SCAM ALERT
SCAM ALERT - If you're a Choice Hotel Privileges member you may be called by them to get points to hear out a promo from Bluegreen Vacations. Bluegreen lied to me about the promotion in order to get my money. When I went to book my promo stay I paid for, I uncovered that I was lied to about how it works and I can't actually use it- I specifically sought clarity on a point of who I can travel with, they assured me it was fine not to take to husband (he can't travel) and turns out that's not at all true- they just told me what I wanted to hear to get my sale. Their lies are in a recorded conversation. When I tried to escalate the issue to resolve it, I was blamed for booking late (I booked within the timeframe and that had nothing to do with anything) and they told me they would be refusing to give me my money back. There are a lot more details on the scam, lies, lack of integrity, etc but this is a summary. Also very disappointed in Choice Hotels for being part of selling their members out to a scam.. it's not like I sought this out on my own, Choice Hotels called me and roped me in.
this company is a HUGE RIPOFF.
I would give it a zero if I could. They lie to you about what you are purchasing , do not provide receipts, and then do not provide an option for exit. I was told I could go anywhere in the US but now am being told it is only one destination that I can use. I was also told the properties are pet friendly but now find out that is a lie as well. I requested a refund but the person I spoke to was only focused on my dog and waited around for 2 days to make a decision which then made it outside of my 30 day window for refund. I was never told there was a time frame to change my mind. Please , for the love of GOD, don't trust anything these people say. They are just a rip off.
Disappointing All Around
Over the last two decades, we have consistently struggled to book the vacations we were promised during numerous sales presentations. Each time, we were assured that an upgrade would mean better availability, yet we have rarely been able to reserve highly desired places like Hawaii or the Florida Keys.
We also ran into major difficulties trying to transfer our Bluegreen membership when we got a new package. Initially, we understood the transfer was included as part of the new membership. Later, however, we discovered the transfer had not gone through, leaving us with two separate contracts and double the maintenance fees.
Also, our attempts to sort these issues out directly with Bluegreen have been terrible. Customer service has been completely unresponsive; our calls go straight to voicemail, and when they do return a call, it is never during the times we specify due to our professional commitments. This lack of communication has made it impossible to find a resolution to our problems.
The increasing financial burden from rising maintenance fees, combined with our inability to use the timeshare as it was marketed to us, has become impossible to sustain. We feel that the company is dishonest, which is the reason we cannot actually use the timeshare in the way we were promised.
No Exit Strategy or Offer!
My experience with Bluegreen has been extremely frustrating. After years of not using the timeshare and struggling with rising fees, I reached out for help with ending my ownership. Instead of support, I was told that nothing could be done unless I no longer owed on the mortgage which essentially leaves me stuck.
Communication has been inconsistent, and despite being told someone would follow up, no one ever does until multiple requests. Even after explaining that the fees were no longer manageable and that the ownership had become a burden, the only “solution” offered was paying thousands of dollars just to exit.
It shouldn’t be this hard to walk away from something you can no longer use or afford. The lack of transparency, the rising costs, and the dismissive responses make the entire process feel unfair. I expected honest help, not roadblocks. I can’t recommend this company based on how they treat owners once they need assistance.

I paid $199 for a reservation with BlueGreen Vacations. When I had to cancel, they charged a $99 cancellation fee—which I was told would come out of the $199. Instead, they charged a second $99, totaling $300 for a room I never stayed in. Customer service refused to help or correct the issue. Be careful — they use misleading fee structures and zero accountability.
My experience with Blue Green has shown…
My experience with Blue Green has shown how difficult and frustrating it becomes The moment you ask for help with canceling I had to send multiple emails just to get a response, and even then communication was unreliable
Calls were not returned and the one representative who initially reached out never followed up or scheduled anything
The financial strain from rising cost maintenance fees and the cost of traveling to even use he product has made ownership unmanageable.
Every visit came with pressure to buy more, and the promise made during the sales process like easy travel, money savings, straight forward usage never matched reality.
When I finally got someone on the phone,I was simply told there were "no options" for me After ongoing pressure unclear answers and lack of support,it is disappointing to learn that getting real help is nearly impossible.
This experience reflects exactly what it is like to exit Bluegreen ownership: slow response, inconsistent communication, and no real solutions when is needed
Useless all around
We purchased this timeshare hoping for good memories, but it has become a heavy financial burden and a constant source of frustration. We were not given the full truth about how the timeshare works, forcing us to pick up extra work just to keep up. Actually booking trips has been nearly impossible; securing 3-room suites is a challenge as they are consistently unavailable or outside our points range. We've even had unexpected trouble booking at the resort in our home state. When we tried to get help, the customer service was unacceptable, leaving us feeling like they are intentionally trying to make us chase our tails. Yayonna emailed to assist us, but has been completely unresponsive and never returned our calls. Following this failure, Bunny told us to contact Pinnacle Vacations, suggesting they could help, which led to yet another dead end. The consistent lack of support makes this whole thing more frustrating. Not worth the money or the headaches.
