Never ever again
Until a year ago, I was a customer with Bokio. Now, a year later, I needed to take a quick look into my old Bokio account. No chance of finding anything. The response from Bokio's customer service was: subscribe to the premium package for 3 months, then you can look into your account. Unbelievable, 1400 SEK for nothing. Incredibly poor customer service.

Bookkeeping simplified
For a comparable small price, this Program makes everything bookkeeping, taxes and invoicing pretty simple. This is especially very helpful for non-natives, since navigating the rules and regulations manually would be a nightmare. My subscription time has ended, however, they keep trying to take payment. The design of the site means the user has to remove the company in order to delete the data. However they don’t let you remove the company without a subscription. They do not mention this in their renewal email that you are unable to delete the data or account.
They are forcing the user to subscribe for another year at £200+ in order to delete their data and account.
If you are a sole trader this breaks GDPR and I urge users to make a complaint to the ICO even though they are a Swedish company you can still report them and their practises.
Accounting data held ransom
Holds your accounting data ransom unless you pay 3 months extra after wanting to quit. Customer service is arrogant and insist on paying. They give the excuse that they have informed their customers of this on the 1:st of September, when I wasn't even using their service. Have not gotten my data out and will not be extorted.

This is not ethical and in accordance with normal customer service. I should at least have one chance to download the information. They claim that they have reminded me but that has gone to spam!

Charging to download data - not great at all!!!
All other accounting systems within this market are fair and allow down-the-line access to your records.
Bokio on the other hand, has forced me to pay for a 3-month subscription just so that I could download a CSV file. Now I fear that they will take payments every 3 months, that is one issue. I also resent having to pay to access my accounting. I had been a FULLY paid up member.
The Bokio service was not the greatest while using it actively, and I switched to Intuit Quickbooks, which has every feature that I need. I switched mid-tax year to the Quickbooks service, and I fully expected to access my accounting in Bokio to bring together all of the information that I needed.
Also, I haven't received a receipt for payment, nor did I receive any emails from them about downloading of records which they claim to have sent.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I rarely write negative reviews but they really deserve this one.
Thier business practices are horrible. They started by having a free service that was awesome. I would constantly recommend Bokio to anyone who would ask. Then they moved the most commonly used features to a paid plan... Ok I understand.. They need to get in some money. Then they raise the prices twice within a year and also completely remove the lowest priced plan, forcing you into yet another price hike.
Now Bokio is one of the most highly priced services on the market and don't even get me started on thier customer service.
Every reply from Bokio customer service takes several days to recieve and then is short, impersonal and non-helpful copy paste answers.
I am very dissatisfied. I have never been this dissatisfied with a company before. I feel like they are holding me hostage and just keep increasing thier prices. I'm so upset that I didn't prioritize finding another service before my subscription renewed. Now I'm stuck for another year. I will be cancelling my subscription with Bokio as soon as this year is over and will never use them again.
I actually tried to cancel after my payment didn't go through for the renewal (I couldn't even log into the bank account I have with them to see how much money I needed to transfer to pay because they locked me out of even seeing my own bank account). Customer service took about 5-7 days to respond and just said no and quoted some laws and thier policy etc blah blah. Meanwhile I was unable to get into my bank account.
My advice to you is to find another service. Speedledger with a Swedbank acccount will work much better and you will actually get customer service. Can't wait to be done with this company.

My subscription was valid until October 31, 2023. I proactively cancelled my subscription on the Bokio website 10-15 days before renewal date. To my surprise, on October 26, 2023, I received an automated email indicating that my subscription would soon renew. I promptly reached out to Bokio, explaining that I had canceled my subscription and did not wish to continue. The response I received was unexpected - I was informed that I needed to contact Svea Bank to terminate my business account, and only then would Bokio cancel my subscription. Due to personal challenges, including intense study commitments and my kids illness, I was unable to complete the necessary formalities in a timely manner. Days ago, when I logged into the Bokio site, I observed that I could still create an invoice. This led me to assume my account had transitioned to a free subscription, but upon further investigation, I discovered my subscription had been renewed without my consent. Even After Many contacts with Bokio, They are not understanding my situation and they dont value the customer but they value for their revenue. so they want to earn money with cheating. If issue will not be solved then i will have to raise concerns to appropriate authorities.

When Bokio removed the free plan
When Bokio removed the free plan, they basically locked out access to accounting data and the only way to get access was to pay quarterly or annually for their new premium plan. They basically held customer accounting records at ransom. This does not seem right, or ethical.
Poor customer service
Poor customer service , they take an age to reply and English is clearly not their first language. Software is generic and nothing more than what fresh books offers which is free to Barclay business users. Would definitely not recommend this company, so frustrating just trying to communicate with them.

A TOTAL RUBBISH. They keep calling me about their sh!t plans and stuff, they even called me while I'm working or commuting home. Non-stop. And the customer service is sh_t when I tried to compromise with them about charging my money for WHOLE MONTH when I forgot to cancel only one day before a new month while when I started paying for them before I started mid month and mf charged me full month. TOTAL SCAM. And now all the sh_t is gone in my account just because they want me to pay for premium. Get over yourself. Shame on you
Subscription scam
Very bad attitude. They didn't inform me that my yearly payment did go through, I have closed my company but they still require me to pay for the service I was not using at all. The account was supposed to be closed.
Instead they continued giving me an access to the service that I was not using and now they tell me that I have to pay for that.
Scam company
Scam company - refuse to release our company data, I cannot see why they wouldnt allow us to download it - they are trying to ransom us into paying not just 1 month but 3 months of subscriptions just to get the data off.
The arguments about giving fair warning are naive as none of those emails showed in my inbox, they no doubt (quite justifiably) were sent straight to spam and as such I never saw them.
When someone tries to logon it should give the option of allowing them to download their data and close their account.
Avoid them like the plague!

I agree with all the most recent comments, below, which reflect my own experience entirely. Bokio have become a scam 'company' with appalling customer service since their recent changes to pricing policy. Moreover, as their arrogant responses below make clear, they absolutely do not care, either. Their customer service and tone is beligerent and smacks of denial.
They are, quite literally, charging me to move away from their company. They have my data, some of it sensitive, and their systems will NOT permit me to delete any of it unless I subscribe. In effect, they are charging me to migrate away from their platform, which is illegal and contravenes all kinds of EU laws on data and GDPR.
If they had even the slightest understanding that this is a simple issue, easily solved, then they would not currently be suffering this avalanche of 1 star reviews on Trustpilot. But they don't, they appear not to care. As a company, they will fail.
Don't waste your time with them: there are FAR better alternatives, many of them, and cheaper
Avoid!! No costumer service. Rising the price extremely with only 30 days to take action. If you miss information only blame yourself attitude. No help in reach.
