Brilliant helps learners achieve much higher levels of ability in STEM, in less time, with more purpose and joy. Its content spans algebra, programming, and other quantitative problem solving across math and computer science. Brilliant’s lessons prioritize visual representations and active learning. Lessons build intuition with visual explanations, hands-on manipulation, and concrete computation. Brilliant doesn’t teach how to do something before asking questions—instead, it lets learners try to find a solution before learning the procedure. Every lesson has associated practice sets. For personalized practice, Brilliant predicts the optimal next problem to ask, so that learners are adequately prepared to answer future questions. This includes spaced repetition in weak areas and mixing practice problems from different concepts, so that learners must identify what approach to use to solve each problem, rather than just applying the same procedure to every problem. Brilliant’s courses are crafted by multiple IMO medalists and PhDs from MIT, Caltech, Stanford, and Harvard. Brilliant serves people who take pride in having a well-trained mind—students seeking to excel in STEM, professionals learning new skills or refreshing dormant ones, and lifelong learners staying sharp. Brilliant’s optimized learning experience is not only effective, interactive, and adaptive—it’s also fun. The gamification layer provides scaffolding for motivation and habit formation. This provides another tool to help learners stick with learning even in the absence of tutors or parents who help foster motivation. The content itself is also designed to feel fun—from the pedagogical design of the interactives and problem progression, to the types of sounds, feedback, and haptics as learners interact and progress through levels of progressively more difficult problem solving in a topic.

I did the free trial and got wacked with a $180 fee on my credit card without being notified that I was going to be charged. When I saw it and challenged the fee they refused to refund my money - forcing me to keep a 1 year membership to something I did not express consent for. The company prey's on you forgetting that you trial has expired - even though its clear I have not used it at all - they refused to refund even a portion of my 1 year membership fee. The trial ended a few days ago, they billed me earlier this week - I acted right away and the refuse to refund.

Fun to use
A bit expensive if you don't use it often, but the more you use it, the more value you get. Brilliant helped me wrap my mind around basic programing principles in a really fun and intuitive way.

A great experience
A great set of courses. Easy to follow buy informative and interesting illustrations. I went through the AI related ones, group theory, and data visibility.
Also, in the one time I reached out to support, they got back quickly, very much appreciated.

Be wary of trying this out
Be wary of trying this out. No notification of end of trial. Just annual fee charged without any notification, even if you cancel at renewal time. As stated by others, customer service response is basically tough luck, we don't do refunds.

AVOID (link unavailable) LIKE THE PLAGUE!
I was shocked to discover that (link unavailable) had taken over £100 from my account WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR CONSENT! When I contacted customer service, they showed ZERO interest in resolving the issue or providing a refund. Their response? A blunt "We refuse refunds."
Do not trust these scammers! They'll take your money and run. I've tried to get help, but their customer service is nonexistent. Be cautious, folks!
UPDATE: If you're considering signing up, BEWARE of the hidden charges!

Excellent customer service for this fun learning app
Maria provided me with excellent customer service when I was having trouble accessing my Premium account. I appreciate her willingness to research my issue, continuously update me on what was happening with the process, and then helping me resolve my issue. I'm learning so much through the app and I feel like I'm better able to understand basic coding principles.

Avoid any contract with this company
It’s really frustrating to deal with companies that use hidden subscription models and charge you without sending any advance notification. They’re quick to spam you with reminders about not using the app, but when it comes to alerting you about upcoming charges, they stay silent. On top of that, when you contact them, they don’t try to resolve the issue—instead, they just give excuses about their services.
This doesn’t feel like the kind of company you’d want to deal with.

Refund Denied Even After Quick Cancellation
On 12 September 2025, Brilliant.org charged my account for a subscription. I contacted their support very quickly to cancel, but only received a reply on 16 September, stating that payments are non-refundable.
Since I requested cancellation almost immediately and haven’t used the service, I believe a refund should have been issued. I hope Brilliant.org reviews such cases more fairly in the future and improves their refund process for customers who cancel promptly.

BRILLIANT is Brilliant!
I am an older person who needs mental challenge on a regular basis. I found Brilliant just what the doctor ordered! I have been doing lessons off and on since January of 2025. The courses are very well laid out, fun to do, and just enough of a mental challenge to lee[ you interested. There is a great range of subjects and, although you are not getting academic credit for them, you are learning lots while, at the same time, having a lot of fun! I love brilliant!

Good but shady!
The app is ok. Courses range from great to not so great. However, I was billed for a year worth of premium subscription when the free trial went out. This is not something I signed up for. Usually in instances like this one would be billed for a month, not a year! I tried to explain my situation to customer support, how I need the money they charged, but to no avail. Is this how Brilliant makes money I wonder.

No refund and artificial internal rules to make more money
This company will make sure to take your money, and leave you dissatisfied.
I made it very clear that I did not wish to keep the account, and although they agreed to cancel it, the cancellation will not take effect until after a full year has passed. The customer service keeps on refering to internal policy about no refunds! "Our Terms of Use don’t allow for refunds outside of specific cases.”
This is simply a way of externalixing responsibility to a set of 'universal rules' - But which the company has established. Furthermore in their app they have translated the content to danish, which means, that they are referring to a european market including the Danish market, which means that the European and Danish rules about a 14 day return policy applies, unless i explicitly gave my "explicit prior consent".
Polite communication cannot outweigh what is ultimately a horrible way to treat their customers
(Based on recent mail exchanges with customer service)

Do NOT use
Do NOT use. The company is deceptive from head to toe. Their content, their trials, support, advertisement, representatives, etc.
Do NOT sign up for a free trial. They WILL steal your money, claim no fault, deny any attempts to resolve with automated messages or rude representatives, and pretend the complaint does not exist.
0/10, would not and will not ever recommend. It's a wonder they're still in business.

My payment was declined.
When my annual subscription payment was returned due to insufficient funds, on Sept 11, 2025, I notified the company, advised them that I had corrected the problem, and they could resubmit the payment. They resubmitted the payment, confirmed on Sept 15, 2025 that my annual subscription was paid and my next payment is due on Sept 11,2026.

I was charged over a £100 out of…
I was charged over a £100 out of nowhere and a without a reminder that my trial has ended. I did use this app for only couple of days and clearly if the check my used, they could see that I never used it again. Horrible customer service even though I did send them an email same day I was charged.

Money for nothing
I paid for a 12 month subscription with this company for £100, then cancelled the service. I have not been using the service for 12 months, they charged my credit card without permission claiming I had not unchecked auto renewal in the app. They refused a refund despite my complaint, so they get away with stealing £100. Do not use!!!!!

BEWARE!! - Updated
BEWARE!!! They will charge you without warning and won't budge an inch or help in any way to obtain a refund. There are a plethora of Reddit pages talking about their faulty business practices and unwillingness to work with the families they supposedly claim to support and try to help.
9-10-25 Yesterday I received an email from Brilliant informing us they would refund 11 of the 12 months. This was a HUGE relief and we are so thankful they were willing to work with us.