Unsatisfied with Blue Green Vacations exit path
Bluegreen Vacations continues to operate with misleading sales tactics and broken promises. After paying the ownership in full, the company demanded nearly $39,000 upfront just to terminate, which is unreasonable and unethical.
Owners were encouraged to buy additional points under false promises, later told those purchases disqualified them from benefits that were never properly disclosed. Even after repurchasing and consolidating accounts as instructed, booking high-demand locations remains nearly impossible despite following all procedures.
Promised benefits tied to premium status and Hilton’s acquisition have never been delivered. Meanwhile, rising maintenance fees and lack of support have turned this program into a financial burden.
The so-called “exit options” only add insult to injury. Bluegreen should allow contract termination without additional cost and address the misrepresentations that have caused ongoing hardship for many owners.

Bluegreen Vacations misrepresents their timeshare products, promising flexibility and easy booking that do not exist. Reservations are difficult to secure, and nearly every interaction turns into a sales pitch. Attempts to cancel or exit the contract are ignored, and the company refuses to consider cancellation until all payments are complete. Communication is poor, with representatives failing to follow up and denying accountability. This ownership has become an ongoing financial and emotional burden, and the company shows no willingness to provide a fair way out.

Not worth the hassle
My experience with Bluegreen Vacations has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I have been trying to cancel my timeshare for several months, and the process has been a nightmare.
The customer service has been less than helpful. The only significant advice I received from a representative was to stop making my loan payments, which feels like a trap that could ruin my credit. It's shocking that this would be the "solution" offered by the company.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I filed a complaint with the Business Consumer Alliance, but Bluegreen Vacations has not responded. Their lack of communication and unwillingness to address my concerns shows a complete disregard for their customers.
I have spent over $30,000 on this timeshare, which I have only been able to use once. I feel that my money has been wasted, and I am more certain every day that getting involved with this company was a major mistake.
Based on their representative's recommendation, I have stopped my payments, as I feel I have no other choice. I can only hope the company closes my account without damaging my credit or sending me to collections.
I would strongly advise anyone considering Bluegreen Vacations to think twice. My experience has been a costly and stressful one, and it's not a business I would recommend to anyone.
Bluegreen timeshares at Big Cedar Lodge…
Bluegreen timeshares at Big Cedar Lodge are a constant frustration. Booking requires planning a year ahead, last-minute trips are impossible, and promised perks never materialize. Maintenance fees have skyrocketed, while sales tactics are pushy and misleading. Attempts to exit the program are met with roadblocks and extra costs. Over time, what was sold as easy, affordable vacation ownership has proven stressful, expensive, and full of broken promises.
Fed up with them
This timeshare has been a thorn in our side for ~15 years, and we finally got fed up with the situation. We have tried numerous times to cancel the program but we were met with silence. The value we erroneously saw in this investment is no longer there. Trying to book at locations outside Orlando and Las Vegas has been a nightmare, with wait lists that don't seem to really work. Even after upgrading to the Grand Vacation Max system, hoping for better availability, it never happened.
Our attempts to find a resolution have been met with nothing but frustration. We spoke with a representative name Carlito who was 27 minutes late for our scheduled call. He was blunt and stated that nothing would from out conversation would be provided in writing. No offer to cancel or exit was presented during that call. In a follow up call on September 17th, another person, Brettany, confirmed the information that our call with Carlito was accurate. She also stated that her department was not authorized to generate written responses. Her suggestion was to submit a complaint to the BBB, contact the Bluegreen legal team directly, or take screenshots of a conversation in the website's chat feature. It seems odd that a business would not want a paper trail for conversations its employees have
Brettany explicitly told us that Bluegreen does not offer an exit program. She even acknowledged that she understood owners have a difficult time navigating that process. This lack of a clear explanation, coupled with a lack of information on their website, is deeply concerning. It feels like we always hit a wall when trying to discuss an exit. No one we have spoken to has cared about our problems.
Don't fall for it
This review is so hopefully we can save others from dealing with what we are going through. When we signed up, we were told it would be a great financial investment and something positive for our family, but unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case.
Communication with Bluegreen has been horrible. We've been trying to book vacations at our preferred times, even though we followed all the rules and called well in advance, but we are rarely able to get the dates we want. This has been frustrating and disappointing, especially given the amount of money we have paid.
We are also really worried about the cost of getting out of this contract. We have been told it would take over $6,000 to terminate it, which is just ridiculous. This entire situation has been incredibly stressful, especially due to health issues that have arisen. To make matters worse, I have been trying to talk to Kymberly Thrasher, and she has never called me back. This feels unfair, and they are putting unnecessary strain on customers who just want out. All that said, beware Bluegreen. It is not as amazing as it seems.
