Soup

Most of the food at Booths cafe is good quality however I had Broccoli and Garstang soup today and it was the worst soup I have ever had, it was watery and tasteless, the the bread appeared hard as though it had been left out.

Very Poor Service

Ordered the loyalty card and after 2.5 months of waiting rang to ask why I had not received my card
Was told there had been a fault in the card - not Booths fault!!
They would send me one, now I’d brought it to their attention
You would have thought Boiths would have emailed customers to see if they knew there was a faulty batch to see if they had their card….. but No
I said I spent £80 a week in store and had lost those points
Again it wasn’t Booths fault!
Shocking customer Service, no voucher as an apology for a Not So Very Valued Customer!
Not impressed at all

A lovely Mother’s Day afternoon tea

We went for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea in Ripon yesterday and had a lovely time. The food was delicious, the Prosecco chilled and the little gift at the end made my mother very happy. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Awful company...........

We paid for lunch in the Keswick store cafe at 12.11 hours. We were advised there was no ham for the 710758 ham,egg and chips. The order was taken so we expected a substitute, sausage or similar. By 13.00 hours the meal had not arrived. We asked a member of staff who stated there is an issue with the food ordering system. The tickets are not received in the kitchen. The staff member chased the meal and we received it an hour after ordering. There was no replacement for the ham but we were still charged full price. You must use catering supplies for the cafe as there was plenty of ham in the store. Many other people also suffered the same problem with the ticket issue and had to visit the counter to chase up their orders. The problem in the cafe is not new. For the past 2 years there have been staff shortages and when visiting there is a sign saying restricted menu because of this. This is well known among the regular customers and has not improved. The menu has now been changed and offers little choice. In addition the large bowls of lovely soup are now small bowls of soup. The entire cafe system is broken. Penrith store is normally worse and we stopped using it completely over a year ago.
There is also another major problem with shopping payments. Several staff told us going back over the last 2 years that the card only payment self service tills would have cash payment tills added. This has never happened and is a major issue. On this visit the card payment tills area was virtually empty but long queues at the manned tills. This wastes a lot of time and is unacceptable. It is unbelievable how the shopping and dining experience at Booths has deteriorated. This is the opinion of many regular customers as we know well.
We sent the above complaint to Booths following the instructions on their website and they have not even responded. We also note they have not replied to any of the reviews on Trustpilot. What a shocking company.

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! ILLEGAL PARKING FINES!!!!

Received a letter requesting I pay a parking fine. Black and white photo of my registration with no evidence I was even on their car park. Clearly Booths are selling customer details to a scumbag parking company in exchange for a backhander payment.

BOYCOTT THIS COMPANY!

I will be issuing a Counter Claim at the Small Claims Court and I will be adding Booths as a secondary Defendant.

Wish I’d gone independent

After experiencing an excellent vegetarian breakfast in the summer of 2024 I gladly returned unfortunately not a great experience. Due to the incompetence of the counter staff I wasn’t offered any cutlery or how I wanted my eggs as well as being served a very underwhelming flat white.
The breakfast showed up with fried eggs swimming to survive the fat (I would have chosen poached), almost frozen avocado which was obviously prepared the day before and stored in the fridge with zero seasoning or preparation. The whole meal was heavy and stodgy with the toast being cheap white bread. Sitting watching the meals around me getting delivered table after table were offered wrong plates of food, with customers wondering around looking for cutlery that is keep behind the counter and should have been handed out while ordering. Total shambles from start to finish……

Unresolved Racial Discrimination regarding a Racist Staff Member: If You Are Asian, Avoid This Store

I submitted a formal complaint to Booth's five days ago regarding a staff member's racially discriminatory behavior. Shockingly, I have yet to receive any response or acknowledgment from the company.

This individual has been repeatedly mentioned in several reviews over the past year for targeting Asian customers. Reports include mocking and making offensive remarks about Asians, creating a hostile and unwelcoming environment within the cafe. Myself personally, along with several other friends and acquaintances, have been on the receiving end of this racial discrimination on multiple occasions.

It is appalling that Booth's has allowed this behavior to persist unchecked, despite repeated complaints and public reviews. This demonstrates a blatant disregard for the well-being and dignity of its customers. Such inaction is not only unprofessional but also sends a troubling message about Booth's priorities and values as a company.

