR A THREE HOUR REPAIR!! Not to mention the only reason the repair was even finally approved was because the place I purchased the vehicle offered to pay the difference in the claim. If you have a desire to receive any kind of customer service within an even semi decent time frame I would look away from blckstar. Never ever ever ever ever would use this company again and in hindsight wouldn’t have bought the car purely from the frustration Blackstar warranties have caused!

Please, please avoid Black Star Warranty

The warranty services given by Black Star is not worth the paper it is written on. They drag out their processes and make you jump through multiple hoops. I would strongly recommend that you avoid any garage using them as their sole warranty supplier. If you have a choice of an alternative use it. Check out other reviews on Trustpilot, most say the same.

Cowboy outfit

Cowboy outfit, advised the garage the repair was covered under the warranty, then rejected the claim saying it wasn’t covered and wouldn’t advise on any dispute resolution or give contact details of someone senior in the business to take it up with. Closed the case within a couple of hours and refuse to give any further details. Avoid a £1500 bill like I’ve had and avoid these cowboys. Do your homework, there are legit companies out there who are genuine

Don’t know their own warranty so will cost you money.

Claims handlers do not know their own warranties and will therefore cost you money.
I phoned about an issue with my car to see if was covered. All the jargon in the booklet is confusing but you expect people dealing with claims daily would know if something is covered. However the call handler didn’t know if the fault was covered and said they would check and call back. Apparently they called but I did not answer. Please note if you miss the call they will not try again…
The 2nd time I called I did get the call back and was told that they still did not know and we would have to send in a report from a garage with details of the fault, mileage, cost etc, etc.
My garage even phoned to discuss the fault giving full details of the part needed to see if it was covered before they went to the time and trouble of doing and sending everything requested. Again they didn’t know and said to send everything over.
Finally I have the answer. No - it is not included on pg 6. It wasn’t on pg 6 the twice I phoned and it wasn’t on pg 6 when the garage phoned.
Time costs money and garages don’t do reports etc for free. So thank you Blackstar for making me spend money which could have gone towards my repair.
Received a renewal quote for the warranty which I will not be taking up.

Absolutely ridiculous

Absolutely ridiculous when it comes to pay. Been waiting for the payment to come from last few weeks. Spoke to several people and been told it was an error by accounts department. And then been told money will be in the bank by the end of the day. No sign for few days. Will never extend the warranty with this company. Made the complaint but no response and Still waiting for the money. Absolutely joke

SCAM company

SCAM company, after buying a used car. and having various problems with it (drive shafts, ECU suspension) they won't fix any claim that's classed as wear and tear.

any car over 5 years old will only have wear and tear issues.

it's just a scam to disprove any warranty claim. You also have to pay for a diagnostic report, just so they can not pay out.

SCAM - AVOID

Had issues with my clutch so took it into the garage and reported back to warranty as they wanted. They replied saying they needed cause of failure to which I asked for clarification and was explicitly told that wear and tear would be covered (I asked them directly). Was taken back to local garage who confirmed it was wear and tear for Blackstar to refuse the claim as 'wear and tear is not covered'. The whole process of the claim was then finding excuses not to process the claim and making me jump through ridiculous hoops, following all their guidance for them to contradict what I had been told to avoid paying out. THE WOST customer service i have ever experienced and have reported to all bodies. Do not even bother considering this place

Great experience

What a great experience I had from Blackstar Warranties. My car broke down and home and after one phone call to them they had the car recovered and taken to a local garage for inspection. They then phone and said my car was all repaired. Lovely people.

Brill company

Had a 12 month gold policy and car had an issue with the wiper motors. Put a claim to warranty company and they told me to send a report from a garage stating the issue and the cost to repair. I asked my garage to do this for me and within an hour of sending it the garage called me back to say it was agreed and they had been told Blackstar warranties would pay the repair. I had to contribute £35 towards the repair. Really easy company to deal with and my garage confirmed they were paid immediately. Very impressive.
