Gave Boots Hemel Hempstead another chance after my last abysmal experience as they were very nice and seemed genuinely apologetic. Nothing's changed though. Their customer service is still utterly inept. The optician doing my eye test told me I needed to speak to the contact lens specialist to find out whether my mono lens prescription needed to change along with my glasses. They booked me a time to speak to her, but failed at any single point to mention it was £50! Was forced to pay for a 5 minute chat where I was told my lenses were fine and I didn't need any changes!
I struggle to find frames to fit my face, so wanted to reuse my existing ones - a fresh pair I bought online. Was told they were too small for multifocal lenses...despite the fact I originally bought them in the same store, and they also reused the frames for me 2 years ago. I have in fact bought from Boots, and worn the same style frames as multifocals for about 6 years now with no issues! Got a blank look on explaining this. She booked me an appointment for 10 days' time to collect my new glasses. I called on the day to check they'd come in. They hadn't, and no one thought to call me to let me know so I didn't drag all the way there for no reason. It transpired there wasn't even an appointment booked that day. But apparently there was one I missed a week earlier - to collect glasses ordered precisely 2 days previously to that?!
They said they'd call me when they came in the following day. I hear nothing for 3 days so call again. "Oh yes, they came in yesterday," I'm told. "So why didn't you call me," I ask. "Oh we tried but the number didn't connect." "What do you mean?", I ask. "Oh, our phone often doesn't connect when we try to call numbers." Seriously??? "It's now 4pm the following day and no one thought to try me again?" Blank silence. "When can I collect them?" I ask. "We're shut all weekend and bank holiday." I get in response. Even more reason to have tried to call me this morning!!! "Can I come in now?" I ask. "Yeah, OK."
I'm properly done with this store now. The incompetence is astounding. I got a few apologies along the way, but it's just a horrible customer experience overall when you're spending hundreds of pounds.

My reading glasses fell apart late last night when dropped and hit a hard surface. I visited Boots Opticians in New Milton and a very courteous gentleman, Povey put my glasses back together in a matter of minutes but would not accept any payment for his services. I am very nay exceedingly grateful for his assistance.

All staff really helpful but I can only remember some of the names which were Betti, Elena and Elli.

Popped into Boots in Wakefield Trinity Walk today to have my new glasses adjusted and also to arrange to have a pair of prescription sunglasses. Was seen by Rachel who was very nice and helpful. She even told me that I could have another pair of reading glasses free which I wasn't told about at the Leeds Branch. Lovely girl and fabulous tattoos. 😊

Was dealt with promptly even though I didn't have an appointment. My eye check- up was thorough and professional

Another successful visit to see Richard, the contact lens practitioner at Boots, Chelmsford. We're on a bit of a mission to find me the best multifocal contact lenses as the ones I've had for years are no longer doing the job! I'm an anxious 58 year old woman and really appreciate his patience, and diligence at finding me the right product. We've tried a couple of different options so far and I have every faith that we'll get there! I'm extremely grateful for his assistance.

I left Boots Optician (Ely), after several decades of loyalty, when the optician omitted to tell me I had age-related macular degeneration. The following year, staff were surprised that I wasn't wearing glasses for that condition but I didn't receive an apology: they implied a staff change was responsible. Like I'd forget a condition my mother had and a friend runs a support group for...?! I won't be coming back but they still send me invitations to do so!

Very helpful service throughout. Optician did a very thorough eye test and asked all the relevant questions
Stacey was very helpful with choosing the glasses and nothing was too much trouble. I felt I was listened to and treated with respect.
An excellent service

All staff very friendly and efficient. Explained everything they were doing and why. I have a disability and they were patient with me, allowed me to go at my own pace. Went out of their way to find me the exact set of frames I was looking for

The branch this complaint pertains to is: Boots Opticians, Golden Square, Warrington. WA1 1TD
They are absolutely useless. I've been coming here for years, and I'm yet to be seen on time. They have real punctuality problems. I'll usually wait 25 minutes or so. Today again, predictably, having left work early specifically, battled through the Warrington traffic (made worse by the Creamfields festival) to arrive for my 4pm appointment, I was advised they were running 45 minutes late. However, this useful information was not forthcoming when I arrived and I was asked to take a seat in the waiting area. Only at 4.15, having sat there like a lemon for 15 minutes, did someone sidle over to inform me the optician was actually running late and my 4pm appointment was now going to be 4.45 at the earliest. I didn't have time to wait so had to leave, they asked if I wanted to rebook but without my work calendar on me it was tricky. No apology or explanation was offered. When I suggested they must have known of the 45 minute delay and could have called me beforehand, the member of staff said she'd only just found out! If this was true, then there is clearly a communications problem between the opticians and front of house. Enough is enough now, they can remodel the branch as many times as they like, the customer service and punctuality leaves an awful lot to be desired. I would suggest avoiding this branch altogether and finding another, which is exactly what I will be doing.

Boots Swindon optometrist Kajani Thavabalasingam carried out my eye test today 27.08.2026. I have never had such a professional, thorough and caring examination. Kajani is exceptionally informative and explained every step and made sure I understood why she was giving the advice she did. Truly fantastic experience.

Utterly brilliant staff in Wells, Somerset. They even made sure the dog was welcome and Pickle certainly enjoyed seeing them all!
Professional and patient, explaining the processes, length of time needed to get things done and just the best experience for both myself and my husband. Will definitely keep using them and thoroughly recommend.

Lovely experience at Wimborne Boots opticians after having my eyes tested in Farnham, Surrey. Staff are professional and patient, choice of specs great and they fit and work perfectly. Won’t hesitate to go back next time for both the test and if needed, new specs.