If you are Asian, or if you value inclusivity and respect in your shopping experience, I strongly recommend avoiding this store. Booth's must urgently address these ongoing issues if it hopes to maintain any credibility as a business that values its customers.

Boycott Booths! Disgusting Company With No Morals

What a horrendous experience with Booths. I've been visiting Keswick and Booths for years. I used to live in Keswick but come back to visit family.

I stayed in Keswick last summer and as always, visited Booths to stock up on supplies. As myself and two friends were visiting for the week, we spent over £350 in Booths. Parking at Booths has always been free, so funny enough, I wasn't looking for any pay and display signs, which by the way, are small and well hidden.

Due to amount of shopping and money spent, we were in Booths for just over 1 hour (1 hour and 7 minutes to be exact). A few weeks later, I got the Parking fine through, which was a surprise but nonetheless I went to appeal. Parking Eye of course refused the appeal because they are well known scammers.

I then went to the independant reviewer. They won't use the main one (IPA) because they are actually independant. So instead you have to use POPLA, which are of course more likely to favour Parking Eye. Surprise surprise that appeal was declined.

It took 3 months for the POPLA appeal to go through the process. In the meantime, Parking Eye got debt collectors involved and bumped the fee up to £180, threatening to take me to court and get an order to send bailiffs in. This caused huge stress for no reason because the fine was in the appeal process! Disgusting company.

The fine is now back to £100 after appeal but it's not the point. I spent £350+, causing me to go over the free time by just 7 minutes. The Booths manager at Keswick was rude when I spoke to him about it and they just don't care. It seems they're happy to penalise and cause massive stress to their customers. They've shown exactly what type of company they are. They don't care about their customers. Boycott them and hit them where it hurts.

Finally, if you're in any doubt as to what they think about their customers, they're not even replying to any of these negative comments and offering apologies or solutions!

It’s a Boo to Booths!

It’s a Boo to Booths!
The Keswick branch is always a very depressing shopping experience! Firstly, the prices are outrageously high, the fruit and veg mediocre at best. This particular branch is very poorly managed and the checkout staff are soooo slow, passive aggressive and sullen. Fortunately the self service checkout works well. The staff appear to resent having to serve customers preferring to spend their day chatting between themselves! Customer service and the quality is so poor I’m amazed this branch hasn’t closed years ago, it would be so much better if it was replaced by an Aldi or something similar.

Car Parking Charge Scam, Manager Unhelpful and Rude

Came to stay for Xmas in Keswick for a week with family and dog, which we do every year, charged our EV up in their available spots, which cost us £20 for 40 miles! Went into store and shopped, left car to walk around while we waited. Parking went over by 30 minutes but couldn't find anywhere to pay as barrier was up when we left. Received a car parking charge from Parking eye in the post on the 3rd Jan 25. Almost 2 weeks after, the charge said if we paid within 14 days it would be £50, but 14 days was already almost up by the time we received it. Called Keswick Booths to query and Manager was extremely unhelpful and rude and was not willing to help at all even after I explained we had spent money in store and used EV chargers, he told me to contact parking eye (You cannot get through to a human being only an automated service) which I told the Manager. He refused to help and told me he would not look into it after originally emailing to say they can ask the Company to Cancel the charge if we had evidence (which we sent over) Then told me over the phone he can't contact them! Strange! I informed him he seems to be using a debt collector and not the Council which is also strange. Would not go back into store ever again to spend hard earned money especially at Xmas when money is already tight. Please make sure you tell a staff member if you are parking up and be careful as the Manger will do nothing to help you. Money seems to be the main objective not people, which is odd for a Customer based industry.

I ordered the turkey Christmas dinner…

I ordered the turkey Christmas dinner for two at the Carnforth Store. Easy to order, very pleasant staff.
Very efficient when I picked the dinner up.HOWEVER
It wasn’t until Boxing Day that I realised that there had been an item short. We didn’t receive the carrot, swede and parsnip crush! 🥴
The dinner was very enjoyable and wasn’t spoilt by the absence of the above. 👍

Be very wary shopping here!

Horrendous experience shopping here!
The supermarket would not cancel a parking charge issued by parkingeye on behalf of the store, even though it didn't comply with the bpa code of practice and also after spending a decent sum of money in the shop.
The store manager was very rude and unhelpful when I asked him to cancel it.
Managed to get the parking fine cancelled after going through a popla appeal process.

Be warned!!