Incorrect Pricing Beware
Went to their sales presenation. They offered a package for $42,000. When we first signed up for the presentation/vacation, I asked what price does the timeshares start at? The women from Hilton who was selling the vacation said the cheapest package was about $10,000. I asked at the sales presentaion if we could look at the cheapest package, they came back with a package at $16,000. I then said I thought the cheapest packed was $10,000 they sales rep. said no this $15,000 is the cheapest. I said that is not was the Hilton women said and she also showed us the pricing on the Bluegreen Vacations webpage. The sales rep then said we don't have pricing online. I then pulled up the pricing that is shown on their website. "IS MATERIAL IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SOLICITING TIMESHARE OWNERSHIP INTERESTS. THE COMPLETE OFFERING TERMS ARE IN AN OFFERING PLAN AVAILABLE FROM THE DEVELOPER. Prices range from $9,900 to $853,990 USD, subject to availability. Pricing is dependent on product purchased, without promotions and discounts and subject to change. Pricing is without promotions and discounts and subject to change. Eligibility and financing requirements apply. Additional restrictions may apply." The sale rep. couldn't believe that was listed on their website. She took my phone to her boss and showed them and then came back and said sorry, we can't do a apckage for $9,900. This has to be illegal to post a price on their website but don't offer that price/package. Also just to top it off the Hilton lady showed us the rooms at the Cedar Lodge online to sell us on the vacation but when we got the Branson we were actually staying in a hotel. Hilton joined with Bluegreen Vacations and they had Hilton on the floor in Bass Pro selling these vacations showing customer rooms and activites located at Big Cedar Lodge but then put you in a Hilton hotel.
Trapped in a Useless Timeshare
I feel I purchased my Bluegreen timeshare based on blatant lies designed to line the salespeople's pockets. They caught me at a vulnerable time, as I had gotten divorced a year earlier and was looking for a way to guarantee time with my son. The timeshare was presented as an "investment" that I could eventually transfer to him.
In actuality, the timeshare is useless to me. The vacation points are only available every other year, but the maintenance fees are charged annually. The increase in these fees over the last year seems excessive and is a significant concern. This, combined with a lack of available destinations, makes me question the value of the membership.
I have been trying to cancel for months, but Bluegreen has made it abundantly clear they have no intention of helping. The customer service has been disappointing. I spoke with Keshia, and she made it sound like there really isn't a way out. She indicated that the membership would terminate and the debt would simply go to collections.
They get you into a bad situation and just watch as you struggle.
We stayed in Shorecrest Villa II in NMB
We stayed in Shorecrest Villa II in North Myrtle Beach. The carpet was very dirty along with stains on sofa and mold in bathroom shower. This facility needs a deep cleaning and upgrade.
I can't agree enough with the previous reviews…
I can't agree enough with the previous reviews. So much of this has been our experience. Empty promises, complicated and limited availability for using points, lots of sneaky fees tacked on when we could make a reservation, ever rising maintenance fees, poor customer service. And all this despite the fact we paid the mortgage off shortly after purchase and paid all maintenance fees on time. To make it worse, if you actually get to use any of their resorts, they harass you to go to their "reviews" while you are there, presenting it as a learning session to help you book vacations. It's actually a super aggressive sales pitch that lasts for hours by multiple agents to coerce you into spending more. And if you don't show up for the "review", they blow up your phone your whole vacation. After 13 years we are done with them. It's way, way easier to book a hotel or an airbnb. Bluegreen needs you worse than you need them. Save money and have a real vacation without them.
This place is a scam.Do not ever buy or purchase anything from these people. There are a bunch of liars
Lied to us about the package I paid in cash $50000 and everything they told me were lies. When we finally got to use it a year later after we purchased it.
It was cheaper to go right on the internet. And book a place yourself. This place is a scam that made false promises. Now I'm out, my kids is college money.
These people ought to be locked up for what they are doing. If they refunded my money it would probably be best for both of us. I found these people in the bass pro.Shop so bass pro shop should be.Held accountable for having a fraudulent company advertise and vacations in their stores.Way to go bass pro shop. They're making you look really good.
Bluegreen Timeshare worst decision I've ever made!
They completely deceived me at every owner meeting that I went to, and they are so well versed in the art of deception that I didn’t realize the extent of it until I had been an owner for 16 years. They lied about where my deed was and said nothing about how much the maintenance fees would keep going up every. Single. Year. I asked to surrender my deed to them and their response: “we don’t deed them back.” They won’t even take it back!! That’s how bad their memberships are! They are the ultimate bait and switch scheme. This thing is worse than prison. In prison there is at least a chance for parole in most cases!! I still can't believe there isn't some federal oversight of timeshare sales!! BLUEGREEN VACATIONS YOU ARE DIABOLICAL FOR WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO NORMAL HARDWORKING PEOPLE!! They are ruining lives!!
